Amorim said we’ll see an idea and identity, all I
saw was exactly what it’s been under ETH, only with 3 at the back.
He's had 13 days with a lot of the squad away on international duty.

What did you expect?

An aside but how exactly does stoppage time work? Is it if city or Liverpool are losing you add more than 7, and for anybody else just wrap it up?

Quite deflated about that. Lost ground on top 4 this weekend. 6 points off and still have to go to Anfield, Emirates, Etihad, Spurs...

Amorim has a lot of work to do.

We don't have the squad for a 343.
He should adjust to a 433 with Mainoo,Mount and Ugarte in the center of the park. Bruno as a false 9 with Garnacho and Amad as inverted forwards.

No we shouldn’t he needs to get this squad playing his way or get players in.

We keep reverting then it’s just a continuous circle.

Key takeaways:

1 - Our players lack intensity in their game
2 - Our players hate to move in space
3 - Amorim needs to be very stern with underperformers
4 - Any other team wanting a win would be hammering it in past the 90th minute. We were casually passing it around Onana and De Ligt as if we're happy with the draw. That is unacceptable.

Ratings:

Onana - 9/10 MOTM for me
Dalot - 2/10 Very weak and not a single positive contrubution to the game
De Ligt - 7/10 At times I thought he was the only one out there trying in defence
Evans - 4/10 He is not for this level
Mazraoui - 6/10 had some good moments, at least he puts in effort
Casemiro - 1/10 another game where he just couldn't get arsed
Eriksen - 2/10 doesn't have the energy to play against such opponents
Amad - 7/10 He Was our best player going forward
Garnacho - 3/10 Made some good movements but ultimately failed to produce anything good
Bruno - 6/10 He needs to ask the ball more
Rashford - 2/10 Despite the goal he was abysmal and at times looks like he doesn't want to be a footballer

Zirkzee - 6.5/10
Hoijlund - 6.5/10
Shaw - 4/10
Ugarte - 6/10

Referee: 1/10, let Ipswich play wrestling and never even gave them a warning.

Ipswitch: cnuts/10, are they trying to be the new QPR?

Some of you fans expecting a turnaround straight away.

Chaps had 2 or 3 training sessions with the full squad and already negativity.
I'm sure he will know after today what's needed. He did look worried for most parts of that game so needs time to do it his way.

Same group of average players delivering the same average performance and result.

Not sure there’s a miracle formation/motivational cure that turns that group of attackers into a consistent threat.

It's frustrating to see how unathletic and lethargic our players are.

Unathletic is the word. Some of them make Ipswich guys look like Olympian all rounders.

Dalot simply must never play in that position again. Put mazraoui where diallo is and diallo where garnacho is.

Lastly eriksen and casemiro will never work again in any system under any manager. Just stop it

Boo.

Didn't even get to listen to it because i was meant to start a job at half 4. Still fecking waiting. Shit signal. Dick.

Were we any different?

Tonight’s threads on the Caf:

  • Ruud would have won that game
  • Is McKenna a better coach than Amorim?
  • We should have appointed Ruud till the end of the season at least
  • Amorims shocking change of body language over 90mins
  • How long before we give up on the back 3?

Hopefully Amorim learned you can't start 4 slower players, Casemiro, Eriksen, Evans and Bruno, in the PL and expect to be successful. I would guess he didn't want to but was forced.

Hopefully he also learned that Garnacho is not a playmaker and that Rashford rarely plays effective as striker. Amad did well as WB, but in the future I could see him being paired with Bruno. Garnacho might have to learn to play WB if he wants playing time.

So nice to see Shaw back.

So is the formation 5-2-2-1 or 3-4-2-1? I'm not sure.

Dalot is not a wing back.

Garnacho is not a 10.

Rashford is not a striker.

Pfff this was poor. Lets say new system and players back from national teams didn’t help. Hopefully it will get better in the next couple of weeks. Amorim has his hands full. I thought Rashford was poor and didn’t press with intensity. Garnacho was poor and Dalot did his best but isn’t a lwb. It got a bit better when Ugarte came on. I think Casemiro and Eriksen haven’t got the legs for this system and the intensity Amorim wants. Amad did oke on the right.

Ruud and Ole were able to get the team going instantly but all I hear is excuses here for the so called experienced managers?

If Amorim was a United legend as a player then I reckon he'd lose a decent chunk of support on here. Anyway I will support him now that he's here, even though I wanted Ruud as the manager.

It’s began already.. Christ.

Are you just going to ignore the fact the players have been asked to completely change from what they’ve been doing over the last couple of seasons? When Ruud stepped in, it was largely the same style, same formation.. just a few tweeks. Ruben has them playing an entirely different formation, different style. It’s going to take time but I’m sure you already knew that.

Even Ragnick got half an hour out of them. They reverted to type after 90 seconds here. Think we win that easily with Ruud in charge.

Still, bring on the next game. Let's see what he can do with some time

Ipswich had the better chances throughout. We looked better after the subs and Shaw in a back 3 stepping into midfield looked good.

Think with all players fit Amad needs to be in that front 3 closer to goal. Think we're more suited to a back 4 with our Full Back options, so some work to do there going forward.

I feared for this game since Ruben said he was not going to compromise with his ideas to make it easier for the players. It was always going to be a scruffy game. But it was a fair bit worse than i feared even. Yikes. Looked like last seasons EtH football until we shored up the midfield with players with legs. Ruben is not stupid, he will adjust and improve this. Another fit CB is probably high on his wishlist. De Ligt is probably the only fit cb right now that suits this system somewhat

Disappointing, but take the point, move on and let the man start building his team.

Same group of average players delivering the same average performance and result.

Agree with this. It’s about the best you could hope for with this group of players. I’m not expecting a whole lot from Amorim this season. Need to jettison some of the transfer mistakes, bring in new players, and instill a new aggression that is lacking

I guess we were hoping for better. Don't remember their keeper making many saves. A game to confirm we are a long, long way off.

Not sure I saw a single positive in that. Woeful from minute two to 94. Didn’t even look like we wanted to win in injury time.

Sitting back immediately after scoring the goal indicates that the team does not believe they can score. We need a creator in midfield and a scorer up front. Hoijlund, Zirkzee, Mason Mount and Eriksen are utterly useless and got Ten Haag fired. Hoijlund is young but not seen anything to indicate he can score 30 goals a season. The rest are flops.

I’d like to know the percentage of passes that our midfield passed the ball forward. And an actual pass not a hopeful hook round the corner.
Our lack of ability to progress play comes from those two and they were woeful today.
Hopefully Amorim sees that because it was hopeless.
Onama Motm quite clearly.

Boo.

Didn't miss much. Started relatively well, got the goal and did very little after. Bit better second half but lacked that cutting edge.

If he's going to go with a Rashford-style up top then we might as well play Garnacho through there.

Seems like we had an awful set of choices. I'd like to see him be able to play that with 3 from De Ligt, Maguire, Martinez, Yoro and Shaw and then a midfield two out of Case, Mainoo and Ugarte to build the base before making big claims about the system as a whole

We need players who can carry the ball in the middle of the pitch. All the great teams have had such players. It allows you to dictate the tempo of the game when you can trust someone to just hang onto it for a bit without looking for a forced pass

Needs to take some blame for starting Casemiro and Eriksen together

Ipswich had the midfield and that's where their goal came from.

Needs to learn quickly about his players
