Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Pretty sure that isn't the plan. Lots of players have been shouting at Mazraoui to play higher and he's ignored them.

Might well see Malacia at HT.
Amad is playing equaly deep. It somehow looks like Southampton has 1 player more on the pitch all the time.

If only he wasn't such a disciple of this system, have a lot of concerns with it given our squad.

Works for the top matches it seems.

Looking at Amad having the ball and there being no overlap, is so pitiful.
So far it only worked vs City and Liverpool because of individual brilliance and because their fullbacks were playing back. It isn't a system outclassing a system in those games.

Confused why he didn't haul maz and amad further up the pitch. It's insane how deep we are playing.

As we have known, we are shit in attack. Any system is hard when our attackers are dopey

System easily works against top teams but when we need the attacker's to do something and know where to go it's tough

Our precious assets Garnacho and Mainoo are the worst players on the pitch by a mile.
And feck me, Hojlund hasn't won a single first ball...

Not sure what we're doing. If we can't beat one of the worst ever PL sides then where is the next win coming from?

He can tell the players to push higher, he either isn't or they aren't listening. If it's the latter he should be hooking them.

When they did Yoro got spinned like he wasn't there. They can play higher but we aren't great at that still

There’s no excuse for having his team play so woefully poor football consistently. It can’t be put down to a lack of time on the training pitch. Something is wrong with the way he sets up the team when we’re dominated at home against the worst team in the league. It’s unacceptable.

I'll ask again, for the 5th time in this thread -who are our "best eleven"?
I see total of 5 reliable players in our entire squad.
How do you know your idea of "best 11" will have players performing?

He should pick the players who performed best in training and are in some sort of form.
Don't see anyone as "automatic starter" bar Maz, Ugarte, Licha, Amad and Bruno. And Bruno can have a shit day, no guarantees what you get there.

Also, who is our best striker? Hojlund is in awful form, Zirkzee is enigma, Rashford is out of the picture, even if he's not, he's awful n9.

Seriously, people went so over the top after Newcastle, it's actually embarrassing!
Casemiro and Eriksen are both 32, not retired players. They should have been able to handle the task.
It's extremely unprofessional to be unable to handle game tempo at this age! Speaks volumes about the players, not his "rotation".

We have two 32 years old midfielders and we're acting like they should play sporadically because they are "too old".

Real Madrid dominated Europe for years with Modric and Kroos, both well over 30, running the show.

Stop looking for faults in Amorim. He's the last person to take any blame for anything.

This. Some people are having a mare in this thread.

His formation works when we’re the underdogs but as soon as we need the impetus in games it’s a total shit show

It happens but he's definitely gotten the small details wrong today. Southamptons press I'd clearly frustrating our players and we don't know how to pass through it, while our press is failing as they have an easy switch on regularly. The 2 basic moments of play their plan is working and ours isn't. It's not always about effort or formation. Just small details sometimes and he just hasn't gotten it right today. Needs to change it at half.

He can tell the players to push higher, he either isn't or they aren't listening. If it's the latter he should be hooking them.

When the opposition are pushing players out wide we need to have the central defenders defend the channels and the midfield drop in, while the wing backs give the outlet .

Instead we're going into a flat back 5 and the midfield are dragging out wide. It's not what Amorim instructs

He won’t be here next season at this rate.

Been saying this for some time now. If we really do lose here tonight, it might be time to at least look at alternatives lest we get into a relegation fight..

You can't play his preferred formation with this current crop of players. Heck, this lot can barely manage to play in a 4-3-3, let alone anything more complicated.

I'm baffled by our first half set up.

The wingbacks being so deep has made it easy for Southampton to play out, our frontline is being outnumbered in the press, our midfield is trying to step out to compensate and its just giving Southampton loads of space to play through.

I'm not sure why we have set up in this way. Maybe we didn't respect Southampton but Amorim has to totally rejig this at half time.

Amorim said we've got to suffer....not against Arsenal and Liverpool but against the likes of Southampton

but seriously, reckon we'll win or draw this but we're just shocking, I can't believe how bad this attack has gotten

We've won only 2 league games since Amorim came.. Shocking.

Since City we've haven't won a game of football in 90 minutes. A month of football spanning December 15 to date.

Worrying. Very worrying

It's not nothing to do with the formation. It was the same story under ETH, getting battered by mediocre shite week in, week out.

Lose this and he’s going to be feeling the heat. We are awful in the league and not sure when or how we won games using this system and these players. We can say stick with him all we want but he needs to change something before we are draggged into a relegation battle. Nothing in that first half suggest we deserve to stay in this league either

wingbacks being so deep can’t be by choice. Something is not right with the implementation.

It's very difficult to dominate midfield with 2 player in this league. We will get pinged for 80% of the game and supposed back 3 will automatically always be back 5.

He's going to get us into a legitimate relegation battle.

The hard truth is that we would've been better off with Ten Hag for the rest of the season.

If things go on like this our set piece coach has got to go.

We can't be a home for coaching incompetence just because you're Amorim's pal.
