I still don't think a new stadium happens due to economic viability (or lack thereof) - a refurb is the cheaper and more likely option, but I have a feeling that this whole stadium project is going to be quietly kicked into the long grass
They've convinced a giant like Peel Holdings they mean business, and all the local authorities too. It may fall down for some reason but at the moment it's clear they are deadly serious.

Exactly, something that resembles a large steep hill referenced in the history. Seems like Spurs tried to do that with their stadium, but not having been to a match there, I am not sure what kind of impact that stand has on the atmosphere.

There's always guff spoken about acoustics, roof keeping the noise in etc... But at the end of the day, fans create an atmosphere not stadiums. If you look at a match of the day broadcast from the 70s or 80s, the atmosphere beats the pants of what is currently on show at Spurs or any other premier league ground. Even though the facilities were open air behind goals.

Spurs charge £2k for a season ticket in the middle section of the wall behind the goal, and about £1.2-£1.5k everywhere else. The atmosphere is tame because of it.

Good point. We used to have Denver Broncos season tickets in the old South Stands bleacher section. The tickets cost $25 a game and when they moved to the new stadium, they doubled in price. We went from bench seating to seats with cup holder. The new stadium is still loud but nothing like the rawness of the old one, in large part to the more corporate nature of the crowd.

Unwanted packed lunch of a scouser in the away end.

Jesus.

I'd be curious to know how Kroenke financed the SoFi Stadium. Didn't our COO meet with Kroenke Sports and Entertainment this past summer?

Good timing for ceiling to leak. INEOS who now own the shares need to speed up the process of buying the club in it's entirety.

INEOS might as well save their money and have the first team play at Leigh Sports Village like the U21’s.
After all, who will want to watch us if we continue to play like a relegation side.

A new 100k stadium still looks to be the likeliest outcome, it's what the owners wanted. It would be the best way to give us the upper hand against all our rivals, the task force was basically set up to look for ways to make that possible.

It's amazing to see all these issues with our stadium. In America the owners would have long fleeced the tax players for tens or hundreds of millions to build a new one. :annoyed:

Summary:

The Old Trafford Regeneration Task Force has completed an Options Report outlining plans for a new or redeveloped stadium at Old Trafford, which aims to serve as a catalyst for social and economic renewal in the surrounding area. The vision includes transforming Trafford Park into a hub of sports, entertainment, business, and education, with potential to add £7.3 billion in gross value to the UK economy and create over 90,000 jobs.

Key findings include the potential to increase stadium capacity to 87,000 through redevelopment or to 100,000 with a new-build stadium. Fan consultation revealed strong support for a world-class stadium, with 52% favoring a new build, 31% preferring redevelopment, and 17% undecided. Community engagement also indicated that 60% of local residents see the project as beneficial, with further consultation planned for 2025.

The plan also proposes establishing a Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC) to drive large-scale regeneration, including infrastructure development and urban renewal, aligned with Greater Manchester’s growth goals.

Leaders like Lord Sebastian Coe, Mayor Andy Burnham, and Cllr Liz Patel emphasized the project’s transformative potential, comparing it to the impact of London 2012. They highlighted its role in boosting economic growth, creating sustainable infrastructure, and improving the quality of life for residents. The initiative represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to revitalize Old Trafford and the surrounding region.

New stadium will mean even higher prices and a generation of local kids getting used to visiting OT once a season as a treat.

I've heard some many things about the proposed new stadium but nothing on that.

I hope the design isn't some soulless bowl and incorporates most of what made the current ground iconic in the first place.

Well maybe United should tell them if they don't fork out they'll bugger off to another city

Haha poor St. Louis
I don't follow the NFL but St Louis poached them from California in the first place and they started in Cleveland originally so they got a taste of their own medicine really, it's what happens when you have franchises, they tend to bugger off when it suits them, there are lots of examples in US sports, the Dodgers and the Braves in MLB, Ravens and Raiders in the NFL are a few that spring to mind

Giants in baseball.

So if we build a new one and tear down old Trafford. What do we call the new stadium? New Trafford?? :D

Get him a little kit, in fairness, the mouse can't be worse than Lenny Yoro.

He's our new L10, what a debut performance, dribbling like mad and hopping over tackles like they don't exist. Gave Amad a run for his money.
