Mo Salah

He's almost caught up with Danny Welbeck's total career output - in one friggin season

Fits Liverpools system really well. I remember seeing him in the first few matches of this season where he had a shitload of chances and couldn't finish any of them. All i could think was: If he finishes those he would be top class, but he can't so that's why he plays for Liverpool. Definitely proved me wrong. Let's hope it's either a freak season or he gets sold this summer.

Not really. Chelsea is based on short-term thinking. They had better players than those two at the time. Th fact that they were signed suggested he rated them but the club didn’t have the patience to let them grow.
You can't say Mourinho offered them enough of an opportunity though? Both quite obviously had bags of talent whilst at Chelsea, otherwise they wouldn't have done as well as they did as soon as they left. Begs the question why they didn't feature more for Mourinho, it's on the manager in my opinion.

Any fear of Ronaldo's 42 goals in 2007/2008 for us being beaten ?
Certainly possible. Salah is on 35 goals now with 7 games left in the PL and 2-5 in the CL.

edit: Actually he's on 36 goals.. the CL qualification goal against Hoffenheim wasn't counted.

What a player! Having an incredible season.

Quite incredible tally for a player I doubt anyone would have expected so much from in the beginning of the season. Props to him.

As many league goals this season as Lukaku, Sanchez and Rashford taken together ...Golden signing for them. Would cost 150m in the summer. Or more, if you take into account Coutinho's price.

Liverpool always seem to have a tendency to replace one great player with another. Slightly annoying.

If we had Salah and they had Sanchez, we would all be saying get rid of Salah and lets by Sanchez. Except Mourhino of course!

What the hell, I truely never expected him to have such a good season. He's contributed to 37 goals in the PL!
28 goals and 9 assists.

Don't get too carried away. He's having a good season but he won't come close to winning world footballer of the year.
Well it depends. If he win magically CL, he should be considered to win it

IIRC Suarez had 31 goals and 13 assists in 13/14 in the PL. So a contributor to 44 goals. Salah is on 37 now with 7 games to go.

I think he is set to break the Premier League goals record for a season.

Think Henry holds the record for most PL goals+assists in one season: 44. Salah is close to beating it. He is contributing goals at a better rate than Suarez in 13/14.

He'll be third in the Ballon Dor list. And a certain Brazilian wouldn't like that.

I have no idea why Neymar would be considered for the Ballon D'or. He is an amazing player but the Ballon D'or is about what you perform in one year. Neymar has been better for the last few years and probably will be better in the coming years but this season he hasn't showed anything this year. Out in the CL and winning the French league isn't Ballon D'or worthy if you ask me.

Still think it's Liverpool making him look good. He's got great movement and finishing, but his all around play places him a tier below Ballon dor contenders

Even if we won the UCL, if Argentina Brazil or Portugal win the world cup then Messi Neymar or Ronaldo will win it regardless

Watford defenders reminded me of when Mike Tyson was at his peak, Salah certainly has that fear factor, where they're beaten before they enter the pitch. Well done to Youngy for showing the way to deal with him, shame no one else is taking note.

As a Liverpool fan Mate, that’s really a bit of an outside perception (unless you’re counting Rickie Lambert/ Mario Balotelli for Suarez, or Alberto Aquilani for Xabi Alonso, or Christian Poulsen for Javier Mascherano, or Paul Konchesky for Fabio Aurellio/ Alvaro Arbeloa).

Thank goodness we just won 5-0, seriously, typing that has just made me have to hide all the sharp objects in the house!

And I even forgot the big one...Andy Caroll for Fernando Torres! It’s made more palatable only retrospectively, by Suarez arriving the same day. He was seen as a no.10 by many at the time, and was bought for that role, more so than as a Striker anyway.

I hope, you being a United supporter, that this post has cheered you up. :)

He won’t go (unless he agitates big time) for at least another couple of years I’d say. Footie is mad though, so never say never (again, is a Shiite Bond film Mish Funnyfanney).

What you say is true, but just on reputation he will be up there.

This is the type of performance we should expect from Alexis Sanchez. What a waste of money.
Was just thinking the first part. As for the second, give it a rest. He's been here for just a couple months with a team needing more consistent stability and little fluidity.

Also, the cross Robertson puts in for Salah's second..I can't recall any of our players making such a pass in probably years. Heck, our best crosses this season have come from the CF expected to be on the end of them.

I should have added “at the moment” at the end of that sentence. Young has put in some decent crosses, but other than him and lukaku, we have not been that proficient in that department.

He'd be inconsistent here: a product of the poor football we play.

I have no doubt about that. Salah would not be half the player he is at Liverpool if he was playing with our current football ideology.

Quality player and seems quite likeable, unfortunately! Ha ha!
If he carries on playing like this he’ll be off to another club soon.

So far he shouldn't make the top 3 but it's a world cup year. If Brasil win it and he's the star of the tournament he'll do better than just top 3 imo.
