OT EVACUATED | Device signed as having been recovered, could NOT be detected by sniffer dogs

This is so fecked up, a fecking bomb inside a football ground. Amazing that some cnuts are joking about it in the thread btw, would have definitely been acting the same way if someone from the family was at the game.

Stop being so over sensitive. We see people joke about ebola/aids/rape all the time. No one cares to think about "the family" then. If you feel disheartened by the comments then you may not read them but you don't have any right to call any of us cnuts for something that has caused NO injuries or causalities.

I don't understand why even now there's people reporting from inside the stadium. Surely they'd want everyone out if there was a genuine safety threat? I'd want to get the feck out.
Like another poster said. They'd focus on evacuating those closest as soon as possible rather than divide their attention across another 38,000 people who would be some distance from a potential explosion.

Credit to the security services and everybody who was involved in getting (parts of) OT evacuated safely. I hope nobody got hurt.

"The last time a game as Old Trafford was abandoned - I think - was the pre-season friendly against Urawa Red Diamonds in 2004. That time, the cause a storm" - Guardian live feed.

I don't understand why it has to be abandoned. Why can't they just play later tonight if/when the situation is dealt with?

Sucks for the Bournemouth fans.

Sunday services on the trains perhaps? If the game was played under the floodlights only people from Greater Manchester would be getting home tonight.

There's also the possibility that this is a major incident unfolding, and the authorities can't ensure the ground is safe.

You can't mess with people's security. Imagine someone had called in a threat to Brussels airport half an hour before the crazies got in, and instead of evacuating the airport was like 'nah it'll be cool, let's just see what happens'. GMP clearly have reason to believe this needs to happen. I respect the call they've made.

I meant more the press, players and staff.

Huddersfield v Leeds was postponed last day last season and it was called as a 0-0 draw in the end. Can see the same thing happen here if it means nothing for the top 4?

If it effects Europa qualifercation they will replay. I'd rather not play in the competition but the league will want the game played.

Game will definitely have to be played, as it has implications for Europa League qualification as well as top 4 does it not? If we lost and both Southampton and West Ham won we'd miss out completely.

I hope everything's ok and it's just precaution. It's just football, safety comes first

They must have found something credible. The main thing is not to create a panic, which will lead to a stampede. Safety first. The police made the right decision.

Club haven't said anything of the sort and apparently nothings been announced in the stadium. Hardly seems concrete.

BBC have reported it has been announced in the stadium and another stand is now being evacuated.

Is it too soon for an LVG bombing at Old Trafford gag?

May as well sack LVG once City win now and we can't get 4th, get a feel good feeling going into the cup final.

Unfortunately not.
The main problem is the TV schedules.
Had the match been delayed for upto 1 hour, the TV broadcasters would've adjusted their schedules, but to replay it hours later...not going to happen.
Most likely it will be rescheduled for mid-week, which in turn will allow the TV broadcasters to properly insert the game into the schedule.
If it's scheduled mid week, we should play the entire u21 squad. FA Cup is priority.

Yep, even individual positions can determine the stage you start at etc I think. It's definitely going to be played at some point.

If it truly is a bomb or such (bear in mind that cancelling the game surely means that there is a high chance that this is the case, but not 100%), they will have to search EVERYWHERE to make sure there are no more.

You need to change who you speak to then. None of that is funny and it doesn't justify making a joke about another unfunny subject matter.

And you need to stop being so crass

and what do you tell the fans , you stand around out side for god knows how long and the game might be played ? and if there is a bomb and it does go off and it destroys part of the ground what about the fans standing outside?
All parties have done the right thing.

Only if city win, then it doesn't matter just share the points, we'll qualify for euros. West ham will be pissed but tough titty. If city lose today then it will be replayed.

True. Very strange.

Game will be played at some point because we'd have to issue refunds if not.

It's worrying though, there's thousands of football matches each week around the world... it's a soft target for terrorism. And evacuation means everyone is gathered outside which could ends up as potential target.

It's a sad world we're living right now. I hope everything turns out fine and no bomb was found even if they managed to evacuate everyone :(

So with West Ham now winning and the possibility of our game being called a draw we could end up 5th.. after this sort of incident I fail to see us sacking LVG.

How do I not read a particular post that has been made in a thread I am reading? Caf doesn't have an auto idiot filter. It's your right to post whatever you feel like as long as it doesn't break rules here, it's my right to call a post cnutish if I think it is.

Cant complain, you have to be very careful nowadays, better to be safe than sorry. Unlucky for the bournmouth fans though it's a long way to come for nothing.

Seems like an organised evacuation - which is the best possible outcome given how lethal a panicked crowd can be.
Was reading we are well ahead of the rest in terms of stuff like this

Sounds like it was seamless. And in this day and age that's a very good thing
