Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Interesting to see how he will use Rashford and Garnacho in the 343, if at all.

Also interesting to see if there is room for our not so strong runners in CM, Eriksen, Casemiro and to a lesser degree Mainoo.

He means ETH refusing to talk to and consult Rangnick about what he observed. That was idiotic.
At the time I remember thinking that ETH was a bit disrespectful in not consulting with Rangnick. I can't remember if at that stage there was a possibility of Rangnick being retained as an advisor and it was as if ETH didn't want to give him the time of day

Someone who has the right skillz needs to knock up a picture of Amorim being denied entry to the UK by three uniformed staff with the faces of Slot, Arteta and Pep photo shopped onto them.
Maybe add Ruud as a forth member of staff

Hopefully not. Ruud have manager ambitions, he wants the job. I can see tensions, and problems by keeping him. I wish Ruud the best for the future. But Amorim should only bring his own staff.

Not deal with leftovers from eth era.

I think he had good reason to. Rangnick was like a fox in the hen house. He had zero tact and said everything like it was, as fans we agreed with him but I think it’s fairly obvious the players thought he was poison and ten Hag had to come in and work with those players.

If he had publicly come out and said he was consulting with Rangnick and respected his opinion he risked losing the dressing room from day 1.

I’d be surprised if ten Hag didn’t have a private conversation with him.

Yeah that's a good point to be fair.

I genuinely don't think he'll see the characteristics he wants from his setup for Rashford in any other position than the main striker. He can run channels, has pace, can make runs to be put through long and can finish (ususlly). It seems to be the position that least requires to press, even though all positions need to press together and effectively to some extent. We may see him tried out in one of the inside forward roles but i just cant see Amorim liking what he sees when it comes to his effort during the game. For the time being I think he'll rotate with Hojlund, possibly dependant on opposition

I am a big critic of Rashford and firmly believe we should get rid of him this summer, but I don't think it's possible for him to do a worse job as a striker than Hojlund. I genuinely don't even remember he's playing in the majority of his games for us. Invisible. At this point picking a striker is basically who we think will be the least shit, rather than a 'good' option.

I hope he's gonna recommend some decent players to Ratcliffe (or whoever is responsible for the new signings) not like the garbage ten Hag brought to the club. It's gonna be a long process though, as they have to get rid of several players which will be difficult as those players aren't really "marketable" to say the least. Who needs Antony, Lindelöf, Maguire, Malacia, Zirkzee etc... I also hope Bruno will revive hsi career, as he is by far our best player, but looks tired of fighting in an average squad under clueless managers.

So first day today? Where are all the reports? I read somewhere there was brexit issues?

We probably won't hear anything for a few days. Players not on international duty will be given a few days off, and for all we know Amorim hasn't arrived yet with the visa issues and him unlikely to have taken a plane as soon as Sporting's game ended last night.

He was just stopped at the airport in Lisbon. They found Gyokores in one of his bags.

You could argue that it’s worse burning out older players, Casemiro etc, Bruno plays every single game. As a kid you always want to play football for as long as possible… younger players are more fitter. I get where your coming from but when he’s fit he’ll be a started with Ugarte in my opinion. Amorim seems to like a young squad so doesn’t look good for Casemiro.
It can shorten a players career if they suffer burnout at a young age - Fergie spoke extensively about this during his managerial career.

Mainoo has great potential but he’s a young player that needs development too. Some of that may be proper rest times / not picked automatically. I have faith that Amorim will do what he thinks is best.

Literally nothing contraversial about what I said.
You think our best midfielder over the time he's been in the squad shouldn't play in favour of Casemiro who up until the last few games has been dog shit for the best part of 18 months? You don't think that's controversial?

Something I haven’t seen many discuss is that Amorim is dogmatic in using a left footed player as the right-sided no. 10 in his 3421. He literally doesn’t stray from this - Trincao or Edwards start every single game for him.

This suggests Amad (and probably Antony, funnily enough) will be given a trusted role in the team, and also that Fernandes/Rashford/Garnacho may all be in competition for the same role; though I suspect this won’t be the case and that he will force at least two of them in, quite possible with Rashford as striker, for better or for worse.

“Our best midfielder” is subjective. I dont think whatever they said is controversial.

Not so sure that 3 4 3 will work wll in the PL
They are now shit, but Glasner made it work very well last season (they have since fallen off, but that’s also due to them losing their best player by a mile, replacing them with duds and losing one of their key defenders).

So you think over the course of time Mainoo has been in the squad, Casemiro and Eriksen have performed better? Not including Fernandes in this as he plays further forward. He was competing against Casemiro, Amrabat and Eriksen and was comfortably better than all of them

As i said, it’s subjective. We played better as a unit without him. Our midfield didn’t get overrun when other experienced players were playing. You can blame ETH for tactics but without Mainoo, the organization was better.
