Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Proper sly cnut with those answers. Good stuff.

Just watched the press conference. Blimey, I'm so ashamed of the journalists in this country. Absolute rodents. Not a single question about the game

To be fair they did ask if they would play against Spurs, so that was at least something related to the game.

It's just the way of football journalism now, look for comments in order to create a tweet and headline to generate clicks.

Indeed, credit to the manager for already stamping an imprint on the side in big matches.

The last manager we had who would approach big matches without fear and with determination to control the match was LVG

Now if he manages to teach him how to cross the ball...

Amorim did say his United team couldn’t play like his sporting team after they thrashed city 4-1. In which they mainly countered. We definitely went toe to toe with them. Love it

that looks like mighty craic lad, I almost pity the 9 City fans in the middle of that.
This happened in Kenyan coast city called, Mombasa.

Btw part of the Kenyan coast has been voted the best Beach in Africa for 6 years in a row.

We seem to have found ourselves an outstanding manger. The way he answered some very awkward questions today was very professional, he was calm and collective and you can clearly see how he has been so successful so far in his career.I hope he keeps to his principles and standards.I have a feeling we are turning into a very well drilled and disciplined team. One or two of his type of signings and i think we will soon be on the up.

I said I hoped we wouldnt play that way pre match and was told counter is the best way to play them and it's fine I just don't like the approach

He does a great press conference.
Shows emotional intelligence, a quality very much needed in dealing with people who in a lot of ways have never grown up.

Ye it use to be the most successful way against them as they tend to have lots of possession. However, this season I think teams need to go at them. Kick them while there down.

I'd love to think he's got them sat down watching the u18s right now. They pass the ball better than the first team. They look a proper team.

He’s definitely scratching his head at the state of media in the Uk. “ we will continue to ask about Rashford until you give us a headline so go on do it “
He dealt with the questions very well to be fair to him

His answers are amazing. So smart and always meaningful. The he has the biggest challenge here like all players is bloody brilliant

He's a young guy, who I'm sure is relatable to the players, being almost one of them, taking on the monumental challenge together. Obviously that's not the key component he will also need to be immense at his job, but he's definitely the kind of profile this squad needs.

It's cringe listening to journos trying to ask leading questions looking for a click-bait headline. It's funny how he handles the media so well without letting them stir things.

Been so impressed by his handling of the Garnacho and Rashford situation this week.

On Rashford, he clearly likes him and is proactively trying to find solutions to help or motivate irrespective of the players relationship with the club.

Having the stones to drop him from the squad for the derby was one of those things. He's openly says that he’s trying different methods but the players have to help themselves as well so that's still to be seen.

That being said, going off his answers today I don’t think it’s completely out of his the players hands. He left them out on his own accord because he saw some things that he didn’t like. By his own words he said it's just the small details.

He’s been a player before, and one who also had a disciplinary issue at his boyhood club no less!, so he's about as well qualified/equipped to handle this sort of thing as anyone really.

All in all, don't think he could much more to impress me further over his maiden month and some change at the club

Early days still but truly feels like we may have finally found our man at long last.

He's the most press-resistant manager we've had since Fergie

If the players can play 3-4-2-1 chances are they can play 3-5-2, 3-4-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-3-2-1 or even 4-3-3.
Most top teams are in a 3-2-5 in attack. Please check up on this. It’s funny, because this is an old formation… Scottish origin if I remember correctly, please correct me if I’m wrong.

Many top managers are trying to approximate this formation in attack, including Pep. That’s why he’s had one fullback or CB drop into midfield… and he’s lauded as a genius. Ruben just plays it straight as a 3-4-2-1, simplifying it.

5 attackers vs 6 defenders (4-2-3-1) will create a decent chance at least 20-30% of the time, and when you have superior attackers, skill-wise, it’s good enough to win a game.

The attacking 4-3-3 is just basically the same. The two attacking MFs move up, one of the fullbacks support the attack (strong side). Seriously, I legitimately wonder how many on this forum have played high level football.

Rashfords PR release seems petulant now.

"I'm ready for a new challenge."

Well there's one here waiting for you Marcus, we're happy to have you if you put in the work, put up or shut up.

part two of the presser is on YouTube now. Just as good at dealing with the questions as part one

It's fecking moronic that he even has to deal with these questions in the first place. Counting down the days now until he's gone.

For Rashford to set up that PR operation in the school, he must've been told by the club that he is no longer a player they count on.

This was him trying to get his side of the story, and trying to come out on top of it, stating that he needs a new challenge.

Normally, the coach is trying to protect Marcus Rashford, the asset. But he is not willing to carry him as a passenger. He is clearly not doing some stuff in training the way he should.

I've seen a quote from Amorim, assuming from the Embargo section, where Amorim says that he would've welcome Rashford addressing his future with him first.

After the first 2-3 questions, the press manager should have said we will take questions on the game if there are any. Not allow entire presser to be same Marcus Rashford questions asked in different ways.

Why is Dalot doing his trademark celebration in the interview?

Thanks for posting because I did think that myself and it's nice to hear a player say it.

I double checked the possession stats a few days ago and saw we were way closer to City than we had been for years. The last game that was reasonably close in that department (that I can remember) was a very drab 0-0 game under Ole in which Pep set his team up very cautiously. I think every other game over the years has seen us cede way more possession.

Some positive signs in the big games so far.

I noticed he is now more relaxed and enthusiastic when asked about team as compared to his first few pressers. Looks like he is satisfied the way team is responding to his tactics.

Amorim is so present and there seems no way around him. He is super smart and the journos are trying hard but his message is brilliant every single time

The press conference was fecking annoying. I know it's a free county and all but can't ask the press officer stop the stupidity after the second Rashford question and tell them no more, the rest of the presser is going to be about the game or the 50 other players in the squad that we have.

Pure puff piece that entire article, especially the 4 year old who apparently said "Thank you for the food Mr Rashford". Like feck a 4 year old would say that

Yep, even against Arsenal, I didn’t feel we were really in too much trouble.
Against city we broke some long term records of entries into their box at the Etihad. Something that never would have happened under ETH.

And yeah agree that LvG was the last to attempt it. And he didn’t do too badly in those games but the issue was always that bit of risk and freedom. Like under LVG im not sure Amad is allowed to run with the ball repeatedly or Martinez is allowed to play a long ball over the top in the 90th minute.
