Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

I hope he keeps Rashford out of the picture with his recent comments.

A main worry of mine is if he's so married to this system, surely it's a matter of time before it gets figured out. In 3-5 years this formation and style will be old news, will he have the nous to evolve it over time?
I mean could you not say that about any team and their system ? Strange post

No, it's a taco. A sandwich has two separate pieces of bread. A taco has one, wrapped around the contents. Ergo: A hot dog is a taco, not a sandwich.
What if you accidently break it into two pieces? Does it then become sandwich?

Just seen his touchline reaction to our goals and result. The man is ice cold, 100% focused.

True to an extent, but how many times did we have to settle for extremely overpriced 3rd choice transfer targets? Screamed of situations where managers demanded one thing, the board said another, and then we were forced late into the transfer market to overpay for dross.
The other way around, Toni Kroos. But I'm glad it fell through for him. What a career to have that definitely would never happen here. Bankers doing the negotiations for us was a big factor.

As a Mexican, I disagree. Real tacos are not made of bread or any flour-based products. They are made of corn tortillas. Once you introduce flour-based products, a taco turns into a burrito. Therefore, a hot dog is a sandwich in a very similar way that a Philly cheesesteak is a sandwich as well.

I don't create threads at this esteemed forum but if I did a sandwich thread would be it. Filling, flavor and preference. No judgement. Especially on your basic two slices.

My wife is half Mexican (and half Irish ). She would agree on the corn tortillas. And I prefer them as well.

But Philly cheesesteaks are a religion unto themselves and I'm not going there.

Moyes rejected Thiago (which Fergie had worked on) too and he placed Zaha into fridge

Did Martinez even hear him though... Amorim's miles away and it looked like he was only talking to himself
This type of projection comes up under every manager. Internet sleuths with too much time on their hands try to exaggerate normal things into extraordinary events by finding these type of clips. You'll always find clips of good goals turn into "This is hag ball", "That's Van Gaal's philosophy finally into action", "Ole's at the wheel and it's zooming".....

Every team is capable of scoring good goals and show patterns of play. Premier league players are a select few highly skilled individuals. What separates the great teams/players from the other team/players is their ability to do it consistently week after week.

Dont think Martinez is that far away to not hear. Martinez was already looking at Amad any way before that shout out. Fair to say both Amorim and Martinez picked the correct option.

But its good to see an active manager on the sidelines who is going for the win

Wasn't he on the same side as to where the dug out is? His first move after the goal was to come and celebrate with the coaching staff.

I love it when people worry about stuff that might happen in 5 years time. We can't even string together 2 wins at the moment but we're stressing about getting found out 5 years down the line.

Maybe so, but barely a month ago we could barely string two passes together. Hope is the only thing keeping half of us alive.

If the players can play 3-4-2-1 chances are they can play 3-5-2, 3-4-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-3-2-1 or even 4-3-3.

Still early days I know but does anyone else actually look forward to our games now? They used to feel like such a chore to watch, something you didn't really want to do but you knew you had to do it, like washing the dishes.

I now not only look forward to the games, but also any interview, pre-post match pressers etc. anything Amorim related has my attention.

The football isn't the best. Reminds me of peak LVG ball, but at least we're seeing some form of progress. Especially in defence (outside of set pieces).

Attack still needs alot of work done. But weeding out the mediocre underachievers like Rashford is also progress.

It's quite ironic that Rashford's United career started with LVG whom under he was very good and now we finally have a good coach he can't be bothered and his United career is coming to a halt.

the second time I love to listen to press con of our managers post-fergie (him and ole).
Moyes lacked confidence
LVG was always like a crazy drunkard
Mourinho too antagonising and occasionally hostile/sarcastic
Ten Hag boring

God almighty it's all about Rashford in that presser isn't it. No idea why this is made such a big deal. The press really is something else.
Ruben handled it well. Had to laugh about his answer to the challenge question. Quite cheeky response.

Ruben Amorim asked whether Rashford's comments will cause problems in the dressing room:

"I think they [#mufc players] are more simple than that. They focus on their job, everyone, all of the players, I was a player and we were a little bit selfish so they are focused on their job to win a place in the team. I don’t think it’s even an impact in the team."

Ruben Amorim on if Rashford and Garnacho will play vs Tottenham:

"We have one more training but it’s the same as the other players. If they train well, then I have to make a choice. We’ll see at the end of training - I expect the best of each player every day so we will see after training."

Love this. Not everybody is thinking about Rashford 24/7, he's just one of the players, refuses to get drawn in his circus. He either plays to the level or sits on the bench, the rest doesn't matter at the moment.

Ruben Amorim on Rashford saying he's ready for a new challenge:

"He's right. We have a new challenge here, the biggest in football. We're in a difficult situation, and I hope all my players are ready."

I think Amorim does this perfectly. United is Rashford's club, and performing for his own club in this time is a very big challenge. Either you really want a challenge, or you want out because you can't handle the pressure or are not capable of performing to the standards of the new manager.

Marcus' media performances have really been annoying me as have his performances. Stop making yourself the victim and get back to the top of your game! Such a talented, local lad who seems like a decent person off the pitch. It's this 'waste' that irks me maybe. What could've been..

Love that response!
