Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

He’s won a CL, he can’t be that bad!
So did Werner to be fair and he’s awful. Get what you’re saying though… on paper Mount is a good fit for Amorim and he brings energy but he needs to give us a lot more and stay fit.

Beat Rangers at home in January and we've qualified in the top 8. This really was a great result tonight.
We won’t be beating Rangers at OT barring a lucky breakthrough. This team can’t perform particularly when there’s something at stake. Chances are, we’ll snatch a draw.

By then we should have hopefully a settled 11 and a bit of consistency. We’ll beat rangers.

Finally a manager who has the balls to take a chance with tactical substitutes early on and take off underperformers.

A player like Eze at no 10 would seriously improve our attacking game.

Like what he says about the players fighting with each other. That stuff should be pretty normal within a team after a game, next time they better be sure that the pass will be made. For me it's even good to see it after a win, shows that they want more form each other.

This.

I'd much rather these dynamics than the likes of Pogba and Lingard dabbing in the dressing room after yet another 3-0 hiding.

Also, Amorim keeps saying in his pressers that though the team has control of games, we have "a lack of pace" and "we lack [enough] runs."

This is exactly what the fans have been saying about this team since the EtH era. EtH never seemed to identify these as issues, and it is great to hear Amorim point them out. It will take time for those issues to be fixed since time on the training pitch is limited, but at the very least he will be attempting to resolve them.

A more unrealistic but better player would be palmer. comfortable as a 10 or out wide which is what Amorim system needs. As the 10s tend to drift out wide

I’d like him to try Maz on the left:

Hojlund
Mount Bruno
Mazraoui Mainoo Ugarte Amad
Martinez De Ligt Yoro
Onana
Good shout

Think theyre all fit & available so we could see this some time soon

Vastly improved performance in the 2nd half after a tumescent first half. Zirkzee started brightly and then appeared useless after like 10mins. I think it was more down to Rashford drifting way too wide and Amad just not making runs in behind the defence which meant both of them occupying the same areas. That's the thing with a player like Zirkzee though, if his flicks don't come off due to not being on the same wavelength as others then you'll see a player who ranks high in possession lost. Think it was the first time Amad started at no.10 with Zirkzee up top so I can understand the lack of chemistry.

We do need to cut out these stupid mistakes we keep making though. Fair few games this season already where mistakes from our players directly lead to goals. Second half was great though and we could easily have scored 4 or 5 goals. Mount was good after coming on and was guilty of not scoring one of his chances. I still have hope we can make something of him.

Rashford though, is completely hopeless. Not sure any manager can get him to put in some effort at this point. Especially liked how Amorim hooked him off right after his tackle in the 2nd half as he was risking a red card. Shows a proactive head coach who didn't wait until things got worse.

If we play against City like we did in the 2nd half we will easily beat them. I just hope we don't go back into our shells and put out a tumescent performance.

Amorim is real deal. Love him so far

He has overall better stats with a new system Ten Haags players and constant rotation, impressive.

Possession bit is the most satisfying, although most of the times it hasn't led to anything (yet). I suspect once Amorim figures the best XI and those players adapt to this setup, AND we stop making brain dead blunders, we'll start to at least dominate bottom half clubs soon. At least we seem to be moving in a direction.

We learn nothing new. Our players attitude stinks, they play and are slow and so fragile they mess up often. Be ruthless in selling them and get fresh blood in.
I also think Bruno is still a huge issue for our overall play but we still seem to depend on him. Find a replacement in summer too please

Think we are closer to figuring out what his best team is. Amad and Hojlund need to be part of the front three. The final spot can be Mount or Bruno depending on if he ultimately wants to play Bruno deeper or use Mainoo.

The Wing backs, and really the entire back 6 are the biggest question marks I have, but we are slowly seeing him figure out who his best team is IMO.
We need to buy great players for wing back positions and a very good striker if we want Amorim to succed.

And a great CM + AM as well. Maybe even a new GK and a couple of CBs to rotate and cover.

Basically a new team we need, yes yes I agree.
We have so much deadwood, it’s impressive : Rashford, Antony, Eriksen, Casemiro, Malacia, Shaw. Zirkzee, Dalot, Martinez and Mount didn’t impress as well.

That's an old issue. Our midfield has been poor at giving the player in possession options for years now.
I think both are the culprits. I don't disagree that players in our midfield not being comfortable on the ball contributes to this, but the struggles of our defense in releasing the ball quicker is an issue to0. Besides Martinez and Shaw (when fit) we don't have players in our defense who are very comfortable on the ball or have the vision to spot that quick pass to release our midfield and attack. Their dilly-dallying and standing on the ball gives time to the opposition to set themselves in defense and makes it difficult for our attackers, who aren't very good dribblers who can beat defenders from a standing position.

Overall, I don't think we are going to become a very good team unless we learn to move the ball faster through our defense and midfield. Some of which is a personnel issue and some a coaching issue. It'll take a while to sort to it out, imo.

I am still convinced he is the right man and I really don’t think some of these players will get away with the poor performances they are serving up due to lack of effort and commitment.

The system is taking shape and everyone can see the areas we need to improve are primarily the wing backs. Amad has done well at RWB but is more suited as a 10. We will also need good cover at WB due to the demands of the role.

I do think when January arrives we may see some incomings but they will be low key and possibly only short term stepping stones.

When the schedule clears up a bit his preferred 11 will become obvious and this will lead to an upturn in results and performance as team cohesion will rapidly improve. It’s frustrating to see the combinations of lack of desire and intelligence in some players it must by infuriating for Amorim. He’s not exactly reinventing the wheel telling them to sprint forward and back.

It’s going to be a hard watch for us but if you have watched the games over the last few years you will see the seeds have been planted.

Why does Mount keep getting added to these line ups? What’s he shown to deserve him starts? Missed crucial chances tonight

You think it was another coincidence that we looked more full of energy and passed the ball quicker when he came on? He still needs to do a lot more, the chance he had he should have buried, but I'm starting to think people have made thier mind up about Mount even before he'd kicked a ball for us and just don't want to shift their opinion. That or its as simple as "he did not score goal he did not assist he crap" mentality.

Our only CB who is really good at playing out from the back is Martinez, and I'm not gonna count Shaw because he never plays.

None of our midfielders are good at progressing the play(apart from Eriksen who cant run).

So if our CBs cant progress play, and our midfield cant either, what we are left with is CBs recycling the ball amongs them, the attackers never getting the ball in dangerous areas.

We desperately need midfielders who are super comfortable on the ball and who can play forward passes. We need a #6 who is better on the ball than Ugarte, and Mainoo needs to step up his game, and we need proper competition for him.

It’s hard to back up that we started passing quicker etc because he came on. We started passing a lot better and playing slightly better because we went a goal down. It’s the same every time we go a goal down, it’s the kick up the backside we always need. We never play with intensity when it’s 0-0, we would have probably been happy with a draw if they didn’t score first. I haven’t made my mind up on him, I’m just questioning why a lot of people have him in their line ups despite seeing him play many minutes and the times we have seen him he hasn’t done much to justify starting.

People are putting him in for the reasons I said, you just aren’t seeing it. He in theory and in practice what we’ve seen so far he suits the football the manager wants us to play.

Thanks for this.

It's nice to see the small progress there in the stats.
Plus it's plain to see an actual style, even if the players mess up the final passes a lot.

Because everyone else is worse and he's actually a good fit in the system. Mounts issue is staying fit and getting a good run of games.
