PL D FA Premier League

Ipswich Town 1:1 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

We just look like we haven't the foggiest clue what to do when we're going forward. So predictable. Ipswich should have won this game.

We don't have the squad for a 343.
He should adjust to a 433 with Mainoo,Mount and Ugarte in the center of the park. Bruno as a false 9 with Garnacho and Amad as inverted forwards.

Thought Ugarte and Bruno did ok deep when we made the changes. How good was it seeing positive changes?
Amorims problem early doors is to get players fit. Shaw looked way off it. Need to get Mainoo in the side sharpish.
You could see we were trying to play ‘shorter’ but our ball retention (something Amorim has identified) is awful.

Didn't feel like the intensity was there at all apart from the first 2 minutes. Given Ipswich's chances I'd say we were lucky to come away with a draw. We've seen this from these players for a while now, they just look lethargic.

Hopefully in a month we start to see the system take shape.

I think we need top class full backs that can attack the entire game. I also think the back 3 didn't help today.

We need a good base (when Yoro, De Ligt and Martinez are fit) and the 2 full back can then be all out attack.

No because we don't have the players for this system

Play Amad closer to their goal, not as a rwb. Shaw should be a wing back not a center back. Also play ugarte and casemiro in midfield.

Hopefully this guy is not as stubborn as Erik.
Time will tell if Shaw can handle playing as a left wing back.
Doesn't seem a good idea to play a massively injury prone player in the most demanding position.

Amorim said we’ll see an idea and identity, all I
saw was exactly what it’s been under ETH, only with 3 at the back.

I don’t like a lot of our players, that said, we are playing a new formation and new tactics. It will take time. Only issue for me is that we might have the dumbest players in the league.

Amorim will have to react quickly if he wants to succeed at this club. Rashford, Shaw and Dalot will not help him turn this around.
And Antony, Zirkzee and Hoijlund are not good enough to do it.

Given up on this club until there is a mass clear out of players and I see a commitment to not compromise on technique when bringing players in. Most of our players are shit on the ball.
 One game under a new manager, is this a 'Caf record?

Pretty limp performance and pathetic result. Huge 2 points dropped, can't see us making top 4/5. Definitely improved once Shaw and Ugarte came on. I liked that Amorim at least tried a lot of things, I'm sure he's learned that Case/Eriksen doesn't work. Hojlund suits this system much more than Rashford but needs to improve massively. Dissapointed with the attitude in the last 15 minutes, I appreciate the patience but very little positivity how we moved the ball. Really needed a win here.

Onana the standout, though Amad, Bruno, Ugarte, and Shaw were pretty good too.

Rashford had everything set up for him to build a truly illustrious career and he blew it. He is finished as a top level footballer. We seriously need to be getting rid this summer.

I know footballers are no scholars but we really have the dumbest set of players in the PL. There are somethings that come naturally to footballers but it's almost like someone assembled a bunch of coal miners and taught them to play football and now they are playing for utd!

The front 4...goodness me, no wonder we can't create anything! Their decision making is so shocking I'm not sure they know they're on a football pitch.

I hope things improve but for what seems like the 10th time, these players are not going to improve unless we can get them a brain transplant!

The reluctance to pass the ball forward quickly is so frustrating to watch.

And when they do, they tend to just give the ball away, hence we go back to safety first passing.

Hi guys i am new here i started watching because of your new coach, hut i had no idea this was like this...
The amount of low quality players you have is baffling. No stamina either, lack of ball retention under pressure is honestly shocking cant make 3 passes in a row under pressure in the midfield.
Casemiro hides from the game, cant build, Erikssen has no bussiness playing in a 2 man midfield. Garnacho is honestly low iq. Also the lack of rush in the final 10 minutes is embarassing.

Unreal saves from Onana. Rashford is going to lose his place and Evans is not going to be able to cope. Eriksen is also in danger because of the lack of dynamism. It was a game which shows that the team is playing a different way, is unfamiliar and it shows.

Honestly, /I enjoyed it for the most part. Can see the how he wants us to play.

I'm glad he's got to see how inept and worrying it is that we can't bloody score goals. He's got to solve this problem and I believe he will.

We'll be fine.
Not being argumentative but what style did you see that was different, bar the formation?

Onana and Amad were really good. Lots to do to get the team were it needs to be, Rome wasn’t built in a day.

We need to move the ball much faster and there is a lack of courage in the team. Lots of faffing about around the box and not wanting to try something (Garnacho, Bruno, and Amad excluded).

Well, that went down like a wet fart.

Amorim has a lot of work to do.

Eriksen, Casemiro, Rashford all need binning off.

The rest need to pull their socks up.

Pathetic result against one of the weakest clubs in the league. Failing to take maximum points from the matches you're expected to win is going to kill us now.

I'm livid. I can't understand how they are that freaking bad.

No one is able to pass the ball. How? Dalot is one of the worst fullbacks I have ever seen and I'm not overracting here. He is insanely bad and lacks any footballing brain.
Bruno can't play a normal pass even if his life depends on it - it always has so be a flick, some hollywood pass or whatever. He simply cant do it, absolutely infuriating.
Garnacho what can you even say? Dumb as a rock, shocking descision making.
Rasmus and Zrikze are pointless players, they contribute nothing.

Our whole team is insanely unfit and slow.

Amorim should already go mental with them we are absolutely shoking. Amad is one of the few players that are somewhat ok. Onana is by far the best player this season and saved our ass once again.

Amorim has an almost impossible job with those players. Realisticly you would have to offload like 8-10 players

Have to say we looked better under Ruud. Not sure we have the players for this system. We have a collection of shite players and it's square pegs in round holes.
Most of the players we had available today cannot be here in the long term or in those positions - better to play the system for now

Hopefully in a month we start to see the system take shape.

I think we need top class full backs that can attack the entire game. I also think the back 3 didn't help today.

We need a good base (when Yoro, De Ligt and Martinez are fit) and the 2 full back can then be all out attack.
That has to be the hope.
Bed in the system and then slowly bring in the best player to fit that system in the positions the manager judges we don't have enough.

I really hate 3 at the back formations myself, but if he gets it working i'll be happy!

Amorim said it will take time, and it looked like it will take time and some new players. Liked his positive changes. He saw what was going wrong didn't wait to change it. But he can't buy new players till the summer so we'll see more games like this in the season. I'm ready for the rollercoaster ride.

There were a staggering number of bad touches and passes. It was an epidemic out there. Our recruitment over the years has been really really bad. We need more players who are comfortable on the ball before we can hope to become a good football team. The team currently cannot do anything more than counter-attacking.

Lost every 50-50
Could hardly beat the press
Ipswich easily beat our press
Rashfords body language is so annoying.
Mazraoui is wasted as a LCB.
Dalot's drop in form is alarming.
We should never start Casimero and Eriksen as the 2 CM's.
Garnacho isn't as quick as I thought he was
Amad was very good
Onana was excellent
Some of our play when we did move the ball forward quickly was nice to watch.
Bruno looked far better alongside Ugarte rather than on the right of the front 3

Wow that was abysmal. Can't read too much into it apart from the fit of some players in the roles they were asked to play.

Fair play to Ipswich though, they were really good. You can see McKenna has coached them really well.

Ruben definitely needs to be backed. Amorim looked VERY frustrated, especially in midfield. From a neutral standpoint Hutchinson looked like the best outfield player on the field today, and that just shouldn’t be the case against a team like United.

Ruud and Ole were able to get the team going instantly but all I hear is excuses here for the so called experienced managers?

If Amorim was a United legend as a player then I reckon he'd lose a decent chunk of support on here. Anyway I will support him now that he's here, even though I wanted Ruud as the manager.

Nobody plays with as little urgency in stoppage time with the game on the line than us. Amorim going mad on the sidelines telling them to launch it forwards, and we just pass it around at the back, and then it's full time.

Amad was good.

Delap is a mutant.

New manager same problems. The players are not capable of playing with any intensity. ETH, Amorim, Ferguson, you can’t make players something they’re not, and this is a squad of weak (pace, stamina, robustness, mentality) players.
Eriksen looked like a lost child, Rashford scored and then decided that was him done for the day. Dalot continued to prove to the world he’s the first professional footballer to play without a functioning brain. Garnacho is in woeful form. Casemiro is a shadow of the player people were pretending he was when he joined, let alone his former self at Real. This was the first time I thought Evans looked out of his depth. Just a horrible set of individual performances within a relatively decent structure.
We’ve seen it before, and new manager or no, we’ll see it again until some of these players either fix up or get fired off.
