Philippe Coutinho

Eriksen is a good shout. I think he's the better player. Although dealing with Spurs wouldn't be any easier...

Isn't Spurs taking heat at the moment for not improving their team this summer? They will hold on to Eriksen for sure.

What's the point in keeping a player that doesn't want to be there? They usually end up playing like they can't bothered.
Suarez has his best ever season in England after Liverpool decided to not sell him. Liverpool should keep Coutinho and refuse Barca's offer.

Like Suarez did in 13/14? It's the season before the World Cup and Coutinho is a Brazilian who's instrumental to his country for now, he's really not going to shoot himself in the foot with this if he's still at Liverpool come September.

Liverpool handled this stupidly.

Coutinho was always going to force the issue.

Why would he want to play for Liverpool when he has the chance to play for Barca?

The offer they got was more than fair as well.
They handled it perfectly well. He is on a lengthy contract, and with the crazy amount of money going, they cannot adequately replace him for the money they'll get from Barca.

Why should Liverpool be interested on selling him for a 'fair' price at a time when every player costs double its worth?! Keep him or ask Barca for Neymar's type of money.

'Barcelona best not make any more bids... they will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen, la.'

Tbh, Coutinho will be fine. But Liverpool has to understand him for wanting to move too.

Who would you like to see the club sign? Eriksen?

I am fine with Dembélé & Seri, for now. Dump the deadweight in Arda, Vermaelen, Douglas & Alcacer and bide their time to find a left sided midfielder to groom behind Iniesta - Aleñá, Samper, Denis, Gomes & Rafinha give Valverde plenty of depth for now

True. One top money signing, and one more affordable but still good transfer in Seri. And Seri could play on more than one position. We can go for Coutinho next summer if the opportunity is still there.

If I was Pool, get top dollar and go all fecking out for Erikssen (or if you can turn his head, Alli).
Splash all of it (huge wages, sign on bonus etc) on either.

There's plenty of other examples of players who haven't given it their all after being told they can't leave. Mahrez last season for example. I forgot about the World Cup though, you're right. It does make Liverpool's position very strong.

How can you not? We. Don't. Need. The. Money. Why would we weaken ourselves when the season is already started, knowing we probably can't even find a proper replacement for him?
TBF though, ~£100m is a lot of money not to "need" - that would make him the second most expensive player ever (as things stand) which for a player who has achieved nothing of note in his career is very generous to say the least. Even United would consider selling at that price, and we're in much less need of money than you lot.

Of course Liverpool are fully entitled to say to no, but from the player's perspective they have been given a brilliant offer that is much more than fair; you can understand if he's frustrated by their decision to turn it down.

This is a win\win.

If Coutinho goes they've lost their best player, if he stays it will be against his will and he might become unsettled.

Beckham, Van Nistelrooij, Heinze, Ronaldo, almost De Gea...

Your point is fair but at least in all of those cases, United went on to win the title after letting them go. Liverpool can't afford to let their best players go.

This is key. If you did sell him you would be quoted ridiculous sums for lesser players. Unless the owners just want the money it doesnt make sense to sell.

It isn't fair at all. Liverpool wanted to keep all three. We would have preferred to keep Ronaldo.

This might actually work. The I-don't-get-paid-enough bug is probably spreading in the Spurs camp.

He's nowhere near as good as Suarez was and worth about £60-70m tops. He's not replaceable this late in the window, but he's a much more replaceable player than Suarez. If this was four months ago I'd be biting Barcas hand off at that offer.
And replacing Coutinho with who?

Interesting to see if Klopp does a Van Gaal (like with De Gea) and leaves Coutinho out until he sorts his head out (assuming Liverpool are adamant about not selling him this window).

Liverpool fan's are like comical ali telling the world there is nothing to see here while the bombs are raining down on Baghdad in the background

Liverpool fans will be hoping that Barcelona brought their fax machine from the same shop that Real Madrid brought theirs

I'd take him to Barcelona myself if it was a guarantee we'd sign Dele Alli afterwards. Sadly, that's not going to happen.

I definitely do, yeah. I wouldn't begrudge him his dream move either but the timing is just very unfortunate, and that's only because Barcelona was stupid enough to be caught off guard re Neymar.

This lad really wants out of Liverpool.

He has tried to be amicable. Now it's obvious he brother or dad has contacted Sky Sports to get them reporting he wants out.

This won't end well for Liverpool. Could get messy.

Whilst I think coutinho is a significantly more talented player, mane is the most important player on that team.
