Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

I still can't get around all the hate Bruno gets. Rashford is understandable but Bruno is always 100 per cent.
Bruno is prone to being selfish. Especially his decision-making, when things are not going well. That can rub people the wrong way.

The timing couldnt be better for Mount. Its like a fresh start and under a new coach that likes players like him.

"I understand we will need more than 2 years, but we have to win something, somewhere."

I think he will go full strength in the cups and Europa. He understands it is important at United to win trophies if you want to ask for patience in the league.

Eth winning the fa cup and being out the door months later shows this is less the case really.

I think most will want to see us form a footballing identity on the pitch rather than win a random trophy. He will get time if it looks like we’re building towards something, unlike Eth’s football which looked like we’d worked on nothing for 2 years

A lot of it is a media driven agenda.

His numbers are astonishing. Yes he has brainfarts but if he plays bad the whole team plays bad. Why is Bruno supposed to be delivering 10/10 performance every match? Some of it can be blamed at EtH as that's how he wanted to play. But we would all be envious if he played for someone else.

Will be interesting to see where Mount plays in the system, CM or 10 behind the striker. I’d imagine the latter.
That's what I took from it. I posted a line up with Bruno in the CM next to Ugarte, but realistically, I think Mount is more disciplined to follow the instructions given for that role. Against certain opposition, that role won't need a defensive type of player. But a player with good work rate, discipline and the ability to find a pass through a team with a low block would work well. Mount could be one of the key players under Amorim, given he stays fit.

Incredible

'I would be obliged to point out that his body language, if he were at a job interview, would be considered to be throwing up some red flags,' James added. 'His gesticulation is frequently incongruent, meaning it is in contrast to his verbal messages, creating an impression of self heckling.

'When he listens, he uses the engaging eye smile, and his mouth falls open slightly to suggest keenness and openness. But as he primes himself to reply, he turns his head to the side as well as his gaze. This could be down to translation issues. He could be looking away to focus on his English. But it looks evasive.

'When he is asked what gives him the belief he is the person to improve United's fortunes, he begins to scratch his wrist in an act of distraction, looking away to say "I believe in myself" and then wringing his hands, cracking his knuckles and meshing his fingers in a display of what looks like inner anxiety, and rubbing his thumbs on his fingers in a self-comfort ritual.

'When he speaks about the players his words sound encouraging and reassuring. "I truly believe in the players" is his verbal reply, but his non-verbal signals hint they should not be feeling too relieved just yet.'

Finally this week we get to see King Amorim leading his team with prince Bruno as skipper!

FFS! Pathetic. You literally never get this level of forensic examination from the media at any other club in the league. I get that United bring in the clicks but it’s no wonder players and managers struggle to replicate their previous success here, the pressure is absolutely immense. Studying his fecking body language in his first press conference at the club before a balls even been kicked!

You look at a club like Liverpool who are the second biggest club in the country and Slot’s been allowed to come in and quietly go about his business with a lot less spotlight on him. He’s come into a new league and has had the time and space to implement his ideas without the media breathing down his neck and questioning his every move. It’s an extra challenge that every Utd manager has to overcome that managers of other clubs simply don’t experience. Thats what makes this gig so tough and why it takes a very special individual to reach the heights we all expect at the club. No it’s no surprise the vast majority of the clubs success came when we had two great men in Sir Matt and Sir Alex at the helm.

Selfish? Wrong adjective I feel.

Bruno is captain and wears that responsibility. If the team aren’t doing it, he simply tries to do it himself. He is carrying the team as our best player when our other top star MR is out of form, and he tries to force it.
We are still a collection of talented individuals and not a team. I think you can see this frustration in Bruno’s game, but to call him selfish is incredibly harsh. 9 times out of 10 he will play the pass if one is available.

These quotes are good and all, but why do people magically think our team is suddenly going to keep the ball and run their arses off? Has he seen certain players strolling around, and other certain players who can't keep hold of the ball without seeing their names in lights? I'm under no illusions that Rashford and Bruno will remain as much a problem now as they did before. Bruno while his heart is in it, just isn't that guy who's suddenly going to change his game and become a possession type player. Rashford simply isn't good enough for us and never was and he checked out with the latest contract and will no doubt do the bare minimum until he inevitably falls out with the manager and gets a sulk on.
And this is why we paid ten million and gave Amorim a £6.5m contract to manage these issues. Ten Hag chose to play them no matter what and look where that got him and us? If he comes in, falls out with key players but raises the consistency of our performances and results who would care if Rashford is sulking on the bench?

I don't follow much media these days. Is their a media campaign against Bruno?

People should probably expect a risk averse approach with some boring possession until it all clicks
Definitely, I think we will see a lot of sideways passing, the players will need to adapt over a few months. I’m happy we will go through the growing pain now.

I hope he will get the backing of not only INEOS but Berrada, Wilcox, and Ashworth should a few players decided to undermine his plans (because they're more hands on). He can't win that kind of battle alone. Even a club legend like Ole had to step down and the end pattern was always the same, some players basically stopped playing for the manager when the going gets really tough. United will never run out of players to play, even if that means relying on less talented options. As long as they work hard and not causing problems within the club, it's much better than relying on very talented ones that are hurting the club from with
Toxic player power needs to end.

I think we have a potentially world class team but we've been poorly coached.

I don't think we need 3 windows and another 500 million, I think we need a clear system and the right coach and we'll be competing.

Exactly

Sorry if someone already posted this. My first impression of Amorim is the same. Who knows how his reign will go but it's nice to have good first impression. Won't count for much if it doesn't translate to the pitch of course.

I've never heard Samuel Luckhurst sound positive about anyone ever.
