Think Barca will use the money they get for Neymar on Coutinho and Dembele (Dortmund one).

Dembele - Suarez - Messi
Coutinho - Rakitic
Busquets

Quality side.

Midfield is still nothing special and would be in trouble against the biggest clubs in the CL.

Disagree, Coutinho-Rakitic-Busquets is a very good midfield. Rakitic seems to be underrated on the Caf in general.

He's talented, but he wasn't very good last year. Got benched repeatedly. Looked indecisive.

Rakitic has been poor the past 2 seasons and has been terrible in their CL losses.

Should be displaced imo.

Didnt Klopp say that Coutinho wasnt going anywhere plus they already rejected a £80m offer for him?
Even if Barca come back with a £100m offer, it isnt worth it for Liverpool to sell Coutinho in this market.

This is a complete overreaction.

Rakitić has been fine. He regularly chips in with important goals and provides a decent amount of assists, plus covers a large amount of ground.

Very underrated indeed.

He used to cover a large amount of ground, but he's waned in this area too.

I'd displace him personally.

Ive heard a whisper Barca will bid GBP 135m for him.

Crazy if it turns out to be true.

I don't think Barca can get coutinho. Signed a new contract recently an he ain't the one to go on a strike or something , he would actually prefer to stay as they have a project under klopp.

Not saying he doesn't like Klopp, or he wants to move, but this idea that there is some kind of project going on at Liverpool is laughable.

Means absolutely nothing in football these days. Neymar signed a five year deal with Barcelona back in October.

It's not laughable, defense is their problem which could be improved a tad but as a unit they are decent team.

Yes , but it does mean the seller can dig their teeth in and have some leverage in negotiations.

Hahaha kidding me for sure? Coutinho is in top 3-4 players in the PL, Nani never was.
That's not true, De Gea, Curtois, Hazard, Sanchez are all better at their retrospective positions than Coutinho is at his, there are good 10 others too like Kane, Aguero, Kante etc

As far as attacking midfielders go, he isn't even top 3 in the PL

Indeed, unless the project is to loose finals and play fancy football but finish 4th

There's no project going on at Liverpool

Top 3-4 ? The feck he is.

Coutinho hasn't even outperformed Nanis best season at United (2010/2011).

Not that it much of a surprise, Liverpool supporters were keen to inform us how much better players Pongolle and Le Tallec were compared to "one trick pony" Ronaldo

Barca only have around 11 days to get him.

If he plays in the Cl qualifier he is cup tied?

Just can't see Liverpool selling him and risking an early CL exit.

Depends what you mean by project. I think of a project as a club who for example has decided to build there team around a) only buying British players, b) spotting young talent and promoting talent, etc. Or for example where there is some kind of long term plan with a vision to move the club forward, maybe for example even City when the Arab funding came in, the first stars into that team were coming knowing they were playing alongside a bunch of crap, in a crap setup. That is not Liverpool in any context. I can't think of a club right now that does count as that, esp not in a top league but others can prove me wrong.

That's nothing to do with the quality of there team.

Qualifiers don't cup tie you. Only a group stage game does.

I think you get cup tied if you have made it to the group stages only. Mind, I might be talking straight up from my arse.

This actually happened

Seems he wouldn't be.

42.07 As a rule, a player may not play in a UEFA club competition (i.e. UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, but not UEFA Super Cup) for more than one club in the course of the same season. Exceptionally, however, a player who has been fielded in the first, second, third qualifying round or the play-offs of the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League is entitled to play in the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League for another club as from the group stage. Moreover, as from the start of the round of 16, a player can be registered in accordance with Paragraph 44.01 to Paragraph 44.04. A substitute player who has not been fielded is entitled to play for another club competing in the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League in the course of the same season, provided that he is registered with the UEFA administration in accordance with the present regulations.

It's not about the money I just can't see Liverpool selling* - they can't replace him with similar quality and, to be honest, I wouldn't rule out Klopp's walking if they sold him after he's made it clear he's going nowhere.

*Unless Coutinho himself throws his toys out of the pray and, ironically, does a VVD, refuses to train / play which I can't see - he seems "too nice", probably to his detriment in this case.

Was there anything to the rumor of Neymar being entitled to a 25m loyalty bonus for staying until August 2017? Seems bizarre if he only signed a new contract last autumn.

Seems a logical purchase to me. Barca may not be more than a club, but it's impossible to deny it has a greater pull today than Liverpool - particularly for South Americans.

To be honest, LFC don't desperately need him either. They have enough players of that type, and could quite quickly you'd imagine turn Coutinho into VVD + AN Other full back/DMF which would greatly improve the overall first XI.

If Barca are truly interested in Coutinho I honestly don't see what would stop them from signing him. FSG and their money-ball scheme will be seeing dollar signs here for sure. Profit alone they would make would probably be equivalent to winning the CL.

How much did Liverpool spunk on Countinho in the first place?

if barca offer 100m+ i can see him being sold, but it would be a bad idea on so many levels

£135m would be a ridiculous fee and waste of Neymar money.

I think Coutinho is Liverpool's best player but if I'd rather Liverpool keep Coutinho or have an extra £100m to spend, I'd definitely go for the former. Coutinho is good but he's not that good. With that money, Liverpool could improve their team massively. (Alternatively, they could spend £85m on Gayle.)
