Apparently AC keen on him. Think that would be a good move for him - I think he needs a league where he can start afresh and, arguably, play at a slightly lower level.

Lyon over the years have squeezed money from clubs all over the world, hopefully we can get some back.I do suspect however it will be loan to buy deal.Could be possible to squeeze a bit of money out of this one as well.
I've got a funny feeling that we are no longer going to be accepting derisory bids for players after schneiderlin.Lyon over the years have squeezed money from clubs all over the world, hopefully we can get some back.I do suspect however it will be loan to buy deal.
Don't think we paid £29M....We dont want to loan him. Were in the driving seat. We should be able to get £20 million back at least for a player we paid £29 million for. Hes 22-23 years old? Got plenty of time to improve, but sadly wasnt to be here.
According to D Mirror £26 million and we have to pay £3.9 million or 10% whichevers greater to PSV. So if we got the same as Schneiderlin £22 million gross, we would only get £18.1 million net. The £29 million would of happened if we reached certain goals with him, Champions League place etc.Don't think we paid £29M....
Reckon whatever we agreed also included add ons.. so hopefully we can get most of our money back. Such a shame really
Would be a shame to see him go to Lyon. Would prefer him staying in the PL, and showing his worth. I don't know a lot of player that tried the PL, failed, went to Ligue 1, succeeded, and then returned to the PL
Our asking price is €17m according to this article.
Probably some silly bid. When you see Ibe go from the scouse for £15m you really want to hold out until a PL club comes along.
Reckon a desperate WH would pay us £15-20m.
We also need to get his wages off the books. That's very low. I thought it would be around £20m
Maybe we just don't wanna sell him to a premier league club.
And no club is going to pay £30m for him. It's pointless comparing him to Bolasie. Bolasie was coming off his best season and Depay has barely done anything in the league for the last 18 months.
Well if you see how ambitious he is, then you wouldn't be happy with Lyon in the French league. You're assuming he cares if he plays in the EPL again. Could be just fine playing in any number of leagues for the rest of his career and be better off for it.
I haven't compared him to Bolasie.
My point is though that Jordan Ibe, a player that has done sweet feck all in the PL goes for £15m, so surely we can get the same or a bit more for Memphis.

Do Lyon have any quality youngsters we could nab in exchange?

That's the complete opposite of what he, and Mourinho are saying in the media. I do believe that if he succeeds at Lyon he could get a second chance at a bigger club, but I would just prefer if he stayed in the PL. It's the best competition, and if he plays on a weekly basis I can see him succeed here (the PL). Still hope it's going to be Everton. One of the biggest knocks against him is his perceived lack of ambition at United, thinking he's already made it and not applying himself. He could be very happy playing in France for the next 10 years, I don't know. I do know that he currently doesn't have a whole lot options at any top clubs in a top league, but certainly could prove himself in France and get another shot at a bigger club in a couple years or even take a larger money to some place like Monaco or PSG if France ends up being his level. Depends on him.
£15m for him is good business.
How?
We paid close to double that a year ago, he's still regarded as one of the hottest talents in Europe (somehow) and he's still young. In this market he should be going for £20m+.
We paid €27.5m which roughly was £20m at the time

That is where we disagree. If we send him on loan and he flops, we would be wishing we took the £15m. I can't see any club from the continent doing much better than £15.How?

That's why people looking for £20m+ will be disappointed. The bids from other leagues are lower because of the salary.
