Didn't see the game but hopefully this is the turning point for his form now

Did he play as the main striker today? I imagine so, but was just curious.
Behind the striker, in the position a lot of us saw as a possibility. Less running back towards his own goal, more running in behind. ZZ was up top but the fact he drops off and plays people in works well in this system...

Hahaha you sound devastated. Rattled
On what planet do I sound rattled? Some of you are so weird I swear. United just won 4-0 today mate, I'm as happy as a pig in shit.

You're the one who's first thought after that game was to come in here and quote a post I made days ago

His best game in a long while, got some goals and was actually trying to get involved in the buildup. He hasn’t been doing that for a very long time.

Great to see him getting two goals again. If we are going to achieve anything this season then we need him to contribute.

While I didn’t watch the match, from reading the comments it seems that his general performance outside of the goals was about the same as it has been recently.

In the context of that, I think it’s a good thing. By that I mean that even if his general performance is what it was like when we were losing every other match, but he is getting on the scoresheet, then that means that the system is getting him in positions to score regardless of how much he is doing outside of that, which is a good thing in terms of setup and Amorim being able to extract what we need out of our existing players

Rashford's performance today, scoring two goals, highlights his ability to thrive in short bursts when confident, but it shouldn't distract from the larger picture. His inconsistency and dependence on form make him an unreliable long-term solution for Man Utd. His skillset and mentality clash with the club's aspirations of building a cohesive, consistent, and progressive team. I hope the club doesn't make the same mistake again and reward him with a bumper contract based on a purple patch. It's clear that Rashford’s overall contributions no longer align with the direction the club needs to take. Selling him while he retains market value would be a pragmatic decision, allowing United to reinvest in players better suited to the club's long-term vision. That being said, I am glad to see his confidence restored and he starts going on a purple patch and keep scoring so we can find a club to sign him before his contract ends.

Gotta make up your own mind you can't be going off match day comments. Even if he scored a double hattrick posters would be in here rinsing him...

Fair play to him he played well today. Still a long way to buy back confidence that he will be a long term good player for us. But if he does then yeah I would be gladly be proven wrong as the ultimately the team will benefit.

Didn't play very well (better in the second half though), but scored 2 goals, so did his job today. Now do that on a regular basis.

If Amroim could do that we should cash in while his stock is high.
My thoughts exactly. Let’s hope Amroim finds a role for Rashford to do well this season to increase his goal tally, and fingers crossed Chelsea or PSG helps us out next summer.

Yup, make him back into a 30 goal striker and then.... Checks notes.... Whut?

I couldn’t watch the match mate

There’s no context where scoring two goals in a win can be a bad thing

I was more trying to make the point, in favor of the manager than anything else, that even if Rashford’s all round performance isn’t that good (I don’t know if it was or wasn’t) if the system can compensate for that and still create opportunities to get him scoring for us that can only be a good thing for the team. If his all round performance actually was good then that’s even better.

Yep. Match day thread had Rashford, Zirkzee and Bruno binned by the 15 minute mark. I'd give it a swerve in your overall analysis.

Many posters really struggling to take that performance

And they can't see how they come across.

Posting any slight balanced opinion or mitigation or attempt to understand Rashford's form or even humanise his struggles and you are RDL (Rashford Defence League) and then get bitter when you get dabbed on the next day

I hear ya mate, it's all about United at the end of the day. Lets hope this is the start of something real good!

Again as I've already said he played well today which I'm delighted to see, so I for one have no issues with his performance. All us United fans want to see, or should want to see, is our players play well week in and week out and the team by extension do well.

I don't understand why everyone who was critical of him before for very valid reasons is get shot down in here all the time, it's ridiculous.

Here’s hoping! It’s difficult to contain my excitement right now. I’ve been unfortunate in that due to work and other commitments I haven’t been able to watch any of our matches live since Amorim came in so I’m extra excited for the Arsenal match.

Ah yes the poor downtrodden posters who can't even criticise Rashford in here for all the RDL overrunning the thread

I at no point got bitter, you seem to making up scenarios in your head that don't exist. Surely all we should be caring about today is that United played well, Rashford played well, and Amorim looks like the coach we've been looking for for years, agreed?

Whatever arguments fans want to have about him are, if we want to have a good season then the fact that our most proven goalscorer is finding form is a good thing.

Hopefully this will be a turning point for him. Having him firing on all cylinders would be a major boost to our chances of getting a CL spot.

Without a doubt, that's all any of us want, well anyone that doesn't have a hidden agenda against Rashford, which unfortunately there definitely is on here. I just want the player of a few years back again, hopefully it's happening.

Scored 2 and generally wasn't too shit.

We've been here before though, he needs to back it up now and put in more consistent performances over a longer period.
