Michael Oliver

Right.

From the guy who thinks Benatia equating a decision to rape and going unpunished with refusing to give another team a guard of honor are comparable
Don't put words in my mouth I never said that

One week later I would say it was a penalty. Wouldn't call it stonewall, though.

Why none of the Madrid players got booked for diving remains Oliver's secret.

He also sent off the wrong player it wasn't Buffon who pushed him he just assumed it was when he turned around

Really a terrible performance from him in the whole game, he got one decision right with the penalty and messed up everything else

I still don't think there was an actual push, more a placing of hands on the back. Think it's tight either way but in my eyes, soft penalty

Also the RM players look for penalties every time they get near the box and are never booked for it
Bentaia himself said he pushed the Madrid player FFS.

I hope we play insanely well cause this guy can do some damage.

It was a penalty. I've never seen such despicable action of fans towards a ref after a game. Imagine the outcry if Juventus were Chelsea in the 08/09 CL semi-final.
Apart from the penalty which was a penalty Juve got shafted over two legs here . But Oliver got this call correct. .

Imagine how insecure he must feel right now, I think he will make a strong statement against us to prove otherwise. Take down the mighty United in a final, that will prove he is not biased to big clubs like Madrid etc.

The ref for the Chelsea vs Barca match in 2009 was definitely on the take. There's no other explanation for how horrendous that display was.

Referee's officiate games in isolation, not with half a mind on what happened last time they reffed a big game or against a certain team. Oliver's been decent recently and the Juve vs Madrid game shows he got the stones to make the right decisions, despite the occasion.

Also, if we're relying on a ref to give us the rub of the green going into a cup final in order to win it, we're in serious fecking trouble.

Teams don't pay attention to refs like that when setting up for a game. They play the game in isolation so we would never even think the thought of relying on a ref to win a game. However, the natural outcome of some games are indeed being offset by bad referees who aren't strong enough to officiate games without their subconscious preconceived notions tuning in to have their say.

Regardless of cup final discussion, this man is a truly horrendous referee. He has proven it time and time again and interferes with games as much as any referee I’ve seen. They say you don’t notice a good referee, will almost every game he refs has his stamp all over it. He’s a horrible referee and should be miles from professional football

Clattenburg recently admitted in an interview that he reffed games to narratives at times. Not a huge leap to assume that other high-profile refs do the same.

I believe David elleray commented on his long controversial relationship with Roy Keane and red cards too. I think it’s hard to believe if a referee has made a recent comtroversial decision against a certain team it won’t be on his mind next time. That’s just my take and they 100% don’t make individual decisions in isolation in the same game, almost every game shows a referee trying to balance things out or digger a bigger hole after one bad decision sets an entire shit show in motion.

To assume the both clubs, players and the referee will not be aware of the previous controversy between hazard and Herrera and the same ref, is naive I think. Chelsea and the diving king of the league will absolutely try to prey on it

I don't think Michael Oliver has it out for us personally, I just think he's a terrible ref and the occasion usually gets to him. Considering we're a big club, the big occasion is there any time we play a top 6 team.

Someones gonna get fecked over by his decisions in the Final. Let's just hope it's Chelsea who have that bad luck and not us.

Clattenburg is possibly the most arrogant ref ever to grace the game. There's obviously exceptions to the rule but professionals do their job professionally.

The referee hounding is ludicrous. Fans seem to berate every ref after every match which indicates that the issue is not the refs but moreso the expectations. Either you work to take the human element out of the game or you live with it.

Fwiw, I agree with @fishfingers15 , Clattenberg is amongst the better refs. His UCL FInals annd WC performance were great.

Elleray, Clattenburg, Webb, Riley were all good refs but you could only hear one description for them while they were active - 'horrible'. Same goes for Oliver here.

I think with the amount of cameras on the pitch in the modern game, there's no such thing as a good ref anymore.

We either go completely with technology to referee the game, or we accept that refs will feck your day up at some point because they are human. Don't mind people having a moan about certain decisions, but the constant moaning about general refereeing from both fans and the media is getting boring.

Can't have the best of both worlds.

If push came to shove, would you rather bareback Clattenberg or Oliver?

Oliver does sometimes look as though he might enjoy it.

On the other hand, I understand he's married to a bit of a looker who, believe it or not, is also a referee in non-league football.

So the question is - is she actually a better ref than him ?

Letting Chelsea players off the hook time after time again. Other way around and he'd already have dished ut several bookings.

His positioning

The imaginary chewing gum

He’s a dwarf of a human being

He absolutely loves Hazard doesnt he? Protects him like he's an endangered species ffs...

I swear he was the ref last time we played Chelsea and gave about 20 fouls on Hazard and sent Herrera off?

Hazard's a good player, but like Ronaldo in his early days goes down at the slightest touch, half of them aren't fouls but Oliver just blows as soon as he sees Hazard on the floor.

Give us the impetus and we just lack ideas. We are on top but haven’t actually created anything.

That is Hazards game, he literally had no intention to shoot, he waited for the challenge then went down.

Ridiculously protective of Hazard, every time anyone goes near him it's a foul and usually a booking.
