No loan, so you wonder who, if anyone, will be brave enough to drop £15-20 million on him.

Interesting though that Jose is been so open about him wanting out, surely that would devalue him.

Or it could let potential buyers know that he is available for the right bid.
Memphis wants out....which is the right thing for him.
And Jose wants him out....which is the right thing for our club.

If he really joins Koeman in Everton, I only hope that he wont be great player.:wenger: it will hurt my feeling.

I hope he does become a good player.
He is a young man and I can't wish bad things for a guy who is trying to make something of himself.

Seems, clubs only want him on loan.

They don't want to risk spending money on him.
They want the option to return him back to us, in the event that he flops...much like Falcao, when he was being loaned out to anybody who'd pay his wages.

of course I will also be happy if he can be good player for his next team, just not great/world class quality.
tbh I was his fan when he come to OT till this early season. But he has let many people down with his consistent bad performances on the pitch. I dont care with his social media activities where he likes to show off his luxury lifestyle, but he must repay his fans expectation on the pitch too. for me, it's like he doesnt even feel embarassed. well, that's my soft rant.

Yeah, this. As long as he doesn't start bad mouthing the club after leaving, I'd always wish him the best, especially at somewhere like Everton.

I think he's a good kid, maybe not quite 'obedient' enough to handle being a squad player, and not quite good enough to be allowed to be a 'maverick' on the pitch for a huge club.

He needs to go somewhere and feel important, and be allowed to make mistakes on the pitch and learn from it.

I had thought him and Schneiderlin would be gone as soon as the window opened. Both have rarely played so clubs would have known their availability in advance. It won't do any good for this to drag on as it's already half a season wasted for them.

I would imagine it's very unlikely Nice are going to pay the £20m odd it's being suggested that we want?
Maybe we can swap him for Cyprien. They get a player they want and we get a potential Carrick replacement. Unfortunately for us, transfer deals are rarely that straightforward.

Nice are currently leading the French league. It's not that massive a fall from grace really. He could be their talisman to win the league. I'd see that as an exciting challenge if I were him.
Nice are the french Leicester, 1 season wonders. If you don't think there's a huge difference between united and Nice then fair enough..

Of course I do, we are a massive club. But the possibility of winning a title at Nice could tempt a want away star like him to join them and be the fulcrum of their attack. Even if it's a loan deal, Memphis has a great deal to gain from such a move. Personally, I think he'll still go to Everton, now that Bolassie is injured as well.

Aye, I think they will sort a double deal and that's why it's taking time.

Perhaps United would like them to drop just a few more points first

Of course it's a good opportunity to win a title, but dropping to the french league and starring for nice is a world away from being the number 7 of Man Utd. That's what I meant.

If he wants to be the star and instagram famous then playing for Nice isn't going to get him known, especially in America which he seems so fond of.

Shame, bit like Kagawa his United career was over before it began, with Kagawa it was the (fantastic) signing of RVP, so he was on the bench or shunted out on the left, with Memphis his first few games he was a no10 then along came Martial who took the LW spot after a few weeks

Hard to be sad to see him go, wish him the best but always felt we should have kept Janujaz and sent Depay out on loan.

The potential loan to Nice might be one of those deals similar to Negredo to I think Valencia from City.

Negredo went on Loan to Valencia but they had to buy him after a year. Might be the same thing with Depay.

He could either come back to haunt us be like a pogba, lukaka, or he ends up like another Revel Morrison, potential never realized.

Still think he's too young to give up on and the issue against a loan unless we're worried about him being a further year down on his contract although still seems to be worth the risk for me. If he does really well then maybe we can re-evaluate his role in the team as he could well push on to become an effective player, if he's average/poor we lose out on a few million maybe. Feel it's worth the risk.

The truth is he's far too raw for a 5 month loan to make much of a difference. For a loan to be of any benefit to use it would have to be for at least 18 months until May 2018 (possibly May 2019). By that point he has 1 year left on his deal and is probably angling for a move regardless (although we have an option to extend for a year).

If we really have any hope he will become a top class player we'd be better off with a buy-back clause, I'd have no problem selling him for £20m and buying him back for say £35m in 4 years if he miraculously became a really top class talent. To get where we want to be we will be looking at the likes of Griezmann/Sanchez/Dybala to supplement Martial/Mkhitaryan, that isn't a level that Depay is capable of reaching in my view.

Yeah it's a tough one. Tbf even a 5 month loan of steady football could do him a world of good. If we do have an option to extend for a year it feels like it's worth the risk.

At 22 I'm more than a bit surprised that a loan move has been ruled out. Can only see us losing a huge amount on what we paid. A part from the Chinese clubs (who are doing a great job helping Chelsea comply with FFP) who else could afford to take a risk buying him for anything more than £10-15 million? He's looked useless against every premier league full back he's come up against, and I can only conclude he's not shown anything special in training if the manager is happy to sell him at 22.

No, they are not. They have been good for more than one season.

There's a difference between being good and potentially winning the league. Let's be honest Nice should not be winning ligue 1, just like Leicester winning was a freak thing.

It still doesn't make them a french Leicester, Nice are a good team who wants and can be european every year. That's not Leicester.

Ijust dont get why is he not tempted to go out on loan to premier league there must be at least three or four clubs he could help

I think we're taking a calculated gamble with a loan to Nice. The French league isn't as competitive as the EPL and it might turn out to be the league where he finally finds his "level". In that case, he might shine at Nice and we might be able to sell him in the summer for a decent fee (unless there's a fee that has already been discussed/agreed upon with Nice in the entire loan negotiation process)

So basically a win-win for all involved and worst case, we end up taking a few million hit.

He'll probably be class if he is given a long run of games which we just couldnt give him. Best for all parties if he leaves tbh.

Should accept £15-16m for him at this point and include a sell-on clause at 30% or so. If he succeeds at his next club he's likely to get sold to a bigger club again.

At the pre-match conference Mourinho talked about Memphis. He said that before the transfer window he thought there was a 100% chance that Memphis would be sold, but there weren't any concrete offers yet, and now he thinks chances are 0%. He's also not taking him into account anymore.

For me that means he has to be sold or he'll be completely out of the picture for the rest of the season. Would be a shame for such a young player. Hope he gets sold quickly.

Latest quotes re Depay from Mourinho:

'I was informed by the club that there is a chance Memphis could leave. From a human point of view, I cannot stop him from leaving when he is not playing under me.

'If he is staying, I would be more than happy because he is a fantastic guy and a very good player. I feel so sorry that I am not giving him opportunities to play. A player of his age needs to be playing matches.

'If he stays with me, for sure, he will play some games because we have so many matches.'

I'd still like to see Depay given an opportunity, but it is more of a question of whether that is even feasible now - he'll need an extended run of games and it is hard to see where Mourinho can afford to do so - Europa League, FA Cup perhaps?

Plus, he'd have to make the bench to at least have the chance of making an impact and he's not even in the matchday squads as it stands. He's a confidence player and someone who is letting his own personal ambition stunt his progression.

Mourinho is not the type to nurture someone without first concluding that the player himself can stand on his own two feet, take responsibility and follow instructions. Which is why I don't think Depay has been involved thus far.

The key here I think is:

'If he is staying, I would be more than happy because he is a fantastic guy and a very good player. I feel so sorry that I am not giving him opportunities to play. A player of his age needs to be playing matches.

Makes me feel that we're listening to offers, we're open to the idea of him leaving, but we're in no rush to get rid of him. As for Memphis, he needs to show Jose that he deserves to play. Jose has played a blinder with the Memphis situation IMO.

That pretty much sums up my feelings on the matter as well.

No personal animosity for the guy, but seems pretty clear he's in a bit over his head, at least currently.

I understand the implications on his career for such a move, but man would he be great in (and for) the MLS if he could make a comparable salary.

I feel differently, that sounds to me like they are struggling to get rid.
