Philippe Coutinho

Even if he did want to leave now, it's no different from the Keita situation. If RBL can refuse to sell Keita despite him wanting to leave, then we can do the same with Coutinho.

The most likely scenario is that Coutinho leaves next summer, if he has a good season.

Where are you reading that Coutinho has said he wants to leave this summer?

Couple of media outlets, nothing concrete but no smoke without fire I guess.

Fully understand why you would want to leave in fairness. The chance to play with Messi would be very hard to refuse.

Yeah definitely, I understand why he'd want to go there. I think he'll have to wait a year to get that though.

Trouble is Barca are unlikely to wait til next season to buy an attacking midfielder, given Iniesta's age and given who else they have in the squad. If Coutinho doesn't go there this summer, its possible the offer won't be there next season.

To the resident Liverpool fans, Why is the Redandwhitekop forum so restrictive. I mean they locked the Coutinho transfer thread simply because they don't want people speculating.

What is the point of a forum?

They've suffered enough heartbreak. They can't take it anymore.

The thread was locked because Barca bid and we said "go away he is not for sale". That's as far as it is, so anything else is pure speculation.
They will open the thread if something happens. As it is there is nothing really ongoing to discuss.

It's also common when a top player is linked with a move away for people to get a bit carried away with it all, and come to daft conclusions.

I mean there are 72 pages of discussion on it, and everything that needs to be said I assume has been, unless there are more developments.

Since when has speculation been a huge problem, if you are going down that route why not block the VVD thread? After all they said they were no longer interested?

Speculation is fine so long as it's linked to tangible news. Bumping threads in the transfer forum because someone thinks a player might be a good signing, or we should be in for them, or another club might suit them, is where the problem is. If there's a credible news source reporting on a transfer, then speculation about that transfer is perfectly fine. If there isn't a credible source, then spamming the transfer forum with gossip is frowned upon. That's really all there is to it.

Neymar isn't leaving though.
The Catalan press mentioned they're interested in Coutinho whether Neymar leaves or not so I guess he could also be deployed at the top of their midfield 3.

Barca will have to offer a world record fee for the scousers to even consider it. And even so, considering that he has a lot of time left in his contract, that Liverpool are loaded and how hard is for them to get top players, the chances that they will let him go are very very slim.

I see that Barca have briefed Sky...

According to Barcelona sources telling Sky, they are confident of a deal as they believe Liverpool would find it hard to turn down 100m Euros.

Made me chuckle. Barca think it's 2013 still, having not been involved in the market much in the past few years.

What the heck would Liverpool do with 100m Euros. Buy two good fullbacks?

He is going nowhere.

Liverpool will not sell their best player in 2017.

This.

Times have changed.

Even Barca will soon be discovering that.

You guys need to understand how Barca work. They make the player do the dirty work. Forget the fee. They wont get the player unless the player himself starts to make noise about being unhappy in England and wanting to move to Spain. Its not like Barca cant afford 70-80m. They will include installments and bonuses.

Maybe they get there player in a year or two if they really unsettle him. He has a long contract.

80m? Is that a joke?

They wouldn't sell for 150m in my opinion.

Liverpool have plenty of money. They need a star player and have it in Coutinho.

I am willing to bet any amount of money that there is NO CHANCE Coutinho leaves this summer.

Zero.

Who then determines a development is sufficient to re open the thread? There will probably be articles on that transfer on a daily. It seems like over policing for me.

Its like banning someone from opening Ronaldo transfer threads in here, it wouldn't make sense.

Again it really comes down to Coutinho. At the end of the day no club wants to have an unhappy player. They want to make the player do the work because if the player is unhappy and desperate to leave the club, then that brings down the price a bit because the club just wants to get rid of the player.

Exactly right. If Barca really wants him, they will sign him. And they will sign him this transfer window if this is when they want him.

He will be pushed out not because he's not good enough for Madrid. It'll be largely to do with politics within Madrid. Benzema is Perez's and Zidane love child and Ronaldo is Ronaldo.

Also, there is no ill feeling if Bale would rather be at Real. So would other 90% of professionals. It's just stupid way of thinking.

Bale has a contact until 2022 that's 4 and bit years. Do you think Real would offer such a lucrative contract to a player they did not want? If Real are willing to have him for another 4 years why wouldn't Man Utd?

But it's just Real being Real. They see a shiny new toy and they have to get it. Unfortunately, for Bale, it'll have to be him who suffers -through

No, it doesn't.

He has a long contract.

They will not sell.

If he is disruptive and underwhelming for a full season after being told he is staying, maybe he is sold.

But there is no way he goes this summer. No way.

It's because he is a player for them, not away from them. And they are a right dictatorship over there.

Four year contract.

Liverpool are a wealthy club.

Let's say they accepted 120m gbp for him (they wouldn't). What can they do with that to improve their team? Van Dijk is going to cost them £60m for feck sake.

Going nowhere.

He will leave this summer if he wants to go. Even liverpool won't keep a player against their will. They will suffer next season without him as not sure who they could realistically sign of sufficient quality to replace him.

It does seem that Barca will both have to break the bank and the player will have to agitate strongly for a move for anything to happen.

Suarez wanted to go to Arsenal and they made him stay. With the promise that they would allow him to go the following season if he put his head down. I imagine this goes the same way.

Nonsense. Van Dijk, Keita, Perisic, Dier, ... all have their heart set on a transfer, supposedly. Their clubs are saying no and that's it for the moment. Won't be different for Liverpool and we certainly won't cave before a replaement is found (Keita). Money is useless if the clubs of our targets don't want to sell themselves, and especially if they know we're sitting on £100m+.

Like I said in the Transfer Tweet thread, think it might end up like the Suarez agreement.

Dier has no intention to leave. Dont go by what the stupid media says. Did he come out and say himself he is willing to move to United? Didnt see Keita come out and say he wants to move to Liverpool either. Perisic is WILLING to move to United but he didnt say I only want to go there and I dont want to play for Inter anymore. There is a difference. Dont know too much about the Van Dick situation to comment.

Did Coutinho? :wenger:

I dont think you read my post. Did I say Coutinho wants to move? I said IF Barca wants Coutinho, then they are going to make him come out and say he wants a move to Spain/Barca. Thats the only way they will get him.

I think, and hope, he will join Barca.
Even more fun with so many pool fans thinking they're big enough to compare themselves with Barca.
South American players always want to go to Barca or Real.

He won't do that though is what I think, and even if he does that's not a guarantee, i.e. Suarez.

If Suarez wanted to stay at Pool, he would have. This whole leaving England cause the media was mean to him was bullshit. Barca came in, he WANTED to leave, he left. Didnt he say he wanted to move to Barca?

RAC1 claim Coutinho has spoken directly to Klopp and expressed his intentions to leave this summer for Barcelona

He wanted to leave for Arsenal, we (Gerrard apparently) convinced him to stay one more year and would allow him to leave if Barca or the likes came knocking (not Arsenal iirc). Not exactly the same but I think Coutinho goes to Barca after this season.
