Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

You are not truthful at all if you blame EtH or the quality of players for this crap. We beat them 4-0 with the same squad a few months ago.

He is doing a terrible job of coaching and whatever he's trying with the system isn't working. Erik ten Hag isn't to blame for that.

He too stubborn, will never play to the team’s strengths. 2-0 down and he keeps 5 at the back. It’s embarrassing.

Feels like Oles 4-0 t Watford. A nothing performance with a pathetic effort and display

If we don’t beat Ipswich I think the board are mad not to sack him. Enough is enough.

Yes the players aren’t good enough but we weren’t this bad before. Something has to change and if the manager isn’t willing to temporarily give up the formation he should be gone.

That is not happening.

Not the loss to Ipswich, that could happen.

But sacking him would mean we would have 3 managers on the payroll. Ten Hag, Amorim and the new manager (not that anyone would want that job).

The club are broke so cant pay off another manager whe we just paid 10mil+ to obtain him 3 months ago.

He may well be our AVB. Poor squad or not, the performances and results are abysmal.

I'm struggling to see how he can turn things around, even if he has a good window.

I mentioned in the thread at the time how it was a bit concerning that our CEO seemingly handpicked him to be our manager, overruling Ashworth.

Anyone (Amorim included) trying to downplay the importance of a formation is talking out of their hole.

This isn’t just about playing principles, 343 means we have to start 3 crap centre backs at the expense of a player in midfield, it means we have to play 2 holding DMs even though we barely have one. It means we’re either playing fullbacks who can’t attack out wide or wingers who can’t defend.

It means we have players out of position all over the park, it means promising players like Mainoo and Garnacho are suddenly looking like spare parts and were reliant on dogshite like Casemiro and Zirkzee.

The players get blamed for absolutely everything (anything to excuse Ruben) but I honestly feel sorry for them having to figure out how to make this nonsense work for a totally inflexible manager who is hanging them out to dry.

I absolutely maintain any decent manager should be able to flex their set-up and get the best out of what’s available to them, and it’s absurd that so many of our own fans let alone Ruben are happy to see us slide towards the relegation spots just so we can play one specific formation.

It’d be different if there was any hint whatsoever of things starting to click but it’s totally absent, we look dreadful and are getting worse.
Bang on.

I've came to the conclusion after reading similar multiple times over the years that some people not ony seem to think a manager does very little to affect results but also that the manager can do no wrong and the players are always to blame in every scenario when shit hits the fan.
It’s really weird. No matter how many times we replace the “deadwood” it’s always those pesky Machiavellian players.

How is he on the payroll when we paid him off?

So much for the special bonding session. Ten pin bowling can be quite strenuous though.
Just a bunch of fakers

Yep, Just like every poster with a clue said it would.
It was so painfully obvious, yet some here were saying "let's just give him the summer and if things don't work out, we'll sack him in September/October and still have time to salvage the season".

Good post. It’s why my first choice was Nagelsmann but he apparently doesnt want to leave the NT gig just yet. He’s very flexible with his approach and formations.

He also has experience at a big club and has won commendable accolades.

Liverpool never met the Sporting release clause and moved on due to the fee asked by Sporting. It was after this they went in for Slot, but do carry on with your “fachts”

Oh right, you know more than what everyone reported then

It's maddening to be honest. Under Ralf we needed to get rid of ''these players'' and open heart surgery. Ten Hag got rid of 85% of the squad, Amorim's got rid of a few more yet it's ''these players'' still trying their damdest to feck over every successive manager for some inexplciable reason.

It's the same with every manager for this fanbase. They quickly develop a cult-like devotion and reverence for them as it makes them feel as though Fergie is still here.

The one aspect of our fanbase that i absolutely cannot stand. In terms of magnitude there are only a handful of jobs bigger than ours, but even in smaller clubs you won’t see managers get the free pass that united fans give theirs.

No I just know that Liverpool put out that story post hiring Slot.

You only have to go and read the reports at the time. Liverpool approach Sporting for the fee you don’t do that if you have not agreed everything with Amorim. You can always look it up, no ITK info required it was all reported

He may not be a top class manager. He may be the worst manager the premier league has ever seen.

But there's no hope with the current squad of players regardless of who is in charge. May as well stick with a guy that was the brightest managerial talent in Europe four months ago, imo.

Might as well have kept Ten Hag in that case. He was one of the brightest managerial talents once too.

This is actually a great point. Appointment of Ashworth was a smoke show.
I mentioned in the thread at the time how it was a bit concerning that our CEO seemingly handpicked him to be our manager, overruling Ashworth.
I think it was largely briefed that Ashworth lost a lot of credit in the bank from Rat and Brailsford because he was pushing hard to retain ten Hag in the summer rather than rip the bandaid then and there, and then when he was asked to start thinking of replacements he wasn’t coming up with the right sort of names. Could’ve just been pro-club briefings but it was saying names like Potter, Southgate, Frank (who’d probably be doing better tbf).

I think that’s why they let Berrada take the wheel.

We see people saying this with every manager we have had since Fergie....
In the meantime we watch new managers at clubs produce wins with the players they inherit
Dorgu has no issues playing in this system apparently though? He’s an Amorim signing
