Its actually not that bad @Varun.

Average of 43(eng), 41(ind) 9!(nz), 57(pak), 6!(SA) and 31(Sri)

Has only poor return against nz and sa, and that will change once he plays more matches there.
Rather than average against an opposition, average in a condition probably matters more right ?

Yeah, agree with you there. A strike rate of 75-80 was normal for that era, although skills side is still on the lower range of that. But given that his batsman wont score a lot ( relying on pointing basically), you need wicket taking options in there. Not someone who will just stop the runs.

It's naive to say nobody else will score. Astle has like 16 hundreds and Attapattu and flower too are very good batsman. Attapattu is also playing at home. So that will be an advantage too. And Azhar has once scored a 100 off 60 balls and he is playing in subcontinent too

Pick your toys up ffs, I voted for your team long back  Saying stuff like he's at sehwag's level is obviously going to be pointed out. We are supposed to go by what he has done so far right? Well in maxwell's case, it isn't much. I see him as someone who's good for a quick 25-30 and actually considered that a plus for you but then MJJ brought sehwag into it

I'm not sure how scoring runs against India is relevant. Ponting has probably scored a feck load against terrible Indian attacks. I mean which cnut hasn't?!?

Anyway, with Smith, Lara and Pietersen in the middle order Maxwell will be lucky if he get's to bat.

And with that I'm really out. Not fair on skills.

Yes, we really are the team that helps batters get back on form  I was just saying he's had too short a career and scored a bulk of his runs vs 2 shit attacks to be compared to the likes of sehwag.

You can stay and talk ffs. People aren't sheep to simply vote for you because 2 of you are here.

I'l raise my hand up and admit I haven't read any of the stats you've posted so far.

Whaaat? But they are a game changer! Havent you being reading @Donaldo posts?

I said wont score a lot, thats based on their runrate. You have to remember that the average score nowadays is 300 and you need a couple of players to play at a quick rate to get that.

One off events dude, dont count for a lot. As for the rest, yeah they are good but I think mine are better and score at a quicker rate.

Never mind, found the right spring roll. Why do you think he will be expensive @Akshay . He has an econ of 4.45, very respectable for a fast bowler. Not everyone can be a McGrath or Fanie (*Completes Mandatory advertising*)
I just don't think he's a particularly good bowler. He mostly has his record because of good performances on seamer-friendly wickets in Australia against an Aussie team in transition. Smith, Lara and Pietersen will milk him in the middle overs and relieve any pressure the likes of Kapil Dev and Saqlain are able to build.

In football draft, the usual etiquette is that either a manager talks or the AM. Not both at the same time. Although given @Skills participation, it would be better if me and akash had an argument over who will win :D

He's just saying you should be careful about the stats you post man, nothing wrong in it. It's an easy typo to make though so I'm not sure why it's such a big deal.

I'm voting for MJJ. He showed some real initiative in using bogus stats to gain a pecuniary advantage and his comment of Maxwell > Sehwag is the only thing that's made me chuckle all day

Yeah I'm aware but football draft is way too serious business. This is fun and I wouldn't want @Akash unable to post what he wants just because he happens to share a team with you. He has spent time building the team after all.

Love you too brews <3

Its the wolf in me, lynch skills!

Yeah, @Akash double team for the win!!

Yeah I got his point, but the way he kept harping on it deserved some teasing in return!

I'm assuming Pringle will be the second change (after Ntini, Dev, Bishop), so in which case, it's more likely that he will bowl alongside Saqlain. Wouldn't that change matters. Players will be tempted to go after him and judging by his average, there's a good chance he may get atleast 1 wicket or 2.

Wait for Monday Budweiser, that will be all discussion and a little stats. :smirk:
I'm going to be busy in a WW game Sunday night onwards which means i'l probably have only 75 posts in the match thread

I doubt it. The only batsmen whose wicket he's taken with any regularity has been Inzamam. He's been awful against the top batsmen he played regularly, like the Waugh brothers, Jayasuriya, Border, Gooch etc. He just takes easy wickets and there won't be many in this match.

How do you check something like that? Most dismissals etc ?

I found it strange that people were picking players just based on numbers and now I see the writeups are full of numbers. The worst thing is that the first line of MJJ's writeup says Fleming had an average of 37.5 and a SR of 75 , he is a player I had checked well so was sure those numbers were false and it turns out that his average was 32 and SR 71 .
