That's me done with this site. A clueless gesture by Musk but not actually a Nazi salute and the ideologically bankrupt left leaning people jump on that. Central Europe is in tatters after the left. Just any opinion that isn't left isn't allowed on the aptly named RedCafe. I'm far from far-right, some of these Republican views are ludicrous but these holier than thou left virtue signalers are the worst of the lot. I will now log out for the last time.

Bye bye sweetie

It would be a shame considering twitter remains the fastest source of all types of news, including football news and that isn't going to change despite efforts to make bluesky a thing.

I don't want to get into a political debate but not embedding it on the site just makes the forum slightly less user friendly. People will still post links to breaking news on there. Only difference is you'll have to actually leave the forum in order to view it.

It's a political witch hunt fuelled by virtue signalling.

The Caf is so much more than discussing transfer rumours, but just watch the traffic on here disappear when there isn't another viable source for this information.
Well it seems that either you’re a raving republican or a fan boy of Trump and/or musk.

Who cares if that kind of traffic disappears?

Some? Which ones aren't ludicrous?

You realize Musk is one of the biggest virtue signallers in the world, right? The virtues he has recently and very publically signalled include Nazism and racism, and he's proud of this.

But you won't write a pathetic little rant about him, because deep down you approve of what he does and perhaps subconsciously you relate to his Nazi virtues.

And to think folk say Nazi is yet another word the left have semantically bleached. This place just gets worse and worse as a far left hell hole. So much for just wanting to chat about football.
Oh no I’m sorry this far left hell hole has an issue with Nazi salutes. I guess we’re just being woke again, whoopsy.

Seems I’m in the minority but I don’t think he actually meant to do a Nazi salute.
As per Trump, he is the smartest guy around. Even helped Trump rig the Pennsylvania votes. Surely someone so smart wouldn't accidentally do a Nazi salute.

I do think the guy is an unhinged cnut though, so I voted yes.

I’m also curious how the site would change if we ban twitter.

I mean it’s literally exact. It’s the exact same movement to a tee. Look at the aggression in his face too. And he does it twice. You do not ‘accidentally’ do a Nazi salute twice. It’s insane that this even has to be said.

You can, just don't post in other sections of the forum. Otherwise, you'll be exposed to a world in which people don't like that someone who constantly says and supports racists and fascists (through his posting on X) does something that looks like a fascist salute at a super visible event and doesn't even care to tell people it wasn't.

I don't know why that's supposed to be so shocking. 20 years ago, this would have ended his public career. If you think it's no big deal, I think the burden is on you to explain why - cause there are pretty strong historical reasons to think fascism isn't great.

Didn't miss the twitter account after deleting, won't miss these.

You can also ignore posters and threads. That's always a function people can use.

Sure how's another few fascists with influence and power going to affect us? It's all grand lads!
"Aren't we supposed to be living in a multicultural democracy? And isn't that the point? You know, the Jews, the Muslims and the racists all living together happily side by side, doing and saying whatever the hell they like?"

Well I guess Musk and trump haven't invaded Poland yet.

Good riddance

52% have voted for redcafe to break away from X. I think we all know by now that 52% of a vote isn't a large enough margin of victory for such a monumental decision to be taken. I foresee years of trouble & toil if the views of the 48% are ignored.
Brexit really got to you didn't it!

What????? Twitter actually has news, it's not 100 BS made up shit - are you sure?

If it happens I guess it will be seen by Niall as a small price to pay to not be associated with Musk and his cesspool.

BTW this poll won't directly decide any decision, merely help us make one.

A person named Jay Graber and the employees. It's a benefit corporation, promises no ads and the code for the software is open source.
It's also a Twitter offshoot. It was an in-house project under the old ownership that was split off at some point before Musk took over.

Sounds like someone saw which way the wind was blowing

If I'll be honest, I don't think much of a debate can be had about this here and no argument will be made which is going convince the admins not to go ahead with the proposal. As I see it, simply the fact that there is a poll already means the ban has been decided by the mods and this is just testing the waters to see how well it will be received before proceeding with it. It's sad but I guess that's the way of the Caf for a while now. Twitter is a platform which existed before Musk and it's easy to have a very sane experience there if only you follow the right people (and make use of the handy 'block' option if necessary).

Anyway, if I'm going by the OP,
Is it necessary for this site to function to have information being sourced by a Nazi run platform?
the idea is banning sourcing any information whatsoever from a platform belonging to Musk, so, just to understand, does that also mean censoring discussion/lauding of Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, xAI and anything he has founded and/or he runs or is the ban restricted to X only? One thing about boycotts is that they generally tend to have a tint of hypocrisy. Fair play if this has been properly thought through and will be carried out coherently.

I don’t agree with Trump on that and I also don’t think “smartness” has much to do with accidentally doing things.

This doesn't make any sense if you think about it.

No one is suggesting that you can't discuss Twitter/X so of course discussions about Tesla , SpaceX etc will still be allowed. Talking about themdoesn't directly benifit Musk, embedding tweets on the site does as it counts as traffic and drives people to the platform. There's a big difference.

Care to expand on that?

I bet it's going to be something along the lines of you have a phone though. The post you quoted is just full of disingenuity with a "tint" of the good old just asking questions shtick. The poster knows perfectly well a decision hasn't been made and is lying about it while playing the victim, the poster knows perfectly well that discussion about the companies they mention is obviously not going to be banned and is, like many others, purposely conflating their personal use of Twitter with the integration and overpresence of Twitter on Redcafe.

You're probably right but it's only fair to have it explained before reaching that conclusion.

Nah they're right, we are setting up a special taskforce which will hunt down every users social media presence. When we sniff that one of you is still using X despite it being banned on the caf you'll be getting canned.
