You play a lot of Football Manager don't you?

Not since 09 no.

N'Zonzi has a release clause which would make him available this late in the window, and the cb's I've mentioned are clear upgrades on what they've already got.

Never seen Tah but seen plenty of German posters mention him, and with the German link from Klopp I threw his name in there. Seen enough of the others though and they would all three instantly be Liverpools best CB.

~€100m can buy you 2-3 top defensive players - yes, even this late into the window. So I completely agree with you. Unlike Dortmund who would be facing an impossible task Liverpool should have a couple of decent options to reinvest.

Yeah that was a good assessment imo, probably wouldn't buy you them all but N'Zonzi + 2/3 of those and they're set and ahead in terms of progress. That's why I hope this shit will drag till the very end of the window.

I think like Cesc are even Turan he will be a good player, who has his moments but, will never be a natural fit.

I don't think he's like Turan at all. Turan was a strange signing for them from every aspect. He doesn't Barca, and Barca doesn't fit him. The wrong player in the wrong club and a clear mismatch.

Coutinho style of play is nearer to Barca than Turan and can succeed easily there. He's enough, though, as he's not a replacement for Neymar.

That reads as Klopp wanting him gone for the good of the group

Yeah that´s what I´m thinking, too. Like I said Klopp will go through the fire for his players, but if you cross him/betray him in the manner Coutinho seemingly has, it is over. With his leaked comment: "I have had problems with the coach for six months" and the alleged personal promise made by Coutinho to stay eight weeks ago, he leaves Klopp no choice. You can say Coutinho´s tactics worked, if FSG now accept his transfer request and sell. Or it could literally be the end of his career, if the owners make an example out of him. There is no coming back from five years of inactivity at age 30.

Yeah Turan was probably too far but, I think the Cesc comparison is fair.

There is no way on earth Coutinho is going to not be playing football for the rest of his contract.

How many games has Sakho played for Liverpool since the positive doping test in April 2016? He was in the squad a grand total of ZERO times. And last I checked central defense is not exactly an area of strength at Liverpool.

Klopp is basically leaving the decision to sell to the owners, but making it clear that he will not be working with Coutinho again. I think Klopp took the latest comments really personally. Will the owners fire Klopp for Coutinho? NO. Will they sit out Coutinho for the remainder of his contract. Highly unlikely, but in play. So yes, they´ll sell. Also seems Dembele got an earful from his mother and is now leaning towards staying, so it seems a breakthrough has been made on the Coutinho front.

I´d try

€75M Lemar
€50M Boateng (see how Bayern really feel)
€30M Toljan (probably wait till after the CL matches against Hoffenheim )
€30M Christensen (when VVD is off to Chelsea)

Sakho went to palace on loan and is in talks to move there permanently. People are talking as if Coutinho is just going to be happy to rot in the reserves for the next five years. He won't allow that to happen and if the owners have any sense neither will they.

He's right about N'Zonzi though. An excellent player who'd fit right in there and is exactly what they need. I actually think they need two CMs, a defensive one and a metronome type of the ilk of Verratti. Wijnaldum isn't good enough.

I disagree on Koulibaly though. Not good enough to be a ball playing CB in the exposed Klopp system.

Sakho would have fetched 30M euros, and that's a best case scenario. Coutinho might go for five times that. There is no way to compare those two cases.

Who cares what Coutinho is happy about? He has five years left on his contract. If Liverpool pay his wages and allow him to train in a professional manner, they are not obligated to do anything else.

Like I said Liverpool´s owners will ultimately take the money, and give Klopp even more funds to strengthen the team.

I´m just saying Klopp would be capable of freezing out Coutinho. Of course he doesn´t have to send Coutinho 200k per week for virtually nothing, so it´s easy to do for him.

You're actually agreeing with me that he won't be frozen out for the rest of his contract.

Yes. But it´s still risky to cross a powerful coach like that, cause if the owners decide to make an example out of you, you are pretty much screwed. The majority owner of the FSG group is believed to have a net-worth of 2.3 billion dollars. He´s not losing sleep over 10M a year. So if he was a petty mofo, he could basically end Coutinho´s professional career.

hearing rumours it's a done deal apparently. Announcement tomorrow, of course could just be the usual Barca bullshit. Rumoured fee is 120mill.

Love what's unfolded between PSG-Barca-Liverpool- Liverpool try their usual dirty bag of tricks with VVD, get rejected, Barca do a Barca and unsettle Coutinho, but lose Neymar completely against their own will. They should end up with Coutinho who's not half of the player Neymar is and Liverpool will be left with nobody.

Too glorious.

Neymar to PSG = 196 Million
Coutinho to Barca = 90 Million
Liverpool getting buggered = Absolutely priceless.....haha :)

Just when you think you've seen the most deluded of Liverpool fans;

1. Someone wants to make coutinho captain

2. Someone else wants £100million PLUS rakitic

:nervous:

I'd argue rakitic is the better player

That's simply not true.

People like that are billionaires because they don't throw away money over silly emotions.

It's not a risk for Coutinho because your scenario has little chance of happening. They will just sell and keep a massive fee.

Thanks for the link. When I had searched, I had found an article which mentioned his old salary.

He signed a new contract a few months ago which makes him their most payed player.

Thanks for the info.

I was under the impression that he is not being paid as much as what other clubs pay their top players. So, Liverpool have done whatever they could to retain Coutinho. They have spoken highly of him and have also made him their highest earner. Guess it all depends on Coutinho now.

Barcelona will have to overpay for Coutinho to get him. 120m would do the job. He's a very good player but I'm not sure he'd be a success at Barcelona. The problem for Liverpool is that they won't have enough time to replace him and that they themselves will have to overpay for the replacement.

I think 150.

FSG were always going to sell. They don't have the financial might some think and need the money from the sale. They also are in to position to let their most valuable asset rot whilst paying his lucrative wages.

You're living a fantasy.

When did that ever happen for several years?

If he goes for £150m then the only club getting screwed is Barca. Replacing Neymar for Coutinho + £50m is appalling. I'm not sure he would even be a nailed on starter.

Liverpool want to hijack Sigardson's move to Everton and throw the £45-50m at them, that they want.

Klopp has already made excellent use of the alleged 200m warchest he was given. Love to see what he does with an extra 90m in the next 18 days...

It's never happened - just idle threats from emotional people. I remember a few chairman throwing their toys out and threatening this in the 90's, and of course it didn't happen and there was an agreement to sell the player.

As good as Coutinho is, from Neymar to Coutinho, is a huge downgrade......

Plus, the transfer fee.......I would say Neymar @ 222M is kinda "fairly" priced/not-so-inflated, I think Barca could have sold him for 250-300M if not for the buyout clause.

Coutinho's fee will definitely be inflated (if compared to Neymar's)

Barca has a bad window this season lol
