Riyad Mahrez | Staying at Leicester

He's a counter attacking beast so I can't wait for us to sign him.
Just a little video+article insight on Mahrez's effectiveness on both ends of the pitch / ability to counter attack and burn oppositions on the transition. Don't get where this notion came from it's not a critical element to his game which makes him so successful but here it is anyways :) :

...have a feeling he won't be joining United unless some breaking reporting says so otherwise all of sudden. Or it's possible it's a case of Lukaku where it's just kept quiet until the very moment the move is close to being struck. Such a perfect scenario for both player and club if an agreement were to be reached. I'll definitely be one sad camper if it doesn't happen. Seems like such a logical fit for both parties.

Delusional. Wonder why a slouch like him would be linked to Barca if he's average and just a one hit wonder

You can continue to laugh but you called him a counter attacking beast which isn't true at all.

Again, keep turning a blind eye that it's indeed a critical part of his game which makes him so effective. Call it a one hit wonder or whatever all you want, doesn't take away being a great quality of his which makes him such a threat.

I dont think it'll be us but I'd be very pleased to be wrong.

He's needed to leave Leicester since the title win to make the step up. I think he's more than shown his qualities in the league and around better players it would just be more frequent. Great dribbler, quick, good quality of pass and vision... think he'd be great in front of Tony V.

I've admitted he's a good player and a good counter attacking player... I've never once suggested he wasn't good in counter attacking situations. Have you admitted that calling him a counter attacking beast was slightly over exaggerated?

Interesting that so many on here rate him so highly (that they want us to sign him).

I've rated him for a while now, think he'd be a great addition, and at a good age too.

He would improve us but with Arsenal I think he just softens the blow of losing Sanchez, they'll still struggle. VVD is probably more useful to Arsenal.

Yes I'll admit it was slightly exaggerated but doesn't take away from that element he possesses which is a major aspect of his game. You got the gist of what I was trying to say lol

:)

He would be excellent here. Not sure he's a typical "United" player but he's better than anything we have on the wing at the minute. I don't rate Rashford and Martial as wingers. And I see Mata, Mkhi and Lingard as more central players too.

Mahrez would be good for Lukaku and Ibra but I fancy him to end up at Arsenal, Chelsea or some Serie A team like Roma.

Typical or not we have no proper RWers other than Lingard who's a natural player there but obviously not starting quality.

It's a bunch of no.8s and central midfielders being forced to play he position (Mata/Mikhi) and it's easy for teams to neutralize. Mahrez would provide unpredictability and is a classic wide player with duel threat to hug the touch line or cut inside + 2 footed power. No brainer imho.

Think Mourinho wanted Perisic for the left because we have width on the right through Valencia anyway. Obviously Rashford and Martial aren't real wingers.

Martial has shown he's not a classic wide player being a finisher more than a creator (converted from ST to wing) but he's at least able to make it work on the LW and looks like he has a future there.

He's still not a real winger though. His movement off the ball isn't that good. Only comes alive when the ball is at his feet. Rashford looks more of a winger, has better movement as well.

He's definitely shown improvement on the left side and has the potential to work out there / it's a lot less of a problem compared to the right side is what I'm saying.

He's good, but I think it'll be another Depay case if he moves here - ie not big club material.

Depay was never premier league player of the year. Bad comparison.

Mourinho might want someone like Mata who is comfortable coming on the inside on that side. Otherwise he could just play Rashford on the right. I think he is fine with Valencia providing the width on the right, which is why he went after Perisic for the left hand side.

Like I said, I meant he doesn't seem like he could handle the pressure of being at a big club.

I dont think that was Depay's problem though. He isn't tearing it up in France either. He just isn't very good.

A bit more on if Barca are interested in Mahrez,

doesn't make much sense even if they change to 4-2-3-1, would mean Mahrez plays out wide while Messi plays central. You'd think they want Messi out wide and get a more suited central player such as ADM or Coutinho who they've been heavily linked to which will allow Ineista to free up more as well. Mahrez just adds to the abundance of wingers they already have.
As Messi declines he'll evolve into a central attacking midfielder which we've seen bits of already. Wouldn't be surprised if they move him there now.

The opposite is true. He thrived under that pressure when he won the league. The same could be said during Leicester's relegation fight in 2015 when took the weight of the club on his shoulders. It's only when the pressure's off that he stops being motivated.

Likely going to Arsenal.

Arsenal will not turn down 70m for Sanchez and lose him for nothing next season. So they need a replacement.

Don't think we're signing him, Mourinho wants a Wingback .

Probably Chelsea or Arsenal

Maybe no one wants to pay the asking price of 50m pounds which is surprising considering the current state of the market.
