Riyad Mahrez | Staying at Leicester

Is there any real indiction on where he's going any reliable journos etc?

Nothing other than the Algerian National team saying he's been given an absence of leave to finalize a transfer.

Everything else is as good a guess as anybody.

Wish list for the sake of everyone:

Mahrez -> United
Sanchez -> City
Draxler -> Arsenal
Barkley or Drinkwater -> Chelsea
Aurier -> Spurs
Lemar -> Liverpool

...do NOT want United left behind with everyone else looking to add a player(s). Need to match/best the quality others are looking to add.

Does this guy really provide width on the right? From my admittedly crap recollection and youtubez it seems he constantly comes inside onto his left foot.

Duncan Castles has been on point with absolutely everything this Summer. So there's no reason to think he's wrong about Mahrez not joining United

He's a classic wide player that offers genuine duel threat in being able to hug the touchline or cut in. Also possesses true two footed power on top of being a counter attacking catalyst.

...compared to what we have, he'd be an upgrade no questions asked. Offers unpredictability out wide something which Mata or no other player on the squad does at RW.

Not really. He's got quite a few wrong. Can't recollect which ones. I don't think he knew about the Lukaku transfer or the Lindelöf one.

Also said we were in on Lamar which literally made no sense from the get go.

Most reports say it's between Spurs, Chelsea and Barcelona. Barca might sign him if they miss out on Coutinho. Don't want either of Chelsea or Spurs to get him.

I think it will be Barca depending on a Cointinho deal falling through. I'd obviously like it if we have him on board.

Mahrez can play centrally, but he seems best on the right. Pretty much the opposite of Coutinho who can play wide but better in the middle. If it's Barca, shows even more so thag they don't know what they're doing.

With no clubs being linked that strongly and Leicester receiving no new bids yet could this be another Odemwingie situation where a player desperate for a move has left training (with permission in this instance) to be ready should bids come in and the situation change?

He has been praying for a move all summer so maybe that's all this is.

People saying things about duncan castles, You need to know he will only say what Gestifute/Mourinho/mendes want him to say. It could all be games and shit chatting from him to suit his overlords. His articles are to be taken with a bag of salt.

He can definitely go down the line and put in cross with right. On paper the ideal inverted winger

Nah that's not fair. You can't say someone has got something wrong just because they didn't report on something.

Anyway with Lindelof, he said a deal agreed before United announced it. He was first on Mbappe to PSG when everyone else still thought he was Madrid bound. Correct on everything he's actually reported this Summer as far as I remember

If Barca want him they must be changing formation as he wouldn't start ahead of Dembele, Suarez or Messi.

Odemwinge was an exception and not a norm. I think mahrez might have contact from couple of clubs so he is ready to leave, his valuation is set and the buying club needs to pay thats it. He wont be driving around the country and turn up at training ground opf another club.
I think Mahrez might be a 2nd/3rd option for Barca/Liverpool/United/Chelsea/City who all have been linked with wingers. So maybe he is told to stay ready.

I think this might be just Mahrez himself preparing in case of a bid, rather than being any actual concrete interest.

Why would Barca want Mahrez after signing Dembele? Literally nonsensical. But then they're desperately after Coutinho, so maybe they've totally lost the plot.

Great player that just downed tools after the title win because he didn't get a move.

No doubt he would improve us, but with Mata on the right would he really offer much of an upgrade as a wide player? Seems he's most dangerous cutting inside which Mata can also do.

World class on his day though.

Well, yes. Mata is good because he roams the pitch freely picking up space, but that doesn't help the team in terms of shape and organisation.

Mahrez stays wider and then cut's in once he has the ball. Mata still can have plenty of game time in rotation with Mkhi.

Fact is though he will probably end up at Barca and be a star, everybody will wonder why we weren't interested.

Seriously, some people seem to be enjoying slagging him off despite stats being on his side.
Being on his side?

He went from 17 goals in 37 games in 2015/16 to 6 goals in 36 games last season. There's an obvious tail off...

I honesty think it'll comes down to either Chelsea, United, or Roma.

> Barca doesn't make sense. They need a CM to compliment Dembele/Suarez/Messi. Even in a 4231 getting another winger in Mahrez to play out wide and playing Messi centrally doesn't really add up. There's a reason why they are linked to Coutinho/ADM as it's the best fit to compliment the attackers + free up the likes of Iniesta.

> Arsenal reportedly out and makes no sense from Mahrez's POV to join that dumpster fire of a club atm. It'd make more sense he stay at LCFC. If he really wants to play for a top side and regain his form from 2 years, you go to a genuine title contender which the Gunners are not and a manager who can get the most out of him, definitely something which Wenger isn't capable of compared to other managers in the league.

> Spurs? Just unlikely in general.

> Chelsea very possible but there's been reports they're not willing to pay the £50M transfer fee despite being interested. Sound similar (Lukaku)? Their board definitely isn't on the same page as the manager as there's quite the miscommunication it seems.

> The silence on United's front is odd as they usually release a statement saying we're doing nothing which hasn't happened yet. Wouldn't surprise me to see Mahrez happen because of that especially when you consider no one really has a clue where Mahrez is going, really does seem like a situation similar to Lukaku where teams are hesitant and United could be silently doing their HW behind the scenes ready swoop in and secure their target if he indeed a target.

> Roma have been willing to pay the fee for some time but it's been reported Mahrez's first choice would be to remain in England with his family.

...if it comes down to Chelsea and United for Mahrez to remain in England, I have to imagine United will pony up just as they did for Lukaku and make it happen. Don't see José allowing Chelsea to acquire such a player in his crucial 2nd season on a given team where he's expected to win the league historically. You just know he'll do anything within his means to give United the best shot at winning especially at the expense and direct loss of a rival. If somehow Chelsea nor United are interested (highly doubt it), then I can see Mahrez going to Roma being sort of a last resort from his perspective.
