Balague again seems adamant Liverpool won't sell. Still find it odd to see him taking the side/stance of the other team when Barca are involved.

Covering his bases. If Liverpool ended up not selling then 'I told you so', if they sell then 'They were firm but Barca made too good an offer, look at how big their dick yadda yadda'.

I doubt anyone of real importance confides in him.

People here seem to be underrating Coutinho. In this market, £138 million might not be great, but its justifiable.

I think Liverpool are attacking just fine without Coutihno. Their problem is in the defense. I would sell him for that ridiculous fee, it's not like all of the fans see they are doing everything to keep him. If they sold and made it plain that Coutihno left them no other choice, the fans would turn all their venom to Coutihno and not the club.

You say that, until they come up against a parked bus or a good defensive and they cant break it down. Coutinho can pull something out the bag out of nowhere. They attack well with space, but most players attack better like that period. I would sell for 140 million though. They're not winning anything with him anyway.

well in that case.

Is that secret "we are envious of Klopp's genius and disguise it as vitriol" weekly meeting still on for this Friday?

Friday and even Saturday added as I can hear. To much interest.

£138 million is a crazy amount. I can't see how it can be justifiable. He is not in that world class category, also not some big name from the marketing perspective. They will blow more than half of Neymar money and that is by some distance.

If they chased him at the beginning of the window, they could get him for £80-90 million tops with all the fuss he is making. Even in the current market.

How much do you get paid at the express?

All that article did was lift comments from here and called it journalism.

I fancy doing that if it pays well

Can tell which fans have and haven't been watching Liverpool regularly, some still make him out to be the hit and hope 1 worldie in 8 and disappear for months merchant he was a few years ago. His consistency and level has increased dramatically, he's equally as effective in the front three as Mane and Firmino and in the 8 has been nothing short of sensational . He's our best player and I say that as a huge fan of Mane and Firmino and he's equal in importance to both of them.

He's a splendid player and an absolute joy to watch. He's developed here and it's been a pleasure to witness it much like it was with Suarez, I don't blame him for wanting to leave, the window has been shambolic thus far and we have several gaping hopes in the squad and are ill equipped for the season ahead. Klopp might say he's happy but what do you expect him to do ? Call out the owners publicly? it's never been his style, he's mentioned several times that we need more dating all the way back to November and we just haven't delivered. If we had got the likes of Keita/VVD/Draxler and whoever else in and he still kicked up a strop I'd be less sympathetic. As it stands I don't blame him one bit, yes Barca might have turned his head but players aren't stupid he's seen how this summer has panned out and has witnessed similar ones for the entirety of his tenure here, he knows the monumental effort it took last season once injuries set in, relying on wonder goals and resilience whilst simultaneously being dreadful at the back.( yep that's possible) I don't think he fancies doing it all over again, we won't win a thing this year with the squad as it stands.

200mill war chest briefed to the club journos, CL footy the T.v. deal coupled with a postive net spend last year and spending very little over the past few years means the money is there for a one off splurge. It won't be every summer and we can't spend that like other clubs can but for this one we could and it was the next step and we've failed thus far. I've repeated back in June and July that I was skeptical they'd put the money down and that id wait till the summer window was closed, well clocks ticking. Barring a hectic few days we are screwed even just getting VVD in will not be enough and shouldn't be perceived as a success. We just struggle so much with getting deals over the line unless the seeking club wants to or needs to sell like Roma and even then we took our time. Absolute amateurs running the club.

I get LPool might feel they've won a moral victory with Dembele going Barca (I'm assuming Coutinho now stays) but that offer was a once off. This transfer market has been crazy because of Neymar and Barca's stupidly high offer was a product of Neymar.

Toys will be thrown out the pram once LPool fail to get top 4 :)

It really isnt though

Mental post.

We'll see. I was one of the few people on this site who actually wanted Mane. Also, I predicted Valencia would the best right back in the league last year. I also said Pogba wouldn't be as good as the caf thought he would be last year, which many would say now is correct. I also said Rojo was one of our best centre backs in his first year here when he played there.

And I'll put another prediction in this, we should have signed Salah.

I rate Coutinho and think he'd be a brilliant signing for Barcelona. I just don't see how the £140m price tag can be 'justified'. That's mental, for me.

Ok Mystic Meg, put my money where your mouth is and tell me the lotto numbers?

Because the money is mental in football. If Coutinho improves them to a considerable degree - and he certainly does as he's far better than Deulofeu - and they have the money for him, then he's worth it. The price is always going to be inflated in this market and at this time in the transfer window.

That's not a prediction...

Fair enough, I meant to say we will regret not signing Salah.

Wow, if you can do that, maybe you can also manipulate your spine so that you can bend over underneath your legs and lick your own arsehole.

Mane was always a talent, he is the one we should have signed.
As for Salah, any winger will do right about now. He isnt all that

United should employ you instead of Mourinho .

Just to point out the obvious, you can recognise hes a good player and still think a fee that makes him the second most expensive player in history by a margin of a whole Juan Mata, is vastly overpaying.

Do you see dead people?

Don't blame Liverpool for not selling Coutinho. If they cannot line up a replacement, then even their attacking depth would be stretched while in Europe, especially since they should get through their group. It is simply not worth it unless they find a suitable replacement.

They've shown that their attack can function without Coutinho, imho at that ridiculous sum they should have cashed in and fixed their CM and defence once and for all.

Glad they didn't though because taking the money they bid for VVD and Keita plus the money for Coutinho into consideration they would have £275m to throw at the problem, and even they could get it right with that sum.

It's a 5 years installment. It's not that useful then...
