Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Dalot was good last season (probably our best player), good for most of the season before that and finished the season before that well.

He's been poor this season (although not as bad as some people make out), but this idea that he's never been good is strange. I don't think he brings enough attacking-wise to suit what we want in our wingbacks, but he'd been one of our better players for the two years before this season.

I think he has had just some issues in dealing with the wingback role and having to play both left and right wingback is quite a challenge. He has stayed fit and available though for a long time which is important as we would be in real trouble if he had got injured over the last year. Hopefully he can in time concentrate on RWB and maybe rotate with a more offensive player in certain games once we sort out the LWB position with a new addition. As a side note, how good has Masouri been at filling in all over the place and what a bargain upgrade on AWB.

Ten Hag talked a good game and was a stickler for rules off the pitch (i.e. Sancho social media post, Rashford late) but his on-pitch standards were appalling and he'd consistently let players get away with murder.

Game after game, the fans would have to watch Rashford amble around the pitch and nothing was ever done about it.

I've always differed on the idea of the team being lazy under ETH. I didn't really buy it. I generally always saw effort and on the whole a good set of professionals. What I saw was a lack of athleticism and technique coupled with this crazy idea of playing without a midfield.

The exception would be Rashford but it wasn't straightforward. Rashford rescued ETH's first season. He's got that Mr Manchester United profile.

It's not easy to then drop that player soon after. Even more so when the alternatives aren't really there or ready.

Without doubt towards the end Rashford should have been dropped more but ETH did his fair share of disciplining lazy players. That's not the stick to beat him with.

Transfers and set up. That was his problem.

That's all fine and dandy but how are we planning on breaking down the low blocks for all the teams that we can't rely on counter attacking?
Will definitely have some teething issue attacking wise and would result in a lot of draws, maybe (probably) a lot more than we would like

And for the record, I don't think it'll be enough to get top 4. But we will qualify for CL through winning Europa League

We haven't been solely a counter attacking team these past few games, the way we were under ETH and Ole. There's much more control in our play now, and we actually have a relatively calm grip on games as opposed to the madness under ETH. This should transition into better showings against the low block teams, hopefully starting with Southampton on Thursday.

I don't necessarily disagree, I have said elsewhere that "lack of effort" is a lazy criticism that generally masks the REAL issues at hand...i.e. poor coaching, poor organisation, lack of talent etc...

However, my point about EtH was that he never really properly addressed unprofessionalism / lack of effort from certain individuals - and that can impact the motivation of the rest of the group.

Rashford, for example...consistently lazy and unprofessional. Casemiro...that panenka penalty vs Coventry would have ended him for me...Garancho...too big for his boots etc...Bruno relentlessly petulant and sulking etc...

It seems that Amorim is taking real steps to address the issues that we have clearly had with mentality. Like I say, that doesn't necessarily mean "not trying" / "not caring"...but making players accountable for their actions and attitude on the pitch at all times.

Rashford, effectively gone. Casemiro...looks to be being phased out. Garnacho, dropped. Bruno...still petulant...but at least now talking and behaving more like a leader.

We have absolutely no chance of getting top 4. General prediction to make 4th is around 70pts. Spreadex are predicting that the 4th placed team in the EPL this season will finish on between 69-70pts.

Forget top 6 as well (63pts), 7th & Euro Conference League, no thanks, around 58pts.

For us to get 70pts we need 47pts from the remaining 18 games. In other words, Quick calc shows we need to win 16 of those 18 games. As I said, no chance.

For the record, Spreadex are predicting we’ll finish with around 52pts in mid-div. Personally I think 52 is a bit high but I’ll be a lot more happier when we get to 35pts & we can all breathe a bit easier.

we need to bring in 1 or 2 players this window to back Amorim and give him a couple guys that will fit his plan especially going forward

have to find a way to score more goals and not just on the counter

Good read but statistically dense. Spoiler: mixed bag Ten Hag v Amorim

We’ve brought in a real gem of a manager mid season. None of this nonsense that he needs years to implement his style. He’s come straight in and stuck to what he knows and won’t change it. We’ll be so much better of next season when the players are more use to this style.
