Moussa Sissoko

I'm a big fecking fan of this lad

It's fair to say he's a box-to-box type player, but his best attributes are off the ball... He's like a Maha Diarra type player

:smirk:

Of course he's playing just off the forward as he did for the majority of his time in Ligue Un...Diarra type indeed. Looks good in Newcastle's direct playing style. Capable of doing his bit in midfield while offering a physical presence up top - exactly what they needed.

He is very composed and calm. Never really watched him for Toulouse, but he was good against Villa and running the game against Chelsea. Looks a very good buy already.

Barn storming and match winning debut performance from him vs the Chavs. Was inspirational.

Hope its an over achievement as if it isn't, why did we not try and sign him?!

What a game he had. Drove Newcastle forward. He's physically a beast, looks like he's made for the premier league. Makes you wonder why a bigger team didn't go for him, especially considering he wasn't an unknown player and was a highly rated youngster a year or two ago.

He could easily be the new Cisse. A 6 month wonder.

Kouroux who watches French football doesn't rate him much.

He could be a Dembele ... ie looks good but isn't great.

Or he could turn out to be the next Patrick Vierra.

Different players though. Cisse is a pure striker who scored loads of screamers last year, so once his luck ran out he's just a bit shit. Sissoko is more of a fellaini type player, as in he can play in midfield or as a support striker. He seems to have more to his game as well.

I think Newcastle will take either for the money they paid for him. He's been highly regarded for a few years he will be another good signing for Newcastle.

He was playing in the hole behind the striker. How did you deduce that he could turn out to be the next Vieira?

Well I've only really started to follow European football this season, mainly because of Soccermanager. But I followed Toulouse due to their excellent young squad in France and Sissoko and Capoue both stood out as players with great potential. Capoue looked the better player, but Sissoko always had the talent. Surprised he's started off by scoring a few goals though. He had 19 shots in 19 appearances this season for Toulouse and scored 1 goal. So perhaps Pardew has simply pushed him a bit further forward and told him to shoot a bit more. He's better in the more advanced role imo, he'll be a handful.

People getting far too carried away with this performance. He was vey good, but only time will tell just how good he actually is.

No room for him. Just like Fellaini he could only play like that by being given the freedom of playing just off the striker, nothing about that performance suggested we missed out on him as a midfielder.

What's to explain? Even average players can have good games. Especially on home debuts when the adreneline is pumping.

Time to judge him is after a year.

This.He was amazing in this match but I'll have to wait a little longer to make proper judgment.I'll have no pb admitting he's a great player when he'll show it consistently.

It's disturbing how easy it looks at times. Just sign some guy from africa/france and he'll become great.

Strangest thing you've said on this forum and that takes some doing.

He's looking a really class act when surrounded by good players. Great technique, strength, stamina and can even shoot! How he's ended up at newcastle is beyond me!

You're saying that almost entirely based on his volley aren't you? ;) For me he looks very clumsy and stupid compared to the rest of the French midfield/attack.

He's headless and clumsy, but happens to be a big athletic guy so can occasionally make up for it.

Wow, my scouting radar appears to be way off, I've been impressed with his general play in all of the french games. Haven't watched much of him at newcastle. Looks to be be big, strong, fast, have good technique and a good eye for goal?

Newcastle the right level for him.

With this and the De Jong thread we are really lowering the bar.
Agreed.
