Moussa Sissoko

What a crazy low fee 1.8m?!

He's gonna be the michu of the second half

If they had signed these players (I know some of them have expiring contracts, hence the sales) or players of that standard during the summer they'd be doing so much better know. Ashley's penny pinching will cost them at least this season and possibly more if the new players don't settle quickly.

1.8m??? wtf, it's like they're giving away the best players in France for mere pennies. Fair play to Newcastle, they're making some bargain signings.

Alain pardeiu is having a fire sale over in France, what does he know that others don't ?

Him playing alongside either Cabaye or Tiote is a good central midfield. I expect them to make Europe next season because they will make more signings this summer.

So Newcastle are doing something I do in Fifa and FM, search for all the decent to good players either whose contracts are up very soon or have some trouble at the current club and want to leave.

Not a bad strategy as you get pretty good players for a low price even if they weren't your first choice.

£1.8m is an outrageous price considering he was valued at£10m+ only a year ago.

Is this one of those threads where everyone says that this guy is great without ever really watching him play and then he turns out to be gash?

It's one of those threads where everyone has bought him in FM at some point.

Easy to blame Ashley - but the club is a million miles away from where it was under previous owners. They borrowed and the club were seemingly close to going under. He's spent hundreds of milliosn to get them on an even keel.

Thety probably got it wrong this summer - but they're relatively well ran. I can't see them going down and the moves they've made in this window seem smart.

I saw it but it's still surprising that Toulouse didn't extend his deal in the Summer or they could simply sell it then and would have probably got a fair value. At £1.8m they could have well kept him until the end of season.

Player evidently realised he could move and pick up a large signing on fee and/or wages. Clubs realised they can get him for free/reduced fee.

The player doesn't have to go anywhere if he doesn't want - and no club will pay top price for a player shortly out of contract.

This is why its dangerous to let players run into the last year of their contract.

Sissoko has signed a 6 and a half year deal tonight.

6 1/2 year deal though Newcastle are loving this long contracts aren't they. I think he will be a very good player for them though much like most of the signings they make these days.

I think they will all have release clauses included in their contracts.

They will most probably be playing all of the 3 in the middle. Seems strong on paper, but we will see how it copes in real life soon enough.

Pretty decent central midfield, but they just can't seem to score goals when it matters. The Newcastle fans I know are concerned with Cisse's lack of progress this season, whilst relying on the injury prone Ben Arfa.

Out of all the signings, this one does stand out. Especially with the nominal fee paid. This lad needed a step up from the French league, still has time to develop into a better footballer. Certainly has the athleticism.

How is every club in the World not scouting France? Some right bargains have come from there in the PL years.

I mean the fees are really interestingly low for some players but at the same time the Ben Arfa's, the Cabaye's of this world aren't the best french players.
None of those bargains have changed anything at Arsenal, they still struggle the same way.Newcastle have been unlucky with injuries

They aren't the best of course. No offense to Newcastle, but they are not trying to compete for the title. They will be happy making Europe every season since they can make a profit or break even. They are the rebuilding process against coming back from the Championship and they are doing a good job. And the Ben Arfa's and the Cabaye's are all you need to make a 5th or 6th place in the table. They are the two best players are Newcastle and both of them have been significantly injured over the course of this season. And injuries will ruin any teams' season. I think their midfield might be set. They need to strengthen their attack and defense with Coloccini mostly likely to leave.

You can get really good bargains if you know where to look - Arsenals problem is that they think you can win the league with youngsters and bargains. And when they finally tried a different tactics - Wenger didn't sign good enough players.
