Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Apparently Ruben Amorim doesn't like his chant. Says that he's just the coach, that supporters should sing about the players and the club.

Link in Portuguese so you guys can practice.

I don't think he meant he doesn't like the chant. What he meant was that he prefers that the fans chant for the players and the club to egg the them on rather than chant his name.

Everything he utters our of his mouth makes me fall in love with him even more. I would be really really distraught if he doesn't work out.

Pull yourself together. He's only been here a wet week.

Against Arsenal we’ll see a bit more who he’s starting to rate the most I reckon
I was thinking this but then when you look at our fixtures, we have plenty of big games anyways so he'll probably keep rotating to stay fresh.

I think it's way too early to be making these "he rates xyz" assessments. Three games with a decent number of players injured or just returning from injuries.

I don't even think the Arsenal game will be particularly telling in that regard, especially with the amount of fixtures and the stressed need for rotation. I don't think we'll have an idea of preferred starting 11 til the next year. I mean, Maz has been playing CB and Amad RWB - granted they've both excelled but I don't think these are being done with long-term in mind

Noticeable that his teams seem to improve and be better organised in the 2nd half of games. It’s been the case in his 3 games with us so far and the same in his last 2 with Sporting. Small sample I know.

So who are the ones we think he’s starting to pick more regularly?

Mazraoui - spoken highly of,started all three
Amad - spoken highly of
Onana (obviously)
De Ligt - started all three
Bruno - captain, started all three

He’s spoken very highly of Leny Yoro calling him a special talent so it’s fair to say he’s in the running.

You’ve gotta think down the line that Ugarte is gonna make his way in to the team more permanently.

Anyone else?

He understands the player’s strengths and weaknesses in a way Ten Hag never did in 2.5 years and he’s only been here 3 weeks.

ETH was foolish, he consistently put players in positions where they could struggle. Amorim’s reasoning for playing Zirkzee ahead of Hojlund yesterday was high level management.

You can tell he watched a shit load of our games prior to joining and already knew what changes he had in store for each player. Nothing like when the clown Moyes joined and when asked about Chicharito said “they tell me here he’s a good player”.

Even for the players like Dalot, Amad, Mazraoui and Bruno that are playing really different roles. He has belief in them that they can do what he wants.
It was obviously a very good decision. But I think it's not a high level management, any FIFA player would have done the same - put players in their best position and see them shine
Common sense has been rare for us I know. So many head scratchers by previous managers. Playing a defensive striker in Weghorst when we only had a few goal scorers was the most confusing one. Although to be fair at the time some of us thought it was a genius move.

Please leave Pep alone

I still don't understand why he's reluctant to have Case - Ugarte in midfield. Case is pretty creative when he's not being a sole DM. Those games under RVN, he and Ugarte looked really solid providing platform and linking to attack.
Almost all the players are getting rotated and those two are the only ones we have for that more defensive role in midfield. As such they've been rotating with each other, which makes perfect sense for most opposition. One plays, one gets rested (and does more intense training), then they swap for the next match.

It'll be interesting to see what he does against Arsenal, as playing both of them may be the best option against top teams. Ugarte is a certainty, so it'll be either Bruno beside him or Casemiro while Bruno plays further forward.

SAF could get pretty emotional he turned red but he did it in the right moments. I hope he has it in him as well. Players these days tend to be more disrespectful towards a manager if he's failing/not as prestigious as the players.

Eloquent. Intelligent. Honestly, he was never anywhere near my first choice over the last few years (before EtH's appointment, since, and again when EtH was fired - je was like 3rd on my list at best)...but shows you what I know.

I'm all aboard this train. I'm convinced we made the right appointment each passing day/interview/match.
Can't help it. I adore him.
Get in line!

Sounds like he might have a bit of hair dryer treatment in him

He says all the right things but we should not be carried away with words. He is clearly very good at communicating and comes across really well.

At the end of the day, you are judged on the pitch and how you perform in the big games is also a massive factor.

Started of well but lots to improve on.

I really like his personality. He comes across very well in these interviews. Night and day compared to most of our recent managers.

Helps that he's young but already has a pretty good reputation.

The wingback position is crucial in Amorim 3-4-3 system. Amad is nailed on at right wingback and likely the first name on Amorim team sheet. But Luke Shaw is nearing 30 and prone to injuries. If we aim to improve and be genuinely competitive under Amorim, we cannot rely on Shaw as our primary option. He would either become an expensive backup or need to be moved on during the summer transfer window. Signing a top quality left wingback in the summer will be a key priority for United and Amorim.

Still people obsessing on the wingback thing. The right back is a winger not a wing back.

Shape does not dictate player role.

I know....

It really feels different this time...I do want to get on the Amorim train but been burnt far too often so whilst I am fully supporting him ..I am holding a little back.

Pfft! Does it really make it more bearable if you spend the whole time hedging your bets? It means you don't get to fully enjoy anything for ages as even if he does take us back to the top it'll still take years. Go all in! If it falls apart well feck it that's what life is about. Enjoy the ride. We're fans. We're not supposed to be all sensible and cautious.

Even though he doesn’t mean it, it just feels like these are all truthful digs at Erik. Haha. Love see him talk like this and being so open.
But I thought the only possible way to talk to the press is be incredibly dull, say nothing of substance and pick random fights with no mark journos

Yep, whilst I think its different, I think he could be the one. He hasn't been here long and has established a connection with the players, you see players smiling and laughing post games.

Obviously we have only just began his reign so alot to see but come mid January, there will be strong opinions on both sides about him.

He faces 5 big games in this period and he has to show he is capable of winning a few of these games.
