That's his problem. It's now or never.....he might be told to be patient by LFC, give another year and then he can go, etc etc, but do you think Barca will be patient? Is that a risk he is prepared to take, that they will still be interested in him in a year's time? If you were in his shoes, would you grab the opportunity now or risk it that the opportunity would still be there next year?
Yeah fair point. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out and what he does if our stance remains the same.

This is karma for VVD isn't it?

there is absolutely no comparison between the clubs , one is a museum or is that a mausoleum, the other is the richest club in the world which within a few years will be sold to some billion billionaire who will make PSG spending look like a day trip to the pound shop.

Bill Gates will buy United for 2bn euros, and will then make Microsoft sponsor United for a 2bn euros a year contract. Faces with Miktharyan, Pogba and Lukaku will appear every time someone logs into Windows. And every time there's a Windows Update going on, the latest results from United games will be shown to everybody. The best results first, then the good results, and down on the bottom, the stuff that nobody reads, will be defeats to Watford and such.

Every time United win the CL, Office 365 subscription will be free for a whole year.

I want to laugh, but it won't be long till this happens to us if we don't start performing.

Although how many players do we actually have that Barca or Real would even want?

You have a right to be concerned, although even if it happens to us we can still take the opportunity to laugh at Liverpool. That's the nature of football.

However we are in a much better position than them. I agree we need to show progress though to keep the likes of Pogba happy. In a recent Youtube video he was talking about how happy he is to back in the CL, and he was talking to his Juventus mates (finalists) about it. There cannot be any question that now we have built ourselves a platform from last season that we now need to build on it. An even bigger difference between us and LFC is the wages we're prepared to give, compared to what they are. We can compensate for our lack of success (relative to Barca/RM) by attractive financial packages. LFC offer neither currently.

Sadly, the team will have more patches than a metal fan's denim jacket.

"Jurgen, that's supposed to be two good attackers on a good defense. Not the other way round."

Don't ask me about whether it is karma, as I might say something friendly ;) Still in faux-outrage mode with LFC supporters. But I suppose what goes around comes around, although the behaviour of Coutinho and his agent have been somewhat better than VVD. As soon as Barca came knocking, there was an inevitability in how things have played out. From Klopp saying not for sale, to FSG saying it, to the transfer request.

As a football supporter (the game rather than the money/business side of it) I am bored of the players stamping their feet and expecting to get their way. They make commitments and they should expect to be held to them.

How can you not? We. Don't. Need. The. Money. Why would we weaken ourselves when the season is already started, knowing we probably can't even find a proper replacement for him?

Player power my friend. He wants to go. He'll go.

Will Liverpool turn 120mil down knowing he wants to leave, longer it drags the worse his performances will become

Best scenario for you lot is he stays this year and goes next. But wake up, he's going

Balague is a dope but there than a grain of truth to what he suggests if Coutinho is indeed now going to be aggressive in wanting his move. How long will Liverpool be content to let the player sit out, possibly drop points and even get eliminated from CL qualification?

All depends on how Liverpool perform I guess in his absence

this makes me think he's seen how this summer has gone in addition to previous summer's and he's decided we've shown a lack of ambition and he wants the move now. Had we signed VVD and Keita he might still have wanted a move who knows, but the absolutely farcical nature of this window has probably made the decision a lot easier for him .

8 weeks is a lot of time. Things change in a day or two. 8 weeks is like forever.

Yep. Barca never thought they'd be losing neymar and have couple of mills to spend to reinforce with all their debts and whatnot 8 weeks ago either.

Neymar move was always going to cause a chain reaction of transfers

Players do that all the time. One minute they're happy then another club turns their head and they want out. Torres made comments about being happy a few weeks before Chelsea came in for him.

Virgil van Dijk is another. One minute he was happy, then next minute some shithouse club from the north west tapped him up and he wanted to leave.

I'm waiting for John Aldridge to announce to the media that Coutinho should agitate and go on strike to force the transfer.

Karma, yes indeed..! :)

Agreed, seems the disappointing transfer window by Liverpool could have changed his mind.

Lmao, full blown fallout! You go Phil! Make sure you sour that environment before you leave.

I feel the stance change for Coutinho is due to the transfer of Neymar. Now he knows that can be a starter on the left wing since Neymar has left.

All this is absolutely perfect timing if you're not a Liverpool fan. This will be a massive distraction while they try and get off to a good start with Lallana out as well. Not to mention the tricky CL tie coming up on Tuesday... Lovely stuff.

That was clear as day since Neymar left to PSG. But Barca were linked with Coutinho before that.

This is now becoming a very aggressive process from Barca. That Klopp/Coutinho story is almost certainly an exaggeration or simply false. At the very least it doesn't add up. Coutinho signed a new contract that only came into effect in July. And the line about not happy about his position. Eh? Klopp has literally built a team around him. He's moved him into midfield.

It's simply part of the 'dance' but to create this divisive narrative appears transparent.

It's not certain how this story ends, but I actually see this causing FSG to remain steadfast rather than fold.

He'll stay this season and leave the next, like most of us sensible, handsome people have already said. FSG have made their bed, they can't go back on their statement now.

They can always say Coutinho's nasty behaviour made them rethink matters.

fsg like all Americans will fold if you dangle enough cash

Things have changed since that statement though to be fair, hard to see him playing for them again unless he backtracks massively.
