Moussa Sissoko

I'm a big fecking fan of this lad, i've watched a number of games since 2008 and I can say safely he's one for the future.

I can safely say he's not got much attributes to make him the new Vieira, he's much more defensive minded but has a good physical presence in midfield and a good eye for pass... It's fair to say he's a box-to-box type player, but his best attributes are off the ball... He's like a Maha Diarra type player

I rate him highly, he's gone well under the radar which is quite strange in this modern day of young footballers.

You're a big fan of him, and yet you describe him as a defensive midfielder(and gone even further than that and call him a M.Diarra like player, who's a pure defensive midfielder) when he's widely recognised as an attacking midfielder?

Hmm.

I saw him play once but cant remember much about his performance. The defensive midfielder pushed further forward sounds like what Villarreal did with Senna after the Euros. Didnt really work for them .

Who'd have thunk in 2004 that Manchester United could have Owen, Diouf and Sissoko lining up for then.

He might be the kind of midfielder we need if he's got the "strong will to win" as someone said earlier. We are really lacking that in the midfield...aside from Daz.

It's true though. If Sissoko was called 'Alain' and was white he'd never be compared to Viera (without even taking into account that he's an entirely different midfielder).
He's a sort of box to box midfielder but who likes to attack more obviously, he's often seen in the opposite penalty box trying to score goals

If that's the case then they are misguided. Its like labelling a hardworking midfielder who wouldn't score a goal even if his very life depended on it as the new Ronaldinho. Its happens all the time in football.

TBF to him the Maha Diarra of Lyon was a far more attack minded player than the one currently at Real Madrid.

he's done well so far this season, if it was up to me Toulalan's spot with the French squad would be endangered by him and Diaby who have more ability with the ball in their feet

Is there anything to this rumour? Have only seen it from this one source (new football pools), no where else at all. Has it actually been reported on at all in France?

I think its amusing when you play FM and they describe a young player as "the new...", and its always something like "the new Stan Collymore".

Manchester United are believed to have opened talks with Toulouse for the powerful young midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

A French midfielder of Malian descent, Sissoko is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in Europe.

The 20-year-old was instrumental in helping his club finish fourth in the French League last season and is believed to have had an even better campaign this time around, attracting scouts from all over Europe.

Spurs are already understood to have registered an interest with boss Harry Redknapp admitting earlier this season that he had been impressed by the quality of the player.

From the paper that brought you Sol Campbell to United (exlcusive and with uber credible sources ie. redcafe) come's this.

Seem's like they've been browsing us again.

as far as i know he is an Anderson type of player. but i havent seen much of him so wont argue bout that.

What? Can't shoot or pass but we like him becuase he seems pretty funny?

I guess you're right, I went a bit OTT last night with the "borderline racism" comment.
My bad

:boring:

His depth on the pitch is outstanding, which is why I still classify him a DM... Why do you persist to try and be a smart ass when the likes of our more seasoned and attentive French football fans have noted that he's becoming attack minded? This is the third season i've been watching the lad and i've observed him grow from a decent DM to a good box-to-box player, with an eye for goal.

I MADE the opinion that I never thought his skills defensively were all that weak, he has an under-rated quality of pace which allows him the freedom as a CM to make attacking risks and find reward, both in goals and in position to get back.

FWIW, though nobody else can seem to make an opinion you accept, is Maha Diarra was much LIKE Sissoko is now before moving to Madrid, which makes your case null and void... Clearly i'm not going to compare him to a player who plays a stable DM in Madrid when my point was he looks like Diarra did in France, which gives me thought that he will, one day, be a DM for a big club.

Sacrebleu

Even though his manager thinks he's not very strong defensively and plays as an attacking midfielder?

Diarra had more to his game at Lyon, or he showed it more often, but I'd never seen him play as anything other than a defensive midfielder who gets forward whereas this guy seems to be the opposite.

Just seems a bit odd, is all.

Here is a quote from Fergie today on MEN stating no signings this winter!!!..........

And, as transfer deadline-day edges nearer, it does appear Diouf - who was signed last summer but remained in Norway to complete their season - will be Ferguson's only recruit.

"I have had no more thoughts on transfers at all," he shrugged.

No problem mate. Maybe its because I am so used to this crap that I hardly give any notice of it anymore. Don't you remember the Miller = new Roy Keane and the Bellion = new Thierry Henry? :p

@Searl :I don't know what to think anymore because when I see his partner Gignac who was outstanding last season and who has struggled big time in this one.I don't know if he's a one season wonder because he has been good so far since the start of the league.I don't take into account what he did last season because it was overrated to ridiculous proportions in France.
If he can keep up his level in more than just one season then yes, he's special indeed

@Alex: that's why I said borderline.

I said the same thing last season, that Gignac might just be a decent player who's had a season above his level, and you jumped down my throat for saying it Kouroux!

His manager didn't think that, there wasn't ever really any plausable reason for him to move up-pitch other than the fact he's probably a more complete midfielder than he was trained.

 This is why I don't feck with Brwned, he takes notes !

At the time, the way he was playing he looked more than just a decent player having the one and only great season of his career. It's all hypothesis and shit, Gignac might be back on tracks judging from his last few matches when even if he didn't he was Toulouse best player and creating chances after chances for his teammates.

Very stupid and borderline racism to name him the new Viera. They're so different when they play

French player of African descent. Tall, powerful, plays in center of midfield. Has he potential to become a complete box-to-box midfielder in a few years. Yup, I totally understand what you're saying. It reeks of racism to compare him to Viera.

:boring: Read the thread before choosing to respond to random posts.Despite being tall and black he's got nothing in common with Viera, plays a totally different football to him.

If you wanna go this way... Vieira was born in Senegal whereas Sissoko was born in France. One is tall and rather "slim" (Vieira), the other one is quite tall but not as much as Vieira and far more "muscular" if the word is relevant in English. The guy is so powerful, quite a beast for his age, which clearly was not the case for Vieira at the time. And as Kouroux said quite a few times, there's absolutely no comparison whatsoever regarding their game and the way they play.

Vieira is a defensive midfielder with some box-to-box skills in his game, ok. Sissoko is an all-around midfielder that likes to run at opponents, cross and shoot. His technique can be very impressive and he's quite fast for his height. He usually plays as central midfielder but has often played as right midfielder - if not winger.

I can't see on what basis should a black French man be touted as the new "black other French guy" because they're rather tall. That must be one of the only things they have in common ! Nothing agressive in my answer, though. It's obvious that a guy playing for Toulouse must be quite anonymous to many.

Difficult to show many games, but look what Sissoko can do - against lower opposition ;) - YouTube - but de sissoko TFC Toulouse can't see Vieira doing this week in and week out as Sissoko does, with speed and dribbling skills, etc.

It's just a video, but might interest a few to see how he's so different from Vieira YouTube - sissoko montage \ mercatofoot2009 (Just look the first minutes because after it's only images)

Astounding goal!

This lad has fallen off the radar it seems these days. Great prospect imo

Sissoko: Focused on Toulouse

Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko claims Manchester City and Lyon have both shown an interest in signing him.

The France Under 21 international has alerted a number of major clubs after starring in Toulouse's fourth-placed finish in Ligue 1 last season.

Sissoko, 20, has also been linked with Manchester United during the summer but he insists he will not be distracted by any transfer speculation.

"I try not to take too much interest in all this because I want to concentrate on my football," he told L'Equipe.

"Yes, it's nice to see that such clubs are interested in me. But I work with my club, and I let my uncle (Bakari Sanogo), who is my agent, deal with it.

"And if something should happen, it will. But for now, I'm in Toulouse, and I'm fine."

When pressed as to which clubs he was referring to, Sissoko replied: "It is the name of City (Manchester) who appears, and Lyon from time to time.

"But I try not to take much notice. It is the job of my agent, and mine is on the field. I want to best prepare for the best season in Toulouse, and especially on doing better than last year."

Mali-born Sissoko is uncapped at senior level but is hoping to force his way into new France coach Laurent Blanc's plans for the upcoming friendly against Norway on 11th August.

"There will be a new coach, and now everything is possible.

"If my team does well, and there are positive results, it may be beneficial for me. I will work, and I hope to be called on August 11."
