Philippe Coutinho

Terrible offer tbh when you consider the current market prices. A base 85m euro is never going to make it.

I think he'll still. The boy won't make a transfer request most probably so the whole control of the situation is in Liverpool's hands who clearly aren't in need of money to sell their best player.

Barcelona are wasting their time.

The trouble is that Liverpool know Barca are loaded now, so can technically ask for as much as they want. I think Barca will be taken to the cleaners even if Coutinho makes a fuss.
yes. The knock on effect though if they do rinse Barca for a silly fee, clubs know Liverpool have all that dough when selling their player to them

I find it strange how people on here call him overrated and inconsistent, but still get so excited on the prospect of him leaving that they start believing random Spanish ITKs.

Seems fairly certain that we won't sell. Good.

Although it's pretty satisfying how much PSG have fecked over Barcelona. They've unexpectedly lost a huge player, with no contingency plan and clubs completely unwilling to sell due to the season beginning in every one of Europe's top leagues. Let them squirm.

This will be a nice read once Pool sell and it's them in the situation.

Hell hand in a transfer request if he has to.

Let's be honest, what can Liverpool offer him that Barca can't?

Well United held onto De Gea when Real came knocking. Missed out on 2/3 CL medals. But De Gea is still at United. It can be done.

I don't think he's that kind of person tbh.

Would show a massive lack of ambition then.

Go be the main man in a Barcelona midfield and get to play with arguably the best player of all time in one of the top 3 teams in the world, or play for a side that's not done anything in years and are miles away from Barcelonas level.

Watching how Madrid schooled us last night, the Spanish two are just miles ahead of anyone in England.

De Gea is here because he's the highest paid keeper in the world, and would of left if Madrid hadn't made a mess out of the situation with a fax machine.

I couldn't blame him if he wanted to leave.

Have you witnessed RAWK in full meltdown? It's a sight to behold.

We don't rate Coutinho like they do on there. He's the next Zidane at RAWK.

I have no doubt he'll want to move, but at the same time he looks like a nice boy. I don't think he's the kind of player that will force his team to sell him. He'll probably let the control of situation to Liverpool whose situation is clear hence I don't think this transfer will be done.

We were 6th in England last season and in Europa League, lets not base the EPL. City Chelsea and even Spurs on their day can give Barcelona and Real a run for their money.

Your fans will be burning his shirt soon enough dont you worry.
If he doesn't move, he is seriously lacking ambition. Enjoys being a big player in a small pond.

Err.. what ?

I'm a United fan. Wrong number here.

Spurs give Madrid and Barca a run for their money? Surely your joking.

Great negotiating by Barcelona. They know Coutinho's head is turned. They know Liverpool will reject the offer. They know/anticipate Coutinho will get even more unsettled now as a result of the rejected bid and his intervention will be the one which eventually gets this over the line.

Barcelona negotiating tactics 101. Has it ever failed them? I don't recall too many examples.

Chased Veratti and Bellerin, failed miserably... Didn't expect Neymar going so when they saw it instead of trying to make the deal without anyone knowing it and secure replacement they decided to put it in the air and form some kind of PSG anti-coalition bs.

Now, as everyone knows they are loaded and if somehow Liverpool accepts their bid it will be in the region of more than £100 million making Philippe Coutinho second most expensive player in world football history.

Brilliant tactic all along.

Haven't Liverpool already said he's not for sale, it's not about the money? Only way Coutinho gets this move is if he pushes hard for it himself - going public on it, refusing to play, etc but I don't get the impression he wants to do the "dirty work" required.

Some very false bravado from Liverpool fans here.

It's almost like they haven't watched every top player they've had force a move from the club over the last 15 years.

But but he's different. He said something about a statue and the fans.

Think Liverpool will emerge stronger from this. They can buy 2 fantastic new players with £100m, which I reckon is what they will get.

Don't think they would so late in the transfer window.

They would get in the exact same position in which Barcelona is now with everyone aware they are desperate and loaded.

Can they?

Decidedly average players are going for £20 million plus, decent enough squad options for top sides are going for £30-40 million, and unspectacular first teamers for £40-50 million. Coutinho's a key player for them. Who are they getting in to fill that gap for £50 million, when they're selling him for more than twice that?

PSG fire sale will have a few bargains

Impossible. Andre Gray who scored 9 goals in all of last season has moved for almost £20 mill today, £100 million simply will not help us replace Coutinho. We'd probably get quoted £50 million if we tried to replace him with someone like Lanzini. Just hold on to him and if he sulks, he sulks it won't be for long.

Where are you reading this? The general consensus I've seen is that we can all accept that he wants to go to Barcelona, but he won't force it and we won't sell.

Once the window closes and he's still a Liverpool player, his agent will do the smart thing and tell Coutinho to get on with it.

If he has a good season he'll be a Barcelona player next summer.

No matter the fee, Liverpool won't be able to find a replacement as good. Because anybody that good will have offers from more desirable clubs than Liverpool. That's the reality.

If they sell him, it'll be to buy cheaper developmental players that could come good. But their team will be worse in the short run. And this is a big year for the club, a big test for the Klopp project and big competition to stay in the Champions League.

Barcelona will have to offer a truly stupid fee to get it done.

Everywhere.

The consensus is that it's in the bag, and he's definitely not leaving, and how could anyone have thought he would in the first place.

This solely based on some classic selling club press briefing, which has never been a good indicator of actual outcome in any previous transfer saga involving sales at Liverpool.

I have no idea if Coutinho will leave, but if I was a Liverpool fan there's not a cat's chance in hell I'd be thinking this one was done. But then I'd likely have been paying attention to what happens at my club and can see an obvious trend built up over 15 years.

I was initially quite concerned we'd take the money, however we've been pretty adamant thus far.

When Torres, Sterling, Suarez were sold there was nearly no information from inside the club. There was no denying or confirming rumours of a sale. The only other time we've displayed a hard line approach like this has been when Arsenal were in for Suarez.

FSG proved then that they could be resilient, and seem to be replicating that this time around.

Though had an approach been made by Barca earlier in the summer - with apt time to find a replacement, we'd have plausibly been more receptive to a sale.

I'm only basing my assumption on the fact that there's less than a month to go in the window, and that we've rejected two bids already with the club adamant that he's not for sale. It's no different from RBL's stance with Keita.

I'm sure Coutinho wants to go, why wouldn't he?
