His value has increased from 12m to 20m to 30m in the space of two months. At this rate by the time of Jan Transfer Window, he'll eclipse Ronaldo.

This time last season everyone was raving about that other Everton player suggesting we should buy him....now he seems to have been forgotten

Well, not really last season. More like 2 seasons ago.

Rodwell was poor last season.

I think it is easily to spot the talent and potential of Barkley. But 30m is way too much at the moment. 20m is more like it.

the raw talent of Rodwell is incredible - but he hasn't developed quite as well as he should have - injuries taking a fair bit of the blame.

Rodwell needs to stay fit. the talent is obviously there, but he needs to play games to develop as a player. with arteta gone, he'l play a lot of games if fit.

"Rodders is a pile of shit" = I haven't actually watched any of his performances this season but nobody is raving about him anymore so he must be.

He's just after man-marking Silva out of the game very well last weekend, again showing maturity beyond his years I thought.

Everytime I've seen him hea been pretty much non existent, and yes I have watched him a good few times, I've seen Barkely twice briefly and it's obvious that this guy has talent, just looks all ends up a United type signing.

The same Silva that ran the game yeah?!

silva didnt run any game vs everton. rodwell did a brilliant job on him. a major reason why the score was 0-0 so long. silva was creating very little of note.

He scored a goal, offside albeit and set up the decisive goal aswell as hitting the post. I'm pretty sure he was man of the match too. And Rodwell did a great job you say?

The offside goal and the hitting the post happened after city took the lead. likewise with the assist.

balotelli's goal meant everton had to change their style to try and equalize. before that, they were playing for a draw and rodwell was on silva and doing a great job at it.

am surprised you're suggesting otherwise after having watched the game.

Change of system or not Rodwell failed to do the job he was assigned regardless if Silva moved position or not. Your contradicting yourself mate.

How am i contradicting myself here?

everton were playing for a draw and rodwell was assigned to mark silva. he did that brilliantly and silva barely did anything of note till city scored.

balotelli's goal meant everton had to be more adventurous. rodwell's role became more of a normal midfielder rather than just sitting on silva. this meant he no longer marked him and started playing with more freedom. silva took advantage of that. i dont see how that is any slight on rodwell because the goal changed what he was asked to do really.

as long as he was asked to mark silva out of the game, he did so brilliantly

Whatever I'm not arguing with you and boring everyone to tears, fact is Rodwell is over rated.

i dont think anybody is really bored by footballing discussions though. thats what we're here for. anyways, your wish.

for what its worth, rodwell isnt overrated at all. a very obvious talent that needs games to show what he is capable of. he needs luck with injuries.

You must've been pissed while watching that game.

Yawn, that's why i barely comment anymore every topic turns into some bellend trying to cause an argument and ultimately leading away from the discussion.

My opinion is Rodwell aint all that, very over rated indeed. The lad Barkley on the other hand looks a real talent.

Except that it was you who first commented upon Brwned's post.

I don't really know what else I was meant to say? I said he did a great job of man-marking Silva, you said Silva ran the game...am I meant to say 'no, that game that he was marked out of'?

Rodwell's only a few months ago turned 20, has yet to get a run of games in his best position in midfield (often used as a utility player) and Moyes has previously said that he's going to use him as a centre back long-term...where he hasn't played him at all. And then there's the injuries. Maybe in a couple of years Distin'll have gone, Rodwell will be moved back to centre back or just with more experience he'll get a regular run as the holding midfielder and he'll look great again...I think you just have a bit of a fetish for flair players so I can see why you don't think much of Rodwell. That said, you were talking up Delph a couple of years back, is he shit now because he hasn't done much in the PL?

Barkley looks to have a lot of class though, yes. Still tries too much (obviously, being 17 and all). Bundles of self-confidence though, maybe what Rodwell's lacking a lot of the time. Comes across a bit timid, when he's confident he looks impressive to me. Looks a good midfield for England technically with Barkley, Wilshere, Cleverley, McEachran, maybe Morrison (and Rodwell).

There'd been talk even before the season started that he's the best player Everton have ever brought through, Everton fans suggesting that academy coaches consider him better than Rooney, and David Moyes has previously said he would have made his debut last year (likely as a 16 year old) if it wasn't for his leg break. Scored for the u16s as a 14 year old...I don't know if that's common but it sounds impressive anyway.

He looks impressive when he plays from what I've seen, thats all I have to say. Looks to get the ball outside the box and looks very good at creating the space to get his strikes away with quick feet. I also felt he was just as impressive as McEachran in the England youth team which was successful months ago

Rodwell is very comfortable on the ball and did a good job on Silva. I dont see him as being something we need but he's still a good young player and I dont see a reason yet why he will never go to a top 4 club

The same Silva that ran the game yeah?!

 I take it you didn't watch the game? Silva couldn't get into the game in the first half. He ran the show once City went 1-0 up.

OK fine Rodwell is awesome, fecking bullies ;)

Just to clarify, I've not been banging the drum for Rodwell. I've never "got it" with him and pretty much every time I've seen him play he's been anonymous.

He was good at the weekend in that role though. Maybe now the penny has finally dropped with Moyes and he'll stop using him as an attacking midfield player.
