Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Merson and Agbholanhor. I don't know if you should feel encouraged by that.
I’m encouraged by Agbonlahor as he’s been our biggest critic recently and never says anything good about us.

Was watching some Amorim tactics breakdown videos on Youtube and one thing that was very evident that Rashford will struggle in his system if he doesn’t evolve his wing play. There is no place for passengers in his system and it would be interesting to see how our forwards integrate into his system and who are preferred

Rojo being the standout success obviously.

After Ten Hag basically tried to turn our club into Ajax Northwest, it'll be interesting to see if this new manager falls into the same sort of tunnel vision and just tries to recruit half of his former players.

Ten Hag lacked the strength of character and personality. Can see my comments a few days ago when I first started looking at Amorim’s videos etc the most noticeable thing about him is his personality/character and charisma. Just the way he holds the room and press conferences, the respect he command.

Now could be big fish in a small pond that gets eaten by the sharks as soon as he comes into the ocean. But I think that’s a very arrogant and stereotypical “premier league” way of thinking. Portuguese league is a very competitive league, there are 3 big teams that have big rivalries, the fans are passionate. So the pressure is there.

So I think Amorim clearly has the tactics and coaching ability which ETH had, but he also has the social intelligence, charisma and personality that ETH lacked but is essential to succeed

I’m worried he’s too young and won’t command authority. We’ve seen this group of players time and time again get sick of the manager and get them sacked. Then all is rosey again for abit under a new manager. Rinse and repeat.
The only managers I can think this didn’t happen with was Moyes and Rangnick - who never had the respect of the players in the first place.
What does this guy have to reassure us this won’t happen again?

We sell and buy new players all the time. Rashford, Shaw, Dalot, Lindelöf are the only ones in our squad now who have been here for more then 2 full time managers. Most of the players were bought when Erik was manager.
Rashford and Dalot are the only ones from that small group playing consistently in our team. So, these 2 players have the power to sack managers whenever they feel like it?

A United manager, a captain, and one of the greatest players ever. I’d say we’ve come out of our dealings with Sporting pretty well.
We should give them Rashford for free. A generous 20% gratuity for their service.

Who exactly is this group of players ? Only Rashford and Bruno is still here from old days . Shaw is getting sold next summer and Evans is a thorough professional.

ETH stubbornness, not lack of charisma ultimately cost him in my opinion.

I think he got rattled and started over thinking. People forget how effective his subs and rotations were in season 1,but midway through season 2 he grew afraid of taking any risks as his job seemed on the line every other week, and he stuck with out of form players who had done well for him in the past just sort of hoping they'd come good again. Rashford the prime culprit, fof example, was awful all season and diallo may well have risen to the challenge and freshened things up but only featured late in season.

@Sly what’s the consensus in Lisbon after his presser yesterday. Have people calmed down cause he tried to stay till season end?
Yes. His press conference was very clarifying. Just the hardcore ultras are still against him.

The other thing in amorims favour, i hope, is that ten hag seems to have left a better character of player. The fears of a bad dressing room that we have from previous managers should be lessened I think - pogba, sancho, Greenwood, martial, Henderson for example have all left since the summer ten hag took over, as have some injury prone sorts like Jones, bailly and van de beek. That alone is 8 players who for one reason or another can't have been providing the best energy around the squad.

Our current squad may not prove talented enough but i think have far better attitudes than the squad previous managers took over, i only really have doubts about rashford.

A bit more positive towards Ruben.
Most of the people I talked with understood his position and although it's not ideal for Sporting, they understood that the opportunity wasn't going to be there at the end of the season

This photo is the most offensive thing that gets posted on the cafe.
Pretty sure Weaste in a dress or stockings in the past was worse.

Actually i forgot the poster’s nick. He was the one that had the voyeur thread in the general. The caf was a different place last time

This group of players? It's incredible that people still go on about this, and it really is one of the laziest and most overplayed takes in the fanbase.

Firstly, there's not many players left from before ETH came, and even less that get a lot of gametime. The squad of players have been refreshed and changed just as much as the managers have been.

Secondly, you're never going to see a much more obvious case of players still trying but being let down by poor tactics and managerial mistakes than what we've seen over the last 18 months. As such, why is it 'the players let the manager down' rather than 'the manager let the players down'?

This should be a warning these days, the amount of times it gets peddled is infuriating.

Still scratching my head because of him saying he "We can't play like Ajax" after signing Antony, Onana, Martinez, de Ligt, Mazraoui and Eriksen. All of whom have played at Ajax under his management besides Eriksen.
