Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Revert back to the formation we’ve always played and we will never improve. Good on him for sticking to his guns

If these performance levels don't improve he will not last long. This is as bad as anything we've seen.

He's a good coach but it's looking increasingly mental that we brought him in to implement a completely new system in November. The players all look uncomfortable and confused.
They've been trying with ETH for 2+ years, they simply don't have the intelligence to absorb anything.

This is going to be the longest pre-season in the history of football!

I'd rather have the rest of the season look kind of bad and give Ruben time to drill his system and weed out the players who either don't fit or won't work to fit, than get jumpy and put another manager on the hotseat so early in his tenure. We have a bloated payroll and a lot of players who don't seem to have the chip on their shoulder required to be great. These up and down performances are not a surprise to me.

The signs of improvement are quite evident, but there’s a long way to go. The struggle for goals and shaky gk always makes it difficult because you’re always under pressure and never comfortable. I’m pretty confident that Amorim will get this right, but only if recruitment is good.

Genuinely surprised (although I shouldn't be) that so many people here are throwing themselves off a cliff already just because things are (predictably/naturally) getting worse before they get better. Ten Hag ran this club into the ground, that's why we were all so desperate for a change. Amorim literally said there will be a storm ahead. I don't care about the system looking inapt for the players we have at the moment (because these same players have looked devoid of character, creativity or cooperation no matter what formation they are set up in) and I don't care about finishing top four this season as that was always going to be unlikely. I am quite ready for us to get pummeled a few times and to have a few more dispiriting nights like this one. If the picture looks the same this time next year, then we can re-evaluate.

Scored 12 in 6 under Amorim. Not really struggling for goals anymore. 23 in the last 10 games since Ten Hag was sacked.

That first half was deeply disappointing and slightly concerning IMO. That was some of the most dire football I’ve ever witnessed. Luckily, the second half was better - perhaps due to the subs - but a United team should never look so clueless regardless who’s on the pitch.

Well played in the 2nd half. We squandered plenty of chances late on which could've easily made it 4-1.

The guy must be in utter disbelief at the lack of quality in this squad. Coaching can only get you so far, there’s a quality issue in this squad that can only be fixed in the transfer market.

I see Rashford, Dalot, onana are playing themselves out of the squad.

Mount, Antony will get more game time cuz they at least put in a shift

Subs made the difference. He'll be learning which players are up to it and which aren't.

Antony put a shift in?? For real?

All I saw was a guy who proved again that's he's not capable.

He probably needs games like that to really assess the backbone of the squad.
Rashford and Zirkzee come away with that probably fearing for their places and rightfully so.
Mount and Rasmus massive brownie points.

I like how we're being a little more creative from set pieces rather than just hopefully hoofing it into the box. A couple of goals under Amorim have come from clear set piece rehearsals.

Players need to be more braver with the ball and make better decisions. The amount of times we had the ball with space to run into or an opportunity to play between the lines but went square was infuriating. Unfortunately, just like under ETH we don't start with any fire, passion or intensity, it's all too measured. I don't like midfield combos but I totally understand why Amorim is doing that. Hopefully he is seeing all the lack of quality and will make long term adjustments. It's gonna be a long season.

The substitutions were solid today, but I would’ve preferred to see Amorim start with natural wingers out wide, especially against a team we were expected to dominate—and ultimately did.

I appreciate his approach in how he's tried to utilize all of the players he has at his disposal so far.

The game was heading towards a roadblock for us and likely dropped points before his subs changed the dynamic of the match and gave us more energy.

The match was basically won off those changes. I like that he's giving everybody a chance to show they're not shite

Unfortunately we have quite a few players on the books that are showing they're not up to snuff but at least the manager will know definitively early on.

We got the result but he cannot be happy with the performance. It was laborious & lethargic. A lot of work to do for him to get us playing even half decently.

Still, he looks better than the last couple of managers in three things:

- Rotating the squad
- Making proactive in game changes that actually have a +ve effect.
- In his desire to win and not sit on draws.

We can win Europa if we are able to get him some help in January.

Good subs by Amorim, brought a lot more effort and will to attack.

I do believe it's best to see the players and get this bit out of the way while new here and rotation is a huge aspect to keep the freshness of good players anyway. We can't go down the road again of overplaying and injuring the few ok players we have.

Changes won the game. Brilliant

god I almost forgot how bad Zirkzee was
