Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Not really sure why journalists are even allowed to ask questions about Rashford anymore.

If it was Fergie he would either hide it with some injury excuse, or if he was mad he would say Rashford is punished or something like that and would never hear about it again, same would probably happened at many big clubs that know how to handle this. I am really not sure I like the way they are dealing with this.

Yep, Fergie would have said its an injury whilst the player is pictured in training... so more questions asked in presser. Great logic.

Actually, I will refer you to a player a few years ago at Arsenal who was similar, Arteta dealt with it similarly.

Rashford has huge PR and contacts with journalists at the Mail who he leaks alot of information to.

I dont understand what is wrong with a manager saying I have set standards, every player needs to meet these standards.

He'd wouldn't have to, he'd either have sorted him the first time he pulled any bullshit or shipped him out. It wouldn't have got to the point it is now.

The United press officer needs to start putting their foot down in these conferences.

"The manager has answered several questions about Marcus Rashford now and in previous press conferences. He won't be answering any further questions about him. If there are no questions about the upcoming game, then we will draw this to a close"

It's not fecking rocket science.

If that happened it would undermine Amorim, and that "United press officer" should have been fired! If Amorim does not want to talk about Rashford, he can say so himself, he doesn't need someone else talking for him. Amorim is the boss, he has the brains (and the responsibility) to talk or to not talk about any topic.

That's literally the press officer's job

Nope. The press officer's job is to facilitate the discussion, not to forbit Amorim talking about whatever he wants. Amorim is the boss who decides, not the press officer.
Obviously they wouldn't do it without Amorim's agreement! But it's literally their job to brief the journos and let them know what the manager will and won't talk about. No-one's talking about them unilaterally getting involved

Just like there wasn't when he was in Belfast eh?
Not sure if you know what high end casinos are like but usually big clients get their own rooms and any staff that takes a pic or gets caught taking a pic is fired on the spot.

They don't need to do it. Period. It is Amorim who decides. If he wants to answer a question, he will answer it, if he doesn't want to answer it he will not. He is the boss. It is his job.

Ah of course. I'm sure he's snuck in via an underground bunker / back door conveniently avoiding all prying eyes. You can't seriously be this naive and gullible.

I'm not naive or gullible. I'm just saying what I heard. I really couldn't care less regardless.

That's what press officers are for mate.

I don't think you understand. Yes of course he can answer or not. But the press officer could brief the journos before the manager even walks in that he won't be taking questions about Rashford, then he wouldn't be put in the position of having to answer or having to refuse to answer.

Bold: it wouldn't be the first time. Berba, Nani, Fletcher, Rooney were all "injured" when they weren't even close to injured when they had complications during contract renewals. And no, there weren't any questions because Fergie would ban those questions/journalists, did you not read what I wrote?

Yeah, I don't really rate Arteta as someone who we should be looking at.

Yeah, I am not sure many people here understand how pre match press conferences work.

This is getting boring. So, here is my last answer.

If Amorim does not want to answer questions about Rashford, he will simply state "I am not answering questions about Rashford". The end.

He does not need help from the press officer. And if the press officer interrupts the discussion and says "Amorim will not answer questions about Rashford", everyone will assume (correctly) that higher ups asked him to preempt Amorim.

And even if we accept your faulty premise, IT IS AMORIM that has to ask the press officer to tell the journalists so and so. OBVIOUSLY HE HASN'T! Amorim has decided how to handle this, no need to discuss anything about the press officer, it is irrelevant. It is Amorim who decides what the press officer will say, not the other way around.

That's the press officer's job mate. To, you know, manage the press conference. You'll note they say things like, last question and this next part is embargoed until x.

The football is still so slow and dire, where's the pace. Even with low quality players I'd like to see more tempo at least.

It’s why I hate a wingback system. You lose all the excitement of dynamic wingers.

Rooney's annual boxing day injury or illness, because he clearly got shit faced the day before

We've seen this slow, turd football before regardless of the system though. I just can't believe that this is what Ruben is seeing in training. Do they just turn up and decide to take it easy, it's fecking baffling.

Playing with 5 defenders against this team ! Hope Amorim realises that : Dalot , Onana and Bruno aren’t good enough , we going nowhere with those players .

It’s infuriating mate. We kick the ball about at 0-0 with the intensity of a team that’s 6-0 up.

Amorim's preferred structure has one wingback who is basically a winger and both 10s can play as inside forwards
