Mario Götze - Transfer Discussion | Bayern: Götze will cost €40m

I agree, but it is all a matter of context. Götze never had a team build around him like de Bruyne in Wolfsburg. They are also not exactly the same type of player. De Bruyne has almost the touch of a classic #10; someone who pulls all the strings for a team. On the other hand Götze is more comfortable to have the ball without space. Both could play in the same team and complement each other. I don´t mind if someone fancies one or the other, but Götze is incredibly talented and many people seem to forget that. He is still the most talented German youngster. I have little hope for the next year, because Pep uses him in a really weird way, but sooner or later he´ll live up to his talent.
+Klopp wont be out next manager.
I think he is talented, not sure he has enough of a strong character. If he hangs about he will outlast Pep.

I still think he's a massive talent, the lack of game time in his natural position, may hinder his development. But not many players, can say they've scoring the winning goal in a WC final at the age of 23.

Edit: awkward timing calling him a massive talent.

I think we cannot even tell that. Set Götze in Wolfsburg's system and he might even be better - he was with 19/20 already at Dortmund.

To compete in top clubs just is something different.

Götze has difficulties to find his place in a system where there is 4 players that are clearly ahead of him - I do not think that de Bruyne would be able to compete better in such a system. With Costa who is better suited to a wing position in Pep's system it gets even more difficult for him. I think that is difficult to cope with mentally, too. I remember e.g. Shaqiri who was fine with a sub role in the first season but could not digest that he was without chances after that what for sure was not good for him and his performances.

Anyway, touch wood Muller is coming here.
:nervous:

Sorry to destroy that dream, but the Müller transfer was a stillborn rumor that died again. Rummenigge categorically declared Müller as not for sale for any price.

Not followed this thread at all, is there any reason why we are excited about signing him alk of a sudden?

Do bayern players pop viagra every day or something?

Not sure but I know I can't get it up for Gotze, I feel he is similar to Mata and I would rather stick with our Spaniard.

Muller or Bale on the other hand (my unoccupied hand) no viagra would be necessary.

What's going on in here then, have we been linked or something?

No reason to convert the fee to Pounds.
40m euro is plenty for a player struggling at the club for 2 years now

I think only Juventus, PSG or City would be mad enough to pay that much money for Götze in his "current" shape. PSG and City because they don't care about money. Juventus because they seem in love with every german weltmeister.

For 40m euros with the current exchange rate that's a huge bargain. Same as Pedro.

Very mature interview after the game. He's not leaving, I'm sure about that.

Except Reus is not available and Götze might be.
For 85 million euros Reus is definitely as available as Goetze for 40 million. But paying 85 million would be ludicrous.

Like some others mentioned I do not see the sense in buying Götze as long as we have got Mata. They are quite similar players and share the same qualities. If we got Götze we would need to sell Mata. It is already difficult to fit in Mata.
However, this does not seem to be a great idea as we would get less for Mata than we would need to pay for Götze.
Beside that, Mata is PL proven and Götze not.

Please !! Not another no 10 !!
Injury free centre back first pleeeeeeze

Götze at Dortmund was fantastic, at Bayern not so much. For 28m pounds, he could be a potential bargain. I would love him here, versatile enough to play pretty much every position in the offensive department.

I admit saying he was a bit overrated, but after having watched some BvB highlights the other day from his time there, people forget how good he was.

but Götze was touted the biggest talent in the world 2 years ago, you'd take the gamble.

Same. I've not seen many players as good as he was at a young age. I'd take him in an instance. The payoff of it coming off would be us having one of the best in the world.
