Riyad Mahrez | Staying at Leicester

I don't think we need a lot of new personnel to get to that level.

A lot of people equate counter-attacking with being totally reactive. Ferguson's great teams were devastating on the counter, but they also knew how to seize the initiative in a match and take matters to the opposition (4-1 against Blackburn, 5-2 against Tottenham, and many others). What happens when teams decide to cede the initiative to us this coming season?

Fergie's teams had world best midfeilders defenders and attackers. There is no such quality in this team now apart from pogba. And this era islot more tougher than fergie's era.

Fergie never faced somany top managers at once in the pl , with top philosophies.

We need a back up winger, but I am not sure he is the one who can play on a Mourinho team.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Mahrez and think he would fit the 4-3-3 and when we play 4-2-3-1 quite well, but he seems a strong candidate for Mourinho to go insane over.

If this is a justification for how Mourinho is playing, then it's absolute nonsense.

Reckon he will go to arsenal to replace Sánchez.

I'd take him though.

You could have said the same about Mata and Blind.

Judging by Mourinho's comments, he was at least interested in Bernardo Silva. If that's what he's going for, Mahrez offers more or less the same things but with better end product.

I do take the point he doesn't always work hard. But I think that's as much down to his managers as anything. He has a free role in a counter-attacking team.

Back-up? We need a world class one.

Who's this world class RW that is realistically obtainable? We're not gonna get Bale or Messi are we?

The names that have been mentioned in this forum are B.Silva (gone), Mahrez, O.Dembele, Willian and Lucas Moura. Is Mahrez not in that bracket? Subject to opinion of course, but he sure is for me. Less workmanlike than Willian and Moura but with more output than any of them.

I'd have him, but not sure he's a Mourinho type player. I'm feel he would prefer the workmanlike type.

I'd take him too but we both know it's not gonna happen. No world class players are easily obtainable, but that's what we need if we want to get to where we want to be.

Mahrez Statement
Mahrez statement.

"Out of the huge admiration and respect I hold for Leicester City Football Club I wanted to be totally honest and transparent with them and have therefore informed the club that I feel now is the time for me to move on.

"I had a good discussion with the Chairman last summer and we agreed at that time that I would stay for another year in order to help the club as best as I could following the transition of winning the title and in the Champions League.

"However, I am fiercely ambitious and feel that now is the time to move on to a new experience.

"I've always enjoyed a good relationship with the Chairman and everyone at the club, and I hope I have been able to repay the faith shown to me by my performances and commitment on the pitch during my time here.

"I've had the four best seasons of my career at Leicester and have loved every moment. I feel immense pride to have been a part of what we have achieved during my time at the club, culminating in becoming Premier League Champions.

"The relationship I share with the club and our amazing fans is something I will treasure forever and I truly hope they will understand and respect my decision."

I also think he's worth a punt for United. Anyone care to guess his price, or should we just assume it's the standard 35-40 million that 7.5-8/10 players seem to go for these days?

preach
where was this "fierce ambition" when you were on the pitch this season you lazy shit? I firmly believe had Gray played every minute Mahrez played he would have made and scored more goals

He's better than he showed last season. He's two footed and can beat a man from a standing start. Nice skillful player. We could do with a proper right winger.

He would be a very good signing. I'd prefer him to all of James, Perisic and Bernardo tbh.

Rather not fork out £30m+ on someone who doesn't seem to fancy it if the going gets tough.
