Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Too early to start sack watch? These players will throw him under the bus as well

The players just aren’t very good, they aren’t capable of making a decision to throw a manager under the bus. Their level is much closer to the mid table teams than it is the ones who will finish in the top 4.

He’s making positive changes but has a crap team. The next couple of transfer windows will be huge for United, I don’t think any single player is too good to go.

This is actually true for the most part, obviously there are exceptions, but let's say the large majority I wouldn't be sad to see binned off.

As much as people won't like it Bruno and Rashford just need to be sold. And I'm not saying that because of performances. Their sales will generate a lot of income for heavy investment and both leaving can't make us any more bad because we're bang average with them in as is.

Only way for Amorim, sell these players asap to get in more.

I think United made a mistake going for Amorim. Not because he is a bad manager, but his 343 is too far from what we have in the squad of players to fill the roles.

They should have got a standard 4231 manager. The players would have slotted in. We could improve the team in January and Summer and kept some sort of continuity of philosphy and tactics.

As of now, we need to solve wing backs, striker, CB and attacking mid. If we had stuck with 4231 wed only need wingers and striker.

If Amorim gets sacked, wed have probably sold aload of wingers and brought specialist wing backs, only to be left with a new manager that wants wingers and full backs again.

Seems daft to me to bring in such a big change of tactics right now when we rebuilding.

Amorim was/is the right choice. There was always an expectation that there will be rough sailing ahead until the squad adapts to his formation and tactics, especially given that he inherited ETH's players.

He needs to stop playing Dalot on the left because that means we have no attacking output on the left side.

If a manager can’t get a tune out of top players then there’s something wrong but we don’t have top players, it’s a squad of shite. He probably can’t believe how technically and mentally pathetic these lot are. It’s gonna take 4/5 windows but it’s the only way, back him and built a team to his strengths.

Feck sake, not this again. These players have shown feck all in 4231, and that can be said for all managers post-SAF who have tried that formation.

I am now starting to low key accept that these players are quite shit collectively, maybe 2 or 3 good individuals, but as a group, shit, of course this is something else to case of Amorim being a good coach or not, but whether he is good or not is meaningless, until this squad is totally overhauled.

I'd only keep Amad and Mainoo, maybe Ugarte and Maz, Yoro is young, the rest, not good enough whatsoever.

Poor fella, he has to work with a team that is not half as good as his previous team Sporting, and he is expected to do something with them

I hope he's being paid very well. This United side is a career ruiner. They better let him bring in some players in January.

The positive is that the irritating pretence that he is already some kind of United legend should have lost a sizeable chunk of fans if not be well and truly gone now.

he needed to keep and learn from Ruud.

Amorim is under relatively little pressure this season. And bringing him in now gives him more time to implement the system before the start of next season.
There shouldn't be much pressure put on him. No reasonable person expects us to get top 4, and everyone knows half the players are shit and not suited to his system. Next season is when we should expect to see some real progress and when he should be judged
I don’t think Amorim is under any pressure given that he inherited a squad in 14th, so as long as we remain within spitting distance of top 4 (we are only 8 points off if we lose today) then there should be no complaints given the unprecedented circumstances under how he arrived mid season with new tactics and formations.

The pressure will be on regardless. If we end up 10th, people will still blame him, and the conditions are tough. In the summer, he would have the backing and more time to work with the players, and therefore not suffer a huge blow/credibility like now. Plenty of fans will turn on him this season, and the momentum will go away. It is a bit of an unfortunate situation and only adds to the difficulty.

Banning anyone who is already binning off Amorim would seriously do this forum a world of good

Support Amorim all the way, get rid of the poor players. I trust him, he has the identity and the idea just have very little talent to work with. Its amazing how we manage to end up with such a poor squad after spending so much.

It's pretty disheartening that we look the worst team in the league at defending set pieces after he brought his own set piece coach in, and Onana looks ropey as soon as his GK coach replaces Ten Rouwelaar.

Hopefully it's coincidental, and the Onana performance is a one off and we tighten up on corners etc, but not great early signs.

It doesn't matter how much the fans or board want to give him time, ultimately our media is so toxic when it comes to Utd and it's hard to ignore. You can hear it already, 2nd successive defeat and with games against City and spurs coming up, it won't take them long to say he's not the man for the job.

Then fans pick up on this and they start asking questions and before you know his job comes under threat. Everyone doing podcasts these days too, the media often dictate a managers future, but if we don't start getting results in games like today, then it will be hard to ignore those critics after a while.

honeymoon period over. Players sabotaging the next manager nothing to see here. Amorim in for a rude awakening if he still put in trust the same players next season like Dalot, Garnacho and even Bruno and Onana

New system or not, that’s a game Amorim absolutely should be winning at home.

The balance just isn’t there, and it’s becoming increasingly obvious.

He keeps deploying Amad as a wing-back with Dalot on the opposite side, yet hasn’t tried a more logical setup—Dalot on the right and Garnacho on the left.

It’s clear as day that Garnacho isn’t a No. 10. He’s had enough opportunities there, and he’s consistently failed to impress. The same goes for Dalot on the left. At this point, it’s frustrating—switch it up already, for feck’s sake!

You’ll always struggle when you’re giving the goals away that we gave them today.

Free unchallenged header from a corner.
Bruno giving the ball away in his own third
Keeper howler
Dalot letting someone have all the time in the world to make a cross
Martinez letting the ball go into the net

It’s actually impressive to have that amount of errors in a game like that

What, like the moral winners? Maybe we should start keeping an alternative league table RAWK style.

Surprisingly enough that's not even close to what I meant. My point was that we were the better team and the loss isn't on the manager.

You think a GK coach has anything to do with what Onana did today. I kid you not the u15s keeper would have saved that

As someone sat on your arse at home watching the game it's easy to say but the manager has to manage fitness and Bruno looked exhausted
Bruno always played 90 mins and most of his managers have suggested he doesn’t need resting , even Rubin. When we were chasing a goal I’d have left him on. We were clueless when we went off and Mainoo somehow managed 90 mins and was hopeless

Surpised that Dalot lasted the whole game

Everyone knows his job isn't under threat unless we're relegated.

Hopefully he’s realising just how crap some of these players are. Getting rid of most of them over the next 2 years is crucial. We / he will tail if we hang on to tight to perennial losers.

He needs to stop playing Dalot on the left because that means we have no attacking output on the left side.

This problem is compounded because Garnacho and Rashford can’t help build attacks if one of them is on the left. They both need room to run into - not good at playing football in tight spaces

Think we will see some more honest quotes coming out in next week or so.

He is telling it as he sees. These players are not good enough to play for a massive club.

Last at least 6 years we tried with whole, X needs few windows to clear up deadwood, i mean, people want them to repeat same shit and expect different outcome, you cant add few players each window, till you get to next summer, those new additions turn into new deadwoods due influence of those that survived initial window.

he needed to keep and learn from Ruud.

Ruud wouldn't be helping matters, given that Amorim has his own assistants to work with.

Backline is the our strongest area "on paper".

It doesn't look positive at the moment. There is some change in the way we play but so far it's just sterile possession against teams that know how to defend (and they don't even need to be very good at it). I still worry how this system works without a natural ball carrier in the back 3. Neither of Martinez/De Ligt also look comforteable there.
Yoro is young and not physically developed fully. But his athleticism doesn’t seem great.
We conceded two so easily due to weakness of Martinez and Yoro. It’s a lesson to the new manager but I think he knows it. He said our players are so small in size as compared with opponents.

Really weird subs. Only Maz made us better. The other subs were shit. The defensive organisation for set pieces is embarassing.

It’s a new system. It will take time. Some will adapt but many will fail as they’re bang average regardless of formation.

I agree its a tactical issue. I just dont think his 343 will get anything out of this squad. Im not saying he isnt a good manager.

Our only hope is some decent attacking players walk through the door in January. Osimhen and Nkunku would help.

It's mental. Amorim himself said he goes after results BUT also prioritizing changing how we play so by the same time next season we'd be in a better position than to be here again *which to me also sounds like he wants to provide a baseline so when he gets new players in, the system had started than having to restart everything again. Some of these people are expected the instant Sir Alex Ferguson because the man himself needed time!! Amorim hasn't even been here for a full month ffs.

If he wants he can just play 4-3-3. But he won't.

Hard to blame him entirely but when you win 4-0 with two players both scoring twice, it seems pretty poor management to then not start either of them in the next two matches.
