Only a few games, not as bad as initially feared. Hope he’ll stay fit when he’s back next, but I won’t hold my breath.

Very disappointing. Has been great at leading the press and felt that this was his time to finally show his worth. Must be so frustrating for him for his body to let him down yet again. Was hoping to see an improvement on the injury front this season and surely he must be one of the players whose fitness needed careful management

So great he could barely handle 180 mins of league football. Just totally not worth the money, effort or wait.

Speedy recovery Mason

He’s been a positive this season too.
He actually has, that's why it's so depressing for me.

With him on the field, our press has looked organised, aggressive and effective. Brighton and Fulham were each being forced into mistakes left and right. When Mount goes off, it's mostly just a mess and last season's chaosball again.

So he should be back around the same time as Hojlund, a return to his previous position of sub with 5 minute cameos.

All around turning out to be an atrocious signing.

What the hell is going on with the fitness training at this club? This can’t all be down to individual players. There has been way too many injuries the past 4-5 years.

Played 106 minutes in the PL, just over half of the 180

You do wonder what's wrong here though, is he now going to keep getting injuries or is it a mentality thing where he doesn't want to play with niggles?

But he can press alot … for 1 game.
His pressing and how him in the team is important to how United press I've seen mentioned a lot by some pundits and youtubers. Wasn't he signed to created and score goals mainly? The Mount that scored 13 goals and assisted 16 goals for Chelsea in season 2021/22 has been no where to be seen in a United shirt.

Up there with the worst signings in club history. Along with Antony and some other current fails

Ten Hag fleeced us. All because he liked the way he played when on loan for Vitesse.

We bought him off the back of an inury hampered season at Chelsea.

We paid 60mil when he was into his last year of contract. What would we have valued him at if he had 3 years left on his contract? 100mil?

Gave him a big contract - £250k a week and could go as high at £300k a week with bonus, if reports are to be beleived....

And there is no obvious position to play him. He cant play in a side with Bruno. The 2 x 8's that Ten Hag tried at the start of last season left us wide open. We saw it in those early games last season v Spurs, Wolves and Forest where both started together.

At least with Antony, we were signing him for a particular role, as a right forward.

Blimey. Forgot it was a 5 year deal.

Not his fault he is injury prone but between his injury issues and the fact he isn't very good he has been an absolutely awful signing

Oh deary me, what a shock, NOT!!

Why, oh why, do we buy crocks? No matter how gifted a player may be they are a lame duck if not available.

It would have been nice for the executives who signed off on the spending to have said 'no'.

Most people knew he was injurie prone. This do not come as a surprise for anyone.

How we paid so much for a player that were injuried so much at the end of Chelsea time and on top of this giving him a top contract. He is not even worth the money if he was fit.

Everyone saying it was obvious he was going to be this injury prone is full of shit. He'd played 30+ league games 4 seasons in a row and then still played 24 league games in his 'injury' season at Chelsea.

Nobody could have predicted it'd be this bad for him. The number of players with previously good/decent injury records that are suddenly Phil Jones as soon as they walk into Carrington over the last few years is incredible.
People called it at the time of signing him so it evidently was quite obvious

How and to who?

It is impossible to get rid of underperforming and unavailable players on big wages.

See Sancho, Maguire, Martial.
See Emile Smith Rowe. Mount has some crazy reputation with the British, we can get rid of him. Maybe with a pay-off though. Absurd wages for such a bland footballer.

I also laugh at those who have raved about his pressing (for 2 games, mind you) and how that justifies his place.

Ok, but should we really be paying someone £250k per week to be a good presser? You could pay a squad player 1/4th of that if that’s what you need in your team. Also he offers nothing on the ball and ends up occupying the same space as Bruno. Plus giving him the number 7 was a weird choice.

Just a bizarre transfer and another indictment against EtH for his inability to recruit appropriately.

Shaw should be back then as well. But most probably few other players will get injured to compensate for those 3 coming back.

I feel I say this weekly but we have absolutely no chance of selling Mason Mount. His wages completely rule that out as a possibility - unless he proves successful. He either makes it here or we see him have a series of subsided loans as his contract runs down.

19/20 53 games
20/21 54 games
21/22 53 games
22/23 35 games
23/24 20 games

So, prior to joining Man Utd he only had one season dealing with injuries - and still nearly doubled his appearances from last season. So no, nobody knew he was injury prone at all - because he wasn't.

Of course he’s injured again.

Seems a really nice lad but never fit. What a waste of money.

It's a pity Ashworth and co weren't here last summer, I doubt this transfer would have been sanctioned on their watch.

I'm not so sure about that. Ashworth and Wilcox seem to not be adverse to high profile English player signings. Mount fits that bill and is in the right age range to boot.

Also, consider how Ashworth has shown interest in Sterling

You can’t blame anyone for getting injured.

But the real worry is after a full 23/24 season injured, he has had a summer off, came back fit and ready to go…then 1.5 games later he is injured again!

Far too many players at United need the Varane treatment. You can’t rely on them because they can’t stay fit for 2 games in a row.
