Philippe Coutinho

Klopp has made 2 things clear:

1. Liverpool are not a selling club, and won't consider selling Coutinho

2. He doesn't want players who are not 100% committed to the club.

Bit of a "catch 22" this one

So what if he hands in a transfer request ? 5 years left on his contract. No chance he sulks for a year in the hope of forcing the move given he needs to perform to make the Brazil team.

Isn't he a key component of the current Brazil side? If he performs well in friendlies and training meet ups then he'll be selected. Remember Sven Gorman Erikson took theo Walcott to a World Cup based on almost no professional experience.

Well what did you really think was gonna happen?
"Sky Sources" are hardly reliable these days. I knew he wanted to leave of course, but I'm still not sure he will. We'd look pretty stupid for doing so after the press release this morning ("not the first time" or "when haven't you" comment incoming).

He will probably stay for a year and then go, just like suarez. Good to see him unsettled in the meantime

Barca have definitely told Coutinho its now or never.

Don't blame him in that case.

You mean there's a better way?!

I think FSG have done well to force Coutinho to hand in a request. They can now sell him and look justified to both Klopp and the fans.

I expect this to get resolved by the player moving in the next week.

I was only being half serious of course. However, 2 players in 7 years (Coutinho leaving is still a big if at the moment) isn't really that much imo, especially if you consider Barcelona's appeal to South American players. They are a bigger and more succesful club than Liverpool, there's no point discussing that. I guess there are several big clubs in Europe who've seen 2 or 3 players leave for Barcelona in those seven years.

Ignore the attempts to point score.

I'm would be delighted to see Coutinho leave, but I won't gloat too much as I know this could easily happen to Utd. Especially with PsG showing huge ambition to get to the top.

"He's not going" "He loves the club" "W-we got Klopp!!!!" , deluded scumbags. if this is true it would be the best thing that happens all transfer window. Given the parallels to the VVD situation and their fans hypocrisy regarding both this is incredible. They think they are gods gift to football and are blind to fact they're a selling club, hopefully Coutinho goes and this teaches them their place....

If you believe Coutinho is happy and wants to stay at the club you're living on another planet.

The media are being briefed. It's obvious all is far from well and the player wants out. There's also a mysterious back injury and he's not playing against Watford.
I'm not making any comment about his happiness. Im sure he wants to play for Barca. Im just commenting on the sub-politics that characterise these stories.

Inflation means you are getting less in the long run. Money now is worth more than the same amount of money in the future.

What footballers should do is really start taking investing seriously. A few have but you should be seeing a lot more high end businesses around the UK and Europe owned by footballers.

Aye, far too few invest wisely. I remember Ashley ward (mediocre Sheffield united legend) got big into real estate and has made tens of millions as a businessman. Think Robbie fowler did similar.

Exactly, FSG had to make him hand in a transfer request or else the scouse would be out in force with their pitchforks.

They will sell eventually, no doubt about that.

For whom? Martial rashford? Lingard? Mkh? Mata? Carrick or fellani?

Pogba?

But if he remains at Liverpool he will commit to playing well in a World Cup year, no?

Well he wasn't really as nice as I thought he was.:lol:

Coutinho leaving means Liverpool season is officially fecked up.

Between you and I, I think FSG will be delighted and need the cash.

I have been skeptical about the war chest given they have signed Robertson and Solanke so a cash injection will do the owners the world of good.

Fully expect Liverpool to spend some of it (not all) on a Sigurdson/Mahrez style replacement

I've never seen a press corp like the scouse lot be so quick to jump on rumours like this.
Its ridiculous.
Every other tweet is "Just a reminder..."

Liverpool are obviously going to deny any allegations of a transfer request considering they released an official statement just this morning saying he's not for sale.

This whole situation makes them look incompetent to say the least. They're trying to save face, or rather clean the egg on their face.

I thought there was a team specific thread for trolling. Some of the posts here are just idiotic.

They said from day one that he is not for sale and that position has not changed since. What exactly would be a competent way to handle it?:rolleyes:

Why sign a 5 year contract in Jan. Liverpool can actually fleece 150 m gbp .

I love that coutinho and danny rose are starting all their shit the day before the new season and fecki g their clubs over
Sanchez should've waited til the end of the summer to kick up a fuss at arsenal.

I did think the thread closure based on Liverpool's 'not for sale' insistence was a tad premature :). Changes everything, obviously. Liverpool now have 20 days to hold on for dear life, and even if they do consider the fact they're facing a season with their best player sulking (which will only get worse if they leave the CL at qualifying). Great news for the other top clubs in the PL.
