Bolasie is out for the season. Memphis might get a chance at Everton now

So you expect Everton to trust Depay to score goals in a league where we don't trust him to score goals?
A loan is realistic, I doubt they'll buy him though, unless we dump him off but that I wouldn't want since I'm interested in seeing what he could do for Everton before completely giving up on him.

I don't share your enthusiasm, I haven't seen anything from him to suggest he could make it at United.

Everton will be looking for a winger with Bolasie out injured and United might be unwilling to let him leave on a loan. Everton are a different animal now under new ownership and you have to look at their spending in the summer, Koeman will have a lot to spend in January.

The only reason I can see loaning Depay is that we loaned Januzaj and he's actually more shite than Depay is.

Neihter of them will make it IMO but if we have patience to keep Januzaj on the books maybe we should offer Depay the same chance.

Don't be silly.

Januzaj's done far more at a higher level than Memphis has. I suspect he'd have stood out more in the Dutch League too.

Like feck he has. He had 4 goals and 1 assist in 35 games for us. Depay had 21 goals in the Dutch league and in a struggling debut got 7 in 40 odd apps. In a Man Utd shirt, its an equal level of shitness from both. Januzaj was a shining light in what was a terrible season, so the low bar and excitement from the unknown made him look way better than he ever was.

They have both been shite for us, but Depay comes with greater potential and a good record in Holland whereas Januzaj has had his work-rate and attitude questioned at Dortmund and hasn't got going at a relegation club. If he's a loan then so is Depay, who hasn't even had the chance to prove himself at another club. Unlike Januzaj who has had 2 and looks like he's failed both.

I wouldn't let Everton loan him I don't think we'd benefit from that. I'd sell him on and bring Pereira back as the left mid when Martial doesn't play.
Memphis is done at United, it's best for both parties if he moves on and tries to build a career elsewhere.

Was excited when we signed him, looked a real talent at the WC with Holland, then had that great season in the Dutch league. Watched his interviews when he 1st arrived and sounded like he was raring to go and up for the challenge. i did notice he seemed to bulk up a lot in the pre season and looked like he lost a bit of pace, sadly just aint worked out for one reason or another, wont be the last young player to make the grade at a big club, think might be best for him to move elsewhere and try re-build his career, if everton is an option might be good for him, will almost be guarented games due to Bolasie being out for a while and Cleverly as there other winger.

Great, we desperately need a new No 7. Somebody worthy of it.
Hunt is on.

I'm not enthusiastic but also not ready to give up this easily, as players have sometimes excelled in different circumstances.

Again though, why would Everton invest a lot of money into Depay who, as you said, hasn't shown much yet in the PL?

Because their manager is Dutch and he happens to think he can turn things around for Depay.

Just give them all 3 of our useless players - fellaini, memphis and schneiderlin. Feel like Everton would actually want all 3 tbh. Question is how much would we take in return? Selling to just them I cant see us getting more then 30 or 35m. But if we sold to 3 different clubs, then we could probably get around 15m for each. As long as they leave we'll be better off though. Just take up space and are a nuissance more than anything.

Agreed. Can't believe we spent around £80m for those three

Maybe we can offer them all 3 for Lukaku?

Ffs, 80m  Just think of all the players who moved on in that time that we possibly could have gotten for that amount. Terrible stuff

We should aim higher than that donkey!!!

We'll get a donkey in exchange of 3. Sounds a good deal to me.

Maybe we can throw Rojo, Darmian, Jones, Bastian and Rooney in the mix too. Less salarierm Yes we're that 'desperate' for Lukaku

We sold Ronaldo for the equivalant of that.

We should sign talent because they are excellent players who have the right attitude to succeed. Not because the agent wont make us pay for his service, or they are the new flashy toy available or because he happens to be the manager's pet.

Stop the nonsense guys, the poor attitude thing is really based on nothing. We have a lot of attackers and he isnt very good so both sides should take their losses and move apart. But its just unfair to say he didnt work hard or didnt want it enough etc, he's just not been good enough but at the wame time not given a single chance this season.

I wouldn't say its nonsense or based on nothing:

4 days old. Quite sure Dutch trainers and Danny Blind have voiced concerns over his attitude too. He was also a complete dick to Van Persie in training apparently. There was a BBC article about some bust-up.

Don't want him to go. Plenty of others can be shipped before he should be.

Rooney, Januzaj, Jones, Young, Rojo - all bigger problems.
what has he done more than Januzaj?:-D Jones looks great lately and Rojo too but the point stands with Januzaj, Memphis should go out on loan though, he deserves a chance to prove himself in the premier league before we ditch him for good

He has the tools to succeed so it is bizarre that we haven't given a proper chance in almost 12 months

Great strength, good pace, good touch, amazing shot, good brain...he is twice the player of Lingard, Rashford and Young

The metro.
Something far more relevant to me is how Mou keeps positive about him, mentioning how it hurts not to take him in the squad, him keeping in shape in the summer, Blind stating twice how hard he works in training and deserves to succeed. Yes he has tattoos and expensive cars, yes he likes rap and yes I'd prefer he spent his free time in some Probability and Analysis etc but there's some unfair common thesis that he doesnt work hard, which isnt true at all. Everyone who's followed him will work, he has been nowhere near good enough but he always tries his best and tries to make things happen. Sad thing, he cant.

Van Persie himself can be a dick at times himself, it happened in the heat of the moment from both sides.

The metro sometimes comes out with some decent articles tbh. He was also left out of the Everton squad, so there is certainly smoke if he can't even make the Zorya fixture.

I'm not talking about his love for cars, rap or expensive items. I'm just taking the facts and some of the circumstantial evidence/journalist insights and saying its certainly not nonsense. Especially when dutch coaches and the manager have pretty much spelt out he often has a poor attitude themselves.

He's not been in the squad so often this season, we have a lot of options up front. What exactly was this poor attitude according to these articles? And I wouldnt know why that surpasses club articles or Mourinho's press conferences, Blind's actual interviews. Im just curious.

The Metro don't employ reporters. They employ people that extract information from other newspapers and online reports and write them into their own words. This isn't mocking what they do, it's just what they do - hence it's free to read.

Memphis leaving on loan would make sense, anyway. He's wasting his time here and needs regular football to salvage something out of the season.

Managers rarely ever point to poor attitude in public interviews whilst the player is with them. They'll sugarcoat it and try and resolve the problem directly with the player.

That said, Danny Blind himself had concerns that Depay has no idea how to work in a team. He said "In football, you must function in a team - and he doesn't always do that. I told him that when I called him to say he wasn't in the squad. It's something he has to learn."

Here is what Ronald Koeman had to say around the topic of Depay:

“He won’t play every game. I have learnt, while I am here in England, that Dutch players can’t make the jump to the top of the Premier League easily. And young players can’t play 38 games anyway.

And I see another lack of quality with the Dutch kids, that I have also noticed with other young stars in the Premier League: they don’t communicate! They behave like individuals. Stuck to their smartphones.’’

Here is what a well respected scout, Henk Grim, said about Depay from 5 years of tracking him:

“I always work with a list of five specific qualities: skills, tactics, physique, attitude, personality. I did not get any higher with my average ratings than 5.6 out of 10.

"And you know what brought the rating down most of all? The rating for his personality. It is only because of the fact that I could not go any lower than zero out of 10, otherwise I would have rated him well below that.

“It was absolutely disgusting, the foul language that boy used towards his fellow players and towards people in the crowd. I understand a boy can be in a period of having to grow up. With the intensive personal coaching at PSV Eindhoven they have managed to make an okay player of him".

If you add that to the training ground bust ups (apparently from a lack of respect towards RvP) and consistently failing to make match day squads, you find its definately not nonsense. It sounds very much that he's a selfish, stubborn player who has his priorities wrong.

Ok, fair enough. But I think I bolstered the point through other quotes/sources above.

I don't think it requires so many theories, he's just not good enough and isn't the first Eredivisie fraud in the last 20 years.

rubbish -------------- all 3 have had many decent / good games for us; so far Memphis's can be counted on one hand. I am not sure you ever actually watch a game.
