Mo Salah

EPL's Player of this season for me.

:D Fantasy Football's Player of this season too.

Damn, his mojo scoring, assisting and always a threat upfront is maaadly consistent, from start all the way close to the finish line, some 8-10 games left to go.

Carry Liverpool all season.
He's not carried us, that would suggest that we'd be struggling in mid table without him. In fairness, our front e all compliment each other. It's Salah that's scored the most goals but Firmino and Mane have done their fair share of getting the ball to him. All 3 are outstanding and as a forward line, they're frightening together

Fair enough, didn't follow Liverpool that much.

Firmino and Mane didn't hit top form early season from the little I've seen, but ya Liverpool fans are better judge of this I suppose.

I gotta say. This was not what I expected. Dude hit another gear this season compared to last season at Roma.

We never make signings like Salah. Why can't we find gems like this who unexpectedly hit another level with us? Everyone we sign is a big name who flops or gets worse when he comes. Di Maria, Sanchez, Pogba etc. Fergie was an expert at finding these kind of players.

Hindsight is 20/20.

People on RedCafe (and many other forums as well) used to say that Salah would flop in Premier League due to his Chelsea stint, despite being terrific in Serie A.

I think Bailly and Lindelof were signed in that expectation.

It’s not the player it’s the club. We’re doing something wrong, the football we play, the setup, the pressure, whatever. I don’t know what it is, but too many players have come to United and been disappointing for it to be a coincidence. Do you think Salah would be scoring a goal a game if he played for us? More likely he’d be playing like Sanchez is now, looking like a shell of the player we know he can be.

Don't think you read the Caf when Liverpool signed him. Everyone here said he would be a fantastic signing.

Not really, the reaction was mixed, some said it was a good signing while others were surprised and didnt rate him. Even now plenty are surprised, me too, i wouldn't have thought he would be this good.

Best RW in the world, not counting Messi who's been playing in different positions this year.

Too bad that we've been seriously lacking that position for years and kept relying on Valencia's shin breakers while Liverpool went and signed this guy.

The 2nd goal is a good example of that.
1) Our full backs rarely make that run
2) When they do they are rarely picked out
3) If they receive the ball, they rarely cross it first time, never mind accurately.

We suck at this thing called football

He’d be shite under Jose. Already was once.

Yeah, but let's be real - nobody was clamouring after this guy and nobody could have predicted he would have been this good in the summer.

Hope this is just a freak season and he gets found out next season, but I know I'm just deluding myself :(

Could be a freak season, you never know. The very top players are consistent every season will be interesting to see what he does next season, hopefully more of the same!

Basically every top player we sign gets gradually worse during his time at United. Sometimes even struggling with the basics. I can name a few right now. Memphis was the best free kick taker in Europe - comes to United and blasts every free kick into row Z. Herrera scored around 8 goals in his first season and for the first time in a while it looked like we'd signed a top midfielder. This season he's been crap. Martial was better with LVG. Since SAF retired the most exciting signings that have come have failed and as a result we've turned to the likes of Fellaini and Young the less fancied options by fans to make the difference. Its just not good enough. We saw Pogba the other day struggling to make a proper pass.

I like the guy. I hate knowing how happy Liverpool fans will be to have him. You know like when you fancy a girl but she's going out with some smug bellend.

Doubt his output would be anywhere near as good here.

Good point. I'm just frustrated at the club's apparent inclination for left sided attackers while ignoring the glaringly empty right side.

It's not just Salah. For a long time we've missed out on signing players like him. We never take a chance and sign players who are under the radar. Everything at United is about boosting shirt sales and signing household names. It reminds a bit of when SAF signed Chicharito and he scored 20+ goals in his first season. Let's be honest nobody knew who he was but he surprised everyone with his goals. OK sometimes it didn't work like Bebe but when it did it was amazing.

Incredible that they are still being us in the league, after losing to us just last week.

While I'm not sure Memphis was the 'best free kick taker in Europe,' I fail to see how it's anyones fault except his if he could no longer be effective from them. That's literally down to the player, not the tactics.

The mistake a lot of people are making in this thread is that because we are Man Utd fans, we scrutinise our players' performance far greater than if they were playing for other teams. Players seem to go backwards because highlight videos and the odd game here and there doesn't reveal the truth, which you see when you're watching them twice a week in great detail.

I can't see it unfortunately. Salah's game is based around the high line and using his impressive attributes to maximum effect. He's still young and will likely continue to thrive under Klopp.

I'm sorry, but I genuinely hope Bayern come in for Klopp at the end of the season and Real for Salah. :D

The fact that Mourinho sold him and De Bruyne really makes you wonder.

Call me dumb, but Salah and Leroy Sane reminds me of Messi. Those runs and making fun of defenders

Not really. Chelsea is based on short-term thinking. They had better players than those two at the time. Th fact that they were signed suggested he rated them but the club didn’t have the patience to let them grow.

Where on earth did you think that one up ?? Morono is the short term thinker unfortunately his brain is fried
