Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

I feel like we stumbled upon our best XI once Mount went off. Looked very balanced.

Really took some brass to drop Rashford and Garnacho from the squad today of all days and Amad rewarded him.

So happy for him...whoever the Man United manager is, it's gonna be an almost impossible job.

Deserved it today...United have been far more comfortable in possession since he arrived.

GET IN!!!

I've not been particularly impressed with anyone manager since Fergie and have been very negative about them all. But I have a good feeling about this guy.
Same.

He inspires confidence in you like no other post Fergie manager has inspired. You feel that he'd get us back to the top if we can get our recruitment right.

Very good set up, even when we were 1-0 down, we created better chances. City barely had a good chance.

Huge credit to him and team for playing with ball, instead of just playing defensive
Yep. I was prepared to be positive about the performance even while we were losing, because we were the better team all along and got fecked over by the ref.
To go on and win it is just magnificent, gives him a much deserved reward for his excellent work.

Its clear that our new system is a work in progress and far from where we want it to be. Beating city away while in the very early days of trying to implement it is a huge bonus. Credit to him for sticking to his guns so vocally from the off

He was very lucky today but I love his trust in Amad and general approach to building this team back up. I do want to see us go for games more though - today was a very fortunate win and we'll take it all day long as we build.

It wasn't a fortunate win at all. It was a deserved win.

They need to be a bit braver in passing through the lines. We are so tentative with our creative passing which leads to us just recycling the ball. We desperately need another player like Amad who not only can play intricate football but also beat a player on the left. We also desperately need wingbacks, Dalot and Mazraoui are okay there but we should be upgrading them. We could also do with Gyokeres.

Given City scored from a deflected cross and Bruno missed a clear chance. Where was the luck?

He's became the Man United coach today. He did the lot. Late winner from 1-0 down, massive headache from two of your stars leading to a massive decision, 3 points away to City. He's arrived.

He got the game spot on tactically. City were basically nullified. The only thing lacking was creativity and aggression which Amad thankfully provided. We have a good one on our hands here but for him to succeed we need to back him with better players. This squad isn't good enough.

What did City create against us?

First time we’ve matched city. Especially at their place. Once Amorim gets the right players in we’ll be sorted

This sort of narrative was criticized a week ago. Now it seems more reality than fantasy.
You can see the patterns of play are developing and the team looks a team, once it all clicks the top 4 will be an expectation at minimum again, but I feel for anyone who was afraid to believe given the last 3 years, but Amorim has me believing!

His defining moment here thus far. Very happy for him. You just know that the English press would've been on him for Rashford's exclusion if we'd lost.

First manager since Fergie to win a derby on the first try. Different era but it’s nice company

Yes yes yes, the signs have been there from day one since he took over, and I'm sure we will have more bad days buy all we want just signs of progress and I think and I hope we finally have it

This is only the beginning under RA and things can only get better as the weeks and months go on

I'm not sure why you'd say it was a lucky win. We've had the better chances and had opportunities to score more if Bruno could finish or if Amad could stay onside more. City on the other hand didn't have any similar chances. On balance we deserved our win.

I'd guess because they are still hung up on being wrong about Ten Hag for a year.

Not that many great chances created but UTD had the better of them. But watch pundits and the media peddle a lazy narrative that City deserved but threw it away. When from chances created this was the right result. At worse UTD deserved a draw

Precisely. The ship doesn't turn around in an instant. It requires iterative training and execution, which were in the process of seeing now.

City are shocking but we were the better side and deserved to win. It wasn’t lucky, City barely did anything and were the lucky ones to be so close to winning the game.

Brilliant coach. The progression in our system since he's joined is wild. He's only been here a month and he's just coached us to dominate City at the Etihad. Love it.

Brilliantly set up by Amorim, second half we got a lot of touches in their box and created the better opportunities, equal possession. City didn't have much aside from a corner. Some are getting blinded by the double UAE advertising hoardings.

Massive result for him. City might be nowhere near there best but we’ve managed to impose our game on them in their backyard and come out with a deserved win. Amorim will improve us massively as he gets more training time with the players, and we need to find a way to get him the right players in the transfer window too.

How was it remotely a lucky win? We tested Ederson more often and our xG was higher. City barely threatened at all. We could have played better at certain stages but that doesn’t mean it was lucky.
