Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Actually a tough decision in the summer because if we are going to keep him then we can't invest in 'his players' and sack him in november.

my preference would probably be to not invest much in summer, and tell him he has to show he is at this level by coaching the players he has + dorgu and a couple more system specific signings.

wait until he actually shows something before rowing in behind the strategy.

if he can't show some signs of improvement by the time he is in the door 1 year with a whole pre season and a few signings in the problem positions then he has no excuses.

We know he didnt want to join until the end of the season.

I think by coming in January, he was content (and maybe given permission) to treat this season as a write-off of sorts and just force his tactics into the players here and let them audition.

Anyone who sank would be dumped at the end of the season (either sold or relegated to squad depth) and anyone who swam would be rewarded and kept on.

However, I don't think anyone at the club - either Amorim or those hiring him - expected the results to be this bad. I'm sure they didn't expect consistency but I assume they would have expected to pick up more points than this. The "write-off" they expected or permissions was more likely scrapping it out in the range of 6th - 12th in the league, and I imagine they are all now very spooked by being in the relegation discussion (even if it does seem unrealistic, but so did Leicester winning the league until the results just kept coming).

In my opinion, it is very, very worrying that we are in a "shít has hit the fan" situation and Amorim does not appear to have a plan B.

It's also worrying that apart from Diallo, nobody has "swam" during this audition. Most appear to have sank. The investment needed to make Amorim's approach work just isn't possible.

He is nothing but words it seems. Seriously looking like another fraud.

Same shite most games, never changes anything even when it's obvious that every team is crapping all over his 'system'.

I'm sad, actually thought they had a chance today after a full weeks training.

“Fraud” if he was at Man City you’d be upset they got him

I'm just not willing to judge him when these are the players he has at his disposal. You have Maguire acting like a donkey dropping 10 yards off his man because he's too slow, when your manager is trying to implement a high pressing system. You have a midfield with absolutely zero mobility, a right wing back who can't deliver a cross in a system which relies on its wing backs as its main outlet. And a striker who can't hold the ball up or position himself correctly.

It's the players, and it always has been. Onana, Maguire, Dalot, Casemiro, Zirkzee, Hojlund. That's half of your starting lineup, and these are all players that wouldn't get into this Everton team. And that's a team that are 12th in the table, not fighting for Europe.
I feel that good managers make an impact with whatever they have. Any manager that makes a team worse isn't a good one.

Lose today (99% probability) and against Ipswich (likely) and he’s gone I reckon.
Not a chance.
He's got this season as an absolute freebie.

Then we'll have the most pressurised transfer window in our history and if we don't break the habit of the last decade (getting perhaps 10% of signings right), he'll be under pressure by the Autumn and gone by Jan.

You can't play this system without the correct player profiles.

Better form isn't the same as having better players though. Clearly the majority of our squad is better than Evertons.
Get ready for the posts telling you why our squad full of internationals is miles worse than Everton's.

Moyes has just done that exact thing at Everton

What do you mean? Moyes was brought in to revive Everton's season, just as Ruben was brought in to attempt to revive ours. ETH wasn't sacked for the next guy to come in and make the situation even worse.

At this point, he's an even a bigger fraud than Rangnick.

I'm all for backing the manager, but not when results are historically bad.

This is proper relegation form we are in right now.

If he gets the sack, I’m done with this team.

Got multiple managers sacked.

No one else is fixing this shit, what’s the point when the players are crap
Amorim is getting himself sacked with these shit tactics. On what planet is Amorim fixing this?

Unfortunately it's difficult to see how anything changes this summer, given that the club is broke.

We're not going on a spending spree to transform the squad, so he's got to make do with what he's got, whether we like it or not.

I don’t get the argument for giving Amorim a free pass because he inherited a mess. If he’s good enough, he should have been able to make at least some improvements by now. Moyes (who we know isn’t United level) took over a relegation battle from Dyche and is guiding Everton to comfortable mid-table.

He might have inherited a mess. But all he’s done since then is make that mess even worse. We’re genuinely on the verge of a relegation battle here. No matter how poor the squad is, it’s not that bad.

But people will defend him because he’s good looking and speaks well, as he overseas our 9th defeat in 13 league games. I genuinely believe he could get us relegated and you’d still have posters on here defending him.

You’d think watching this very match, with evidence of what a manager can do to improve a team, would end this fallacy

Getting him in the middle of the season was a horrible mistake, especially if he couldn't be backed in the winter. Regardless of the situation he's in, and whether or not it is his complete fault, his job shouldn't be safe.

Why does he not trust the academy to replace some of this lot if we are as bad as we are currently.

Oh I know it mate. People judge a squads quality on form over a few weeks/months it seems. Which has always been rather strange to me.

I’d like to see anyone here pick an XI from the players he’s got and explain why it will be better than what we are seeing.

The squad is absolute turd. It’s ravaged by injuries. You could put Pep or Klopp or Slot or whoever you fancy and you’re going to get the same result.

This same lot were flirting with relegation. They have just gotten a new manager bounce and a manager who has set them up to play to their strengths.

No way is their team better than us. Their strike force is better but this is no longer a case of us missing chances. It’s a case of the entire team crumbling. That is purely on the manager.

Don’t get me wrong, this team is not CL spots level, but they are not as bad as they are showing currently. The manager has just made us worse somehow and us blindly backing another manager will just worsen this rot.
Their strike force and midfield are better (they can run). People are still overrating our squad.

Everything INEOS touch turns to shite.
When they took over there was a strangely over confident tone on this board that making a few "football" appointments would get us immediately back on track.

Instead, we waited ages for Newcastle matey, then binned him almost immediately.

And there's no evidence any of the rest of them have made a positive step either.

Bringing a European wonder manager in seemed genius.
Until we realised that he was one way of playing and it's a way that is not only a real outlier of ever being successful in the premier league, but also is a system we have very few players suited to, and one most players don't like or are used to.

Rangnick was never there to be the manager, nor did he want to be.

Yeah, maybe. We would potentially be 16th if we lose the next 2 games. You think trigger happy SJR will hold his nerve?
