OT EVACUATED | Device signed as having been recovered, could NOT be detected by sniffer dogs

So with West Ham now winning and the possibility of our game being called a draw we could end up 5th.. after this sort of incident I fail to see us sacking LVG.
What? You think the board are going to go "well we were going to sack him but... jaysus I just feel terrible now after the bomb scare, sure we may as well keep him on so!"

Like another poster said. They'd focus on evacuating those closest as soon as possible rather than divide their attention across another 38,000 people who would be some distance from a potential explosion.

Also, they know that part of the stadium is safe as it will have been checked. If they evacuate outside, that environment is much more difficult to control. Plenty of bins etc to hide bombs that go off at a later time.

Suspected packages found in UK stadiums you fool.
I'm a fool.

Read up your history you fecking tool! We had loads of hoax bomb threats during the IRA bombing campaign and Manchester was bombed too.

Aguero is an incredible player. Put him in the Barcelona team and I don't think they'd be any worse off.

I love how some fans are finding any reason to be a negative feck.

Only if city win, then it doesn't matter just share the points, we'll qualify for euros. West ham will be pissed but tough titty. If city lose today then it will be replayed.
Not so. If we lost and both Southampton and West Ham won, we'd lose out completely. The game will be played.

Hoping that everyone is okay, and that it was a false alarm. When there is any doubt for security, the best option is always to abandon the match and to evacuate the fans.

You need to change who you speak to then. None of that is funny and it doesn't justify making a joke about another unfunny subject matter.

And you need to stop being so crass

I don't know how I am being crass. I see someone joke about a dog on the pitch and another guy on this thread said "shouldn't have worn tight shorts". These are harmless jokes. The only tragedy here is that of a postponed football match and (thankfully) no lives. If someone thinks I'm a cnut for joking about a postponed football match well then they're the cnut in my view. Anyway it's not worth discussing here.

If west ham win and southampton win do we not finish 7th with just a point.

Souness was saying he was patted down today. Says he doesn't remember being patted down at OT before. Indicates there was a threat before the game to me.

Anything in the use of 'abandoned' rather than postponed? Surely they won't just call it 0-0 and refund everyone?

I don't understand why it has to be abandoned. Why can't they just play later tonight if/when the situation is dealt with?

Sucks for the Bournemouth fans.

It's a huge building, it's going to take a while to check every nook and cranny.

Also if there is a potential threat it's probably not wise to clump 70k people together just outside.

I think without a doubt we will play the match even if it is just a formality. Might as well play the kids and not take any stupid risks before the final.

Great job to the police and security. Forget 4th place and all of that BS. Everyone at OT be safe and stay safe!!!

In a way it's remarkable that this is the first time that we've had something like this happen - since the threat of terrorism really came on the agenda over the last 15 years or so, something like this has always been a danger. No chances can be taken, and all precautions are necessary.

And once something like this happened, it was always going to be targeted at United, since - despite currently being shite - we are the biggest and most popular name in the game, with the largest stadium. There was talk of a plot targeting us in like 2001 or 2002 IIRC for that reason, though I'm not sure if that was ever based on any real threat - anyone remember?

I've just seen the fulltimedevils youtube guys say the turnstiles were already closed when they arrived, so they never even got in.

I'm sure it was a Championship Huddersfield v Leeds last season that didn't replay but it was 0-0. Can anyone find info on it? Because I can't see it.

At least if city get 4th we can rest all our players tomorrow or Tuesday for the cup final

I wouldn't put it anything past Ed to be honest.

You simply don't get it do you?

You even equate tragic subjects with jokes about dogs and shorts?

Just go away man! It's hard arguing with 5 year olds

Should play the game tomorrow & get it done. Has little implications for either side, especially if City win. Play the reserves.

Good to see United are doing everything in their power to keep those twats out of OT.
