Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

New man comes in with the club in 13th but only 4 points behind 3rd. How crazy. I’m hoping that win doesn’t mean Ipswich suddenly look amazing against us but Amorim has an opportunity to spur this team to top 4 and if he does and it’s a massive challenge and massive if, then what a turnaround and achievement.

Unless I'm reading between the tea leaves a bit too much, it sounds like he's going to tell Ruud there's no job for him.
Agree, having an interim manager even as a coach won't be good, players who may not like new training methods or kot getting picked would have an outlet in Ruud, which could undermine Ruben.

Plus if ever we go through a rocky patch, there would be the specter of RVN taking over again hanging around after he's already talked about dreaming of the job in the future.

I don't blame him at all if he doesn't keep RVN as much as the romantic in me would like to see it.

Not that big of a decision at all. Mainoo should have never had this much responsibility placed on him at his age. This will allow the kid to grow without too much pressure. Case and Ugarte should start and Mainoo should be our 3rd choice midfielder. He'll get plenty of game time.
He started for England in the Euro finals, it's not like he's a raw 17-year old. He should be a regular starter because that is the level he has proven he's got. Not starting regularly will hold him back, not help him.

Maybe. But the problem is because of how good Mainoo has been and developed I’d say it’s hard to over look him. Was the first name on the team sheet last season.

Yep but he shouldn't be, he's a kid and I'd much prefer him to be rotated more, for his and everyones long term benefit. Ten Hag played him into the ground.

We can't promise anything. We're hoping he takes good care of us though. This club has been a poisoned chalice for five managers so far, but Amorim is certainly the one joining on the most upward trajectory in his career and we have a more professional setup for him to work within.

I hope whoever replaces him for you lot keeps up the great work this season before you cash in on most of your star players. Rooting for Sporting in the Portuguese league and the CL this year.
Probably we have been a poisoned chalice but I think we didn’t have really good managers really.

Moyes, Ole and Ten Hag weren’t the level required for a big club, every one of them having big flows.
Van Gaal and Mourinho were simply past it.

The good part about this is we are not even counting Eriksen, who has been our best midfielder this season.

Actually had to go and check that
It’s actually mad how inconsistent some of the sides have been, and as you say, he’s got the perfect opportunity if he can get the lads playing how he wants.

Really makes the season look a lot more positive going forward

Also we had rubbish options in midfield. You should always play your best player. If there good enough then there old enough

Talk of the Devils Pod, forget if it was Andy or Laurie, said they were hearing that Ruud will be let go.

It was Andy and he didn’t exactly say that he heard that. More a feeling he got after talking to Ruud. It felt like a goodbye.

It’s not very unthinkable that he will leave, but let’s see.

Nah think this is silly exhausted logic, burning out youngsters is a thing, even if they're good enough, they should be protected and not overplayed, same for most players in truth. It benefits no one to see Mainoo clearly not at his best but still playing, think that was obvious towards the end of last season.

What’s this I hear about him not taking training on Monday due to a delayed work permit? Nonsense?

Can you get a work permit before you get a job? Or can you only apply for it once you technically start? Surely the club would've sorted this out ages ago if they could have.

Overplaying young players runs the risk of them burning out both mentally and physically. Hell, just look at Barcelona over the last 5-6 years or so. They've had quite a few extremely highly rated young players come through and look great at first, played them almost every game, and it feels like all of them went on to develop significant injury problems that to some extent derailed their career. Hopefully Yamal doesn't go down that route. More importantly, hopefully Mainoo doesn't. From memory, despite missing almost half the season due to injury, he ended up playing more minutes than Ronaldo did at the same age.

You could argue that it’s worse burning out older players, Casemiro etc, Bruno plays every single game. As a kid you always want to play football for as long as possible… younger players are more fitter. I get where your coming from but when he’s fit he’ll be a started with Ugarte in my opinion. Amorim seems to like a young squad so doesn’t look good for Casemiro.

We all love Ruud but it is perfectly normal and logical decision. On this level you want your assistant with you. Someone who knows your methods and in who you have complete faith that things will be done.

I like Bruno, but if Amorim can get him playing deeper successfully then we should build him a statue. His game is built on taking risks with the ball that others wouldn't.
Bruno will play wherever and however the coach asks him to. He is very capable of being an 8 box to box and there is nothing to stop him playing his rangy passing game from the middle of the park rather than no.10 position. The bolded is a slightly silly comment. Bruno finished the cup final at CB for example, and he will always do what the team needs him to.

Anyone knows how long that would take? Also can’t he just come here in an initial visa they get permit later?
Not sure how it works in the UK, but here by us you're not allowed to switch visas while remaining "in country". So you would actually need to leave the country and re-enter on a new visa (which isn't as much of an issue in Europe, of course, as distances aren't monumental).

Someone who has the right skillz needs to knock up a picture of Amorim being denied entry to the UK by three uniformed staff with the faces of Slot, Arteta and Pep photo shopped onto them.
