Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Starting 5 defenders + 2 defensive midfielders at almighty Everton is strange.

The team is dire, but not relegation form dire,he had to go

Jim isn't clean either but I get and respect what you say
No. He isn't. No billionaire is. Not one. They should all be given the French Revolution treatment. But there are levels for sure and he isn't at the same bottom of the barrel monster level as the other bid.

An absolutely disastrous appointment. This is the worst i have ever seen us.
Er, probably not? 7 nil away to Liverpool, losing 5 nil at home to the same team is probably worse? What we're witnessing right now is a lot of nasty chickens coming home to roost, starting with the absolutely terrible recruitment from the club since SAF left.

The ownership model has changed and is in the process of ripping it all up, the backroom staff and manager has changed, Ruben is resetting the whole playing style for the team. This group of players have been a deep lying counter attack team for years, an average squad with a few bright lights has papered over some cracks, now we're seeing the full picture. We are trying to play higher up the pitch and we don't have the personnel to effectively carry it out, we are missing Collyer or even a Mainoo today. A fit and firing Mount in the 10 would be nice, we lack legs.

The most galling thing is the lack of a proper striker! Hopefully a few youngsters will get minutes second half. Last point, the pressure from all these changes and being at the most famous club in the showbiz world of football means we are witnessing something that doesn't normally unfold at such a big club, our brutal overhaul and reset is unfolding before our eyes. Even Fergie had a few low finishes in the league before he sorted it out, I just hope Rubin gets time, because you can see the average players are struggling to adapt to his demands, and the sheer lack of physicality is doing the rest.

When you have a squad with very little quality and no hunger or confidence this is what you get. There isn't a manager in the world who could come in and fix this team.

The football we play is awful. He cant do anything about the goals but he can do something about how we play, we look awful;. we don't press we don't attack we don't control, forget about done twos or patterns of play, we cant even do the basics. Championship teams play better than us. It's not the players. Most players are newish signings and the ones that are gone are doing better.
Agreed with a lot of that but it’s irrelevant that a lot of the players are newish signings. Zirkzee, Ugarte and De Ligt all have flaws and they’re not players he would necessarily sign. Antony having a good couple of games in La Liga is a non event. We’ve seen him under two managers in the Premier League, he’s awful.

I absolutely think some other managers could get this team floating around 7th-10th, but we’re clearly wanting to do something more long term than that. We’ve seen his system at Sporting and this isn’t it. Why would he be able to coach such a good system in one league, but not here. It can only be the difference in players. I’d probably be more worried if we were actually seeing some kind of system and it was shit.

I'm a big fan of Amorims and was fully behind him sticking to his own style to show what players can't play his way and should be moved on but it's got to a stage where he needs to change something. We are in freefall. He has to come out and say that these players are nowhere near capable of doing what he wants so he has to get them to the end of the season in any way he can.

Everton have got a better squad than us?
Right now, who you taking? This same squad was equally as shit under ETH. Confidence and passion are two things we just don’t have. Can easily make the team look worse than they are, but that’s what happens when you buy a lot of square pegs for round holes instead of fixing the issues in the squad and overpaying for players, renewing contracts for a few half decent performances so on…

I’d punt most of these guys tomorrow, sure most on here would say the same.

Stupid fecking shit formation he uses that no one else uses and he has no adaptability.

Any other coach sees the situation we're in and they think: "Okay, this is a crisis. Have to change something here."

He just sticks his fingers in his ears and says: "They'll learn. They'll learn."

We're done.

In hindsight it would have been a great decision.

But lets not pretend that 99% of us weren't excited about bringing in one of Europe's top young managers. Nobody could foresee what is going on right now.
I must admit I was excited at first, but it's clear that he is the worst appointment in the history of our football club.

Amad injured. No Garnacho means no pace. This guy got no clue how important it is to have pace in PL.

Our attack is already below average even before he came but our defense is getting exposed easily due to his system.

Question now to INEOS why they didn’t do their diligent study to find the right manager for the team and also fit the current club’s financial situation.

What? We haven’t mustered so much as a shot.
Yeah but we had more runs in behind from Hojlund, Dorgu was proactive with cutbacks and we looked like we could get in behind the opposition.

That literally never happens.

Nations League, no one cares about the Nations League. It’s a tournament that replaced International Friendlies.

He has the second best record in England history in competitive international games.

Again, I’m not saying hes the messiah. I’m just saying he wouldn’t have us being dicked by every team we play. We sure as shit wouldn’t be 15th. Wouldn’t be leaking goals. And he’s a below average manager himself.

Amorim has been a disaster.

I’ll just bow down to your superior knowledge and ability to know the what ifs and just agreed to disagree because we aren’t going to get anywhere here.

The team struggle to create nevermind scoring. Don't make themselves difficult to score against and beat. Ruben sitting on the bench in a deep thought probably thinking why did I take on this task.

Aren't we one league position worse? I mean it's hardly that dramatic.

It’s absolutely that dramatic:

This PL season pre Amorim: 1.36 ppg

Over 38 games that’s 52 points. (Enough for 9th last season)

Amorim after today: 0.93 points per game

Over 38 games that’s 35 points. Relegation shite & enough for 17th last season.

Stop making excuses for a manager completely out of his depth.

Literally every single one of you crying right now will be crying exactly the same way when these players feck the next manager over.
The problem is this isn't just complaining bexause he's not in a Top four battle or a few poor performances.

They are complaining because he has turned an average team into an awful one.

At times United are playing worse than Southampto, devoid any impetus.

I'm not sure why this guy has so much sway amongst some posters ojther than that they desperately want a big decision to be right.
It's not as if he has achieved much to have that credit in the bank.

Ten haag was absolutely better thus far.

That said... He's reasonably likeable as a person and doesn't seem arrogant.

Football doesn’t work like that. He can’t just snap his fingers in July 2025 and be like “okay let’s start completely fresh” — if you want a long term “trust the process” gimmick you need signposts that illustrate some level of faith. There’s no improvement in players, in our style of football. No underlying stats to suggest we’re being coached well but it’s player quality letting us down. It’s just all… shite.

Unless he wins a cup I really struggle to see what changes next year.
He'll stay and get his chance with a full pre-season and a few new faces.

Honestly, I have seen enough to this team no matter who the manager is at the club.
No working system in any of our players over the past years and years. Always wasteful passing, wasteful pressing, wasteful heading, wasteful clearing, wasteful shooting (maybe should say 0 shooting cause have not seen a proper for a while). Weak in physical and mental and spirit.

If you, a player, do not want to play for this club; please hand in your resignation letter to the manager. We absolutely do not want a player with no heart to play for this team at all cost. Nobody is bigger than the club. If you do not stand for the manager, his system and the club; just leave the club.

Unfortunately his first and last games could be against Ipswich, when they come to Old Trafford and win, which I am convinced they will, that might be the end.

Wait, I know how we can score more goals. Play 5 defenders. Throw in two defensive midfielders too.
the fact that the wing backs look like defenders is down to a failure in coaching. if it was coached better it could feel like less defenders than a 442. in portugal one of the holding mids also pushed right up high. just hasn't been able to get it across to the players.

Literally every single one of you crying right now will be crying exactly the same way when these players feck the next manager over.

I really don't want to hear anything about players fecking over managers or fans not having patience/stomach for a rebuild. We've been hearing the players feck over the manager since Sir Alex left, guess what, when players lose confidence in the manager that's what happens at every club. It's the manager's job to maintain that relationship, to maintain confidence in the tactics. Those players have included world cup winners, premier league winners, multiple champions league winners. This is not something special to United.

Just as sometimes a player isn't good enough, sometimes a manager isn't good enough.

Who would you appoint instead then?

Will his style work in the championship?
I can't see us going down, the gap between the two leagues is massive so you have got that safety net of having two maybe three worse sides constantly below you.

Playing in the Championship would be wild though, I have been lucky enough to witness us win it all so this would be a whole different experience for some of us.

So Pickford isn't better than Onana?
Branthwaite vs De Ligt
Beto vs Hojlund...

You're getting into arguing how good Dalot is to prove otherwise .

This team is dire.
all of those players are better than their everton counterparts. if amorim had the team playing well you'd think differently. its the coaching that makes these players look as bad a they are.
