I think it's way too early to be making these "he rates xyz" assessments. Three games with a decent number of players injured or just returning from injuries.
I don't even think the Arsenal game will be particularly telling in that regard, especially with the amount of fixtures and the stressed need for rotation. I don't think we'll have an idea of preferred starting 11 til the next year. I mean, Maz has been playing CB and Amad RWB - granted they've both excelled but I don't think these are being done with long-term in mind

We don't really like our players here but we do adore our coaches.
Noticeable that his teams seem to improve and be better organised in the 2nd half of games. It’s been the case in his 3 games with us so far and the same in his last 2 with Sporting. Small sample I know.
So who are the ones we think he’s starting to pick more regularly?
Mazraoui - spoken highly of,started all three
Amad - spoken highly of
Onana (obviously)
De Ligt - started all three
Bruno - captain, started all three
He’s spoken very highly of Leny Yoro calling him a special talent so it’s fair to say he’s in the running.
You’ve gotta think down the line that Ugarte is gonna make his way in to the team more permanently.

Every day there seems to be another interview. It's absurd.
It was obviously a very good decision. But I think it's not a high level management, any FIFA player would have done the same - put players in their best position and see them shine
Common sense has been rare for us I know. So many head scratchers by previous managers. Playing a defensive striker in Weghorst when we only had a few goal scorers was the most confusing one. Although to be fair at the time some of us thought it was a genius move.

Almost all the players are getting rotated and those two are the only ones we have for that more defensive role in midfield. As such they've been rotating with each other, which makes perfect sense for most opposition. One plays, one gets rested (and does more intense training), then they swap for the next match.
It'll be interesting to see what he does against Arsenal, as playing both of them may be the best option against top teams. Ugarte is a certainty, so it'll be either Bruno beside him or Casemiro while Bruno plays further forward.

SAF could get pretty emotional he turned red but he did it in the right moments. I hope he has it in him as well. Players these days tend to be more disrespectful towards a manager if he's failing/not as prestigious as the players.
Eloquent. Intelligent. Honestly, he was never anywhere near my first choice over the last few years (before EtH's appointment, since, and again when EtH was fired - je was like 3rd on my list at best)...but shows you what I know.
I'm all aboard this train. I'm convinced we made the right appointment each passing day/interview/match.

Sadly, in times where cults of personalities develop around podcasters and people who play video games online, I don't think it will matter.
I really like his personality. He comes across very well in these interviews. Night and day compared to most of our recent managers.

It really feels different this time...I do want to get on the Amorim train but been burnt far too often so whilst I am fully supporting him ..I am holding a little back.
Pfft! Does it really make it more bearable if you spend the whole time hedging your bets? It means you don't get to fully enjoy anything for ages as even if he does take us back to the top it'll still take years. Go all in! If it falls apart well feck it that's what life is about. Enjoy the ride. We're fans. We're not supposed to be all sensible and cautious.

Yep, whilst I think its different, I think he could be the one. He hasn't been here long and has established a connection with the players, you see players smiling and laughing post games.
Obviously we have only just began his reign so alot to see but come mid January, there will be strong opinions on both sides about him.
He faces 5 big games in this period and he has to show he is capable of winning a few of these games.
True. But even Ole and ETH won a few of these. I think we’d all like to see decent performances in these games whether we win or lose. If we win whilst playing good football against the better teams then it’s a bonus. We won some under Ole and ETH whilst not playing the best football.
Yeah, but thats what buys you time as a manager. ETH beat Liverpool, Arsenal and City in his first season which bought him time.
The performances were also good. There were also times under Ole, we had good performances and results vs the big teams.
As a Manutd manager, you have to be winning those games, otherwise the pressure mounts.

But you ignored my point when i said "Our midfield two were not making themselves available."
It is more of a case of the defence having to pass back and forth across the back line due to lack of options through the middle and us often being outnumbered in there.
I just like being able to watch these matches and see a clear tactical plan, even if the players at times lack to ability to execute it. His rotation has also been excellent. Just enjoying these small things as the larger picture continues to unfold. Refreshing for now.
Bit early but I am seeing organised, positively intentional set up on the pitch after a very long time. ETH had something going initially but it wasn't like this.
The performances were okay. The Liverpool game probably the only one I would say stood out as memorable, and it wasn't memorable because we were all of a sudden amazing, but because of the 2 previous bad results and the subsequent post game cross country session he had them doing.
The 7-0 on the other hand, that's memorable.
If we lose but the team put in effort and a good performance then it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. The system needs to be worked on week in week out and that time includes in game.
Agreed. I'm just thinking if he had any thought to start those two against Arsenal, he'd have them get some minutes together prior. But maybe he has seen enough of them during RVN's games that he doesn't need more.

I know we say oh if the team puts effort and its a good performance, it doesnt matter. But what does that mean?
Would you be happy with 20% possession and we lose 1-0? If the performance is good, we should win really or draw.
