Renato Sanches | Loaned to Swansea

Chelsea are similar to us, prefering more physically strong players. No surprise they are going for another midfielder, they are selling Matic

I'd trust Bayern's judgement.

There are a couple of exceptions (Hummels, Kroos) but they don't tend to sell players unless they know something is amiss.

Would be gutted to miss out on this guy a 2nd time - especially as Jose went on record to say he would have gone for him.

Really am scratching my head on what the feck we are actually doing.

I'm in the Pereira / TFM promoter camp. We don't need a Sanches. If we can't get Dier or Matic then let's use our squad depth and rotate the younger players in.

Why is this thread flying along. Only Milan are in for this lad and Bayern keep involving clubs to raise the price or create demand.

How many times does Jose have to say Holding Midfielder and Winger who gives him width, so unless he is one of them. Its not him

I can't do the math here.

Mourinho comes out and says he would've sanctioned the R Sanches move, had he been in charge when the deal was done. (That was some months ago, wasn't it?)

Bayern are open and willing to do business for the player, who is seen as a great talent and investment in him sounds like a no brainer (probably if he goes for £40m now, in 3 years it will look like a steal, the way the market keeps inflating).

1+1=2 (you would think)

But why is he not a Man Utd player?

Or could it just be that our scouting team have advised that maybe the kid isn't all that and isn't worth the investment at the moment. AC Milan are the only ones interested and are taking a massive gamble on a kid that has shows next to nothing in the last 12 months and it's only because they have money to burn. Even then, no one is even willing to buy him outright.

He said he would have bought him last summer. Since then we have signed Pogba, Herrera has cemented his place in the first XI and Pereira has had a successful loan and looks like being a part of the squad going forward.

If we sign a defensive midfielder (which I think we are still trying to do) then next season we will have a first choice midfield of Pogba/Herrera/new DM with Pereira/Fellaini/Carrick as cover. No room for Sanches.

Because he's not good.

A bigger Question is 12 months ago he was one of the hottest young talents around what happend? a year later how come nobody wants to touch him ? Is it attitude ? Is it the over inflated prices or is he just not that good or maybe its all the above.

Well the Champions of England have asked about him.

Also Bayern only want to loan now and not sell, which suggests they still think he has what it takes.

Right now Utd need a successor to Carrick. Sanches is not that. I'd like Wiegl, Jorginho or Fabinho even Matic although limited and underwhelming as he may be is more what we need. I would also like another CM but I doubt we'll get two with a winger looking like a priority.

Because as Portuguese coach he was bigging up a Portuguese player?

I'm on the side with everyone saying they don't see it with this guy. Poor man's Anderson.

How else are going to drive his price and recoup their money back?

And if any clubs want to buy him outrightly, would they not sell?

Surprise we are not after him especially after jose publicly stated his desire to sign him.

Bayern are incredible, 10 teams after him! he's a fecking great player, so great we want rid after 1 season!

10 teams after him on loan. Nowhere near that many would be after him if he was for sale for 40m or more.

Could be a lot of reason but you never should take a manager's word at its face value anyways. Mourinho is no different, they all talk a lot of shit when it suits them. Wouldn't have sold Chicha, wouldn't have sold welbeck, would have bought sanches blah blah.

To be fair its difficult to show much in 12 months if you play only 6 games

Very sensible post. I am on the side of rating Sanches highly and I would like us to sign him. I cant personally understand the this "young player of the Euros that he won, champions league player, league winner in his homeland and NINETEEN year old who has experienced a season at a tender age at one of the worlds elite clubs learning from some of the best midfielders in the world" isnt good enough?

He is full of energy, has an excellent footballing brain for his age, fills in gaps in the right places, keeps play ticking over with generally quick short passing and isnt scared to recieve the ball. I think he is most similar to Herrera in our side, I think Herrera has better technique and defensive abilities but I think Sanches is better at other aaspects. I would sign him to replace Fellaini personally to fight for Herreras role and to also allow Herrera to cover for Carricks position but I totally understand and also agree with your argument to a certain degree, I just dont see a new DM signing both attainable and actually any good.

But not to show it in 12 months of training. They've seen him far more intimately than we have and want rid.

Im out of touch on this one. Do they want rid of him or do they want to loan him out? Also does he want to leave or does he want a loan for more game time?

Im not really a fan of his but mostly find the claims some are making about his ability to be a bit daft.
However players develop at different rates and because of different factors. He might have had a tough time in Germany because he struggled settling in another culture, he may have missed family and friends, struggled with the language etc. He may have been slow in getting used to new training systems methods and ideas, he is after still only 19. So he may want to leave because he is struggling with those sorts of things or he may be frustrated at the lack of game time.

I repeat this point like third time now, perhaps the player wants a better situation to fight his way back to Portugal squad for WC & his agent wants his investment secured than free fall with how Bayern treating him. It's not simple as other put as Bayern is the only player at the table. We know who agent represent Renato & how that guy works.

Did you actually read the questions I asked?

Then read what I wrote. Clearly he wants game time. His profile is different than your regular young player especially with that kind of agent behind pulling the string. Normally Bayern may prefer a loan, but his agent may have different idea. That agent may not fancy losing special talent tag by letting him going on regular loan. A loan to big clubs would mean that club would be in a favored situation. Logically, no big club wants to hone talent for another club. Again it's logically for his agent to push for a good move for him: big club &a a chance with more game time = option to become permanent.

Perhaps we have a budget and need other types more.
