I honesty think it'll comes down to either Chelsea, United, or Roma.
> Barca doesn't make sense. They need a CM to compliment Dembele/Suarez/Messi. Even in a 4231 getting another winger in Mahrez to play out wide and playing Messi centrally doesn't really add up. There's a reason why they are linked to Coutinho/ADM as it's the best fit to compliment the attackers + free up the likes of Iniesta.
> Arsenal reportedly out and makes no sense from Mahrez's POV to join that dumpster fire of a club atm. It'd make more sense he stay at LCFC. If he really wants to play for a top side and regain his form from 2 years, you go to a genuine title contender which the Gunners are not and a manager who can get the most out of him, definitely something which Wenger isn't capable of compared to other managers in the league.
> Spurs? Just unlikely in general.
> Chelsea very possible but there's been reports they're not willing to pay the £50M transfer fee despite being interested. Sound similar (Lukaku)? Their board definitely isn't on the same page as the manager as there's quite the miscommunication it seems.
> The silence on United's front is odd as they usually release a statement saying we're doing nothing which hasn't happened yet. Wouldn't surprise me to see Mahrez happen because of that especially when you consider no one really has a clue where Mahrez is going, really does seem like a situation similar to Lukaku where teams are hesitant and United could be silently doing their HW behind the scenes ready swoop in and secure their target if he indeed a target.
> Roma have been willing to pay the fee for some time but it's been reported Mahrez's first choice would be to remain in England with his family.
...if it comes down to Chelsea and United for Mahrez to remain in England, I have to imagine United will pony up just as they did for Lukaku and make it happen. Don't see José allowing Chelsea to acquire such a player in his crucial 2nd season on a given team where he's expected to win the league historically. You just know he'll do anything within his means to give United the best shot at winning especially at the expense and direct loss of a rival. If somehow Chelsea nor United are interested (highly doubt it), then I can see Mahrez going to Roma being sort of a last resort from his perspective.
