Film RedCafe's Favourite Movies Of All Time Contest (THE RESULTS)

Who is the favorite then…Alien? Seems like the best movie with broad appeal, apart from that one replicant that has never seen it.

Goodfellas is such a great film. Should defo be higher than 12th. I’m gonna go get the papers get the papers.

A kid in my school actually lived the school version of this.

He was an average kid, always wanted to be part of the "jock crew".

Then he got in, doing them small favours.

Then the favours got bigger and he integrated more into the group.

Then he started scamming them and ripping them off...

They found out and wanted to beat the shit out of him.

He became a teacher's snitch and got them all into trouble and in return, he would study in the teacher's office and be escorted home.

Why do people prefer Godfather over Goodfellas? I really can't see why. I prefer Goodfellas every day. You can just switch it on and enjoy.

They're both brilliant films but Godfather is just one iconic scene after another that still makes sense as a great, sweeping story. Not to say that Goodfellas is short of memorable scenes mind. They've both got great characters, great actors, a director in peak form etc. Goodfellas definitely feels more real and dirty, whereas Godfather feels more like a fairytale. I'd happily watch either but Godfather just edges it for me.

Yeah can't disagree with that I guess.

I wish there was a good gangster film or two these days... Instead we got The Irishman where RDN had to get stunt support to lift his leg and kick someone who was already on the floor

Yeah, it's hard to see how a modern gangster film matches up to the greats.

Maybe you could write a Goodfellas influenced film about kids at school, based on your story above. I genuinely think it could be amazing. Imagine a load of kids planning the perfect low level, low stakes heist with the Rolling Stones playing in the background

Haha yeah that could make a decent film to be fair.

I had Terminator 2 at number 2 but did consider it for number 1 as I absolutely love it.

The fact that James Cameron decided to put in the massive backstory exposition dump during one of the best car chase scenes I've ever seen... Chef's kiss!

Also, it's one of those rare films that doesn't look dated even now.

As you can tell, I absolutely adore it and it would be in my personal top 10 films of all time.

I don't like gangster films, but I've been told that South Korea "owns" the genre now. Might be worth checking out if you miss gangster films!

Yeah that's some great ones. Internal Affairs and New World instantly come to mind.

It's superb. Well worthy of a top 10 at the very least.

This is the film in the top 10 that was on the lowest amount of lists. But still placed high so it shows that those who watched it, rate it very highly.

It was very high on most lists that it appeared on.

Probably the best film ever for me. It combines great filmmaking and acting with a gripping story and an underlying message that remains highly relevant. I'd be curious to know why anyone that saw it wouldn't rate it very highly.

It's the greatest film ever made. From the unique and successful adaptation of a classic work of fiction, to the direction, cinematography, mise en scene and performances it absolutely nails everything and completely enthralls the viewer. I could watch it any day, any time. When you consider all of the shit that went wrong with the production, the fact that it even made it to the screen only adds to its lustre and exemplifies Coppola's mastery of his craft.

Still never got through it despite multiple attempts and still don't get the almost-universal love. Different strokes and all that, I guess. So I probably voted for it at some point :nervous:

Happy to see T2 in top 10. Its flawless. Plus it aged so well. You can re-watch it hundred times and it is still super enjoyable.

I didnt like Blade runner at all. Just found it so meh. I did like the sequal when it came out. Apocalypse Now is a mad film. Only watched it a few months ago. Things went a but nuts in the end. The way they went on about filming sounds like hell. T2 no objections. Fecking perfect movie.

Shame the franchise went to shits after T2
I like 3 and Salvation. Guilty pleasure movies for me. Thought it was cool seeing the world after judgement day. Though I do agree, it really went to shit with the story. The Rock would be the perfect terminator.
